1600-2500$/pound depending on quality.. I've never paid/seen anyone pay more for weed here in the last 10 years
Alberta weed is better and cheaper than those fabled B.C. buds (i know i've lived in both provinces)
Price's have definitely went up a little bit over the past 2 years

I agree prices have increased dramatically within the last two years, especially "kush" weed.

Fyi though, you can easily sell a pound of just bc bud for $2800 CAD and $3200 for kush. That's at the pound, not per ounce... Per ounce you will sell regs for $220 and kush for $240-260... hell if you find desperate people $280. So do the math: $220 X 16 ounces = $3520 and $250 x 16 ounces = $4000. Don't even try to say you can buy a pound of Triple AAA Kush for $2500 CAD.

That's current for 11/18/2009. I say this information not to regulate the prices I want or whatever, but of what the rate is going at. You CAN find better deals with friends or some people, with that being said you CAN find much worse. Places like Drayton valley, Red Deer, Leduc, Lacombe, Stettler, and Edson have a little different prices. I have heard of much better (cheaper) prices for same quality. I would recommend buying from those places if you are looking for big amounts but RCMP and police are gay on the highways so use at your own discretion of course.

Oh and by the way, Fort McMurray is like... A different world to Alberta. Fort McMurray is full of people from all over Canada because of the oil boom jobs. So people no longer have dealers and are willing to pay BIG TIME. Mixed with fat cheques from oil companies, cussies don't care what they pay. In camps on 14 or 24 day shifts prices for weed are seriously like jail prices. People will trade 3-4 packs of smokes for a joint. Or pay $250 for a half oz. Plus mostly its Indian reserve weed (shitty) so you can get away with whatever quality you want.

With all that being said folks, I'm not trying to guide anyone into selling or buying Marijuana, showing a way to become a successful dealer or any of that garbage. I just want to inform people what is going on in Alberta, mainly so the young guys and girls don't get ripped off. I have a feeling this will get trolled on, so if you disagree with a price or something like that please don't ruin our Canadian forum and start fights. Remember we're Canadians here! PM your thoughts before posting if you have a huge problem and I can change information accordingly.

You just said the main reason - the average consumer rates their weed by either a) smell or b) color. I think another reason being is kush has a heavy comatose feeling that most people strive for. The only reason kush is expensive is supply and demand.

I totally agree with you and feel the same way about kush watering down the selection. But stand back and look at the situation; a grower can grow a strain in the same time as another strain but make way more money. So that grower will pick kush and the next grower and the next grower and so on. Sucks big time.

a pound can be grown for free, just move a few shovels full of brown and green leaf into a compost in a moist area, plant a seed and watch her turn into a P... all at no cost.. just a few minutes of light labor, if you wanted to force a price upon a pound, it would be less than a penny to grow,weed aint tomatoes, weed is one of the fastest growing plants on earth, 2nd or 3rd i believe.. so grow it while you can, it really shouldnt be worth more than a penny a pound.. If it does become legal, people will flood the market until the price goes down to the point of corn and other commodities, weed will b even cheaper because it grows faster and more abundantly.. the only way to control the cost of weed would b to regulate who can grow it and sell it. whoever has control will set the price as high as it can go.. but remmeber, it can b grown for free.

I also think Kush is over rated.Of many tried over the years not one has done it for me,or earned a place in my garden.I,m not hung up on taste or bag appeal,it's all about potency,and quality of the HIGH.I emphisized high cuz I'm sick of beat down indicas all together.I want to get high like back in the 80's when we used to get imports from columbia.

i live in southern ontario... shit ton of m39 in my little town, not too far from toronto.
runs 450-500 a qp
850-1000 hp
1500-2000+ p
doesnt get me too high but its cheap.. good for small time dealers, make decent money.
not too much good shit going around hardly ever know the strains.
shit ton of outdoor comes in though, lots of early stuff.. cheap as the m39 but much nicer.

Prices have lowered since the summer slightly. Considering the amount of broke fucks, expect to be low-balled with equivalent outdoor/indoor buds.

This is what pisses me off: Just because the bud is grown outdoors doesn't mean its inferior quality to indoor. The shit harvested this year resembled indoor hydro, comparable to the kush and yet..still received the "outdoor price."

Dense, trimmed and potent outdoor buds get trashed as if they are china. What gets me is, why trim all that extra leaf if your only going to receive an extra $100 if that?

Winnipeg right now $2300 for avg/decent commercial, $2700-$3000 for AAA, name brand etc... outdoor crap (not mine tho!) or shwag is usally $1600-1800.

Thats buying prices from pound dealers. Used to be about $150 higher this last year, but before that was about $100 lower than it is now (per lb).. no real break on a k (2.2lb) or more unless you get to 10 maybe but i dont know anything about that kind of qty...

oz are usually $200-$240 in smaller towns etc and $180-200 in Wpg. quarters are almost always $60. often, when getting less than an ounce you will pay the same for avg as for killer

I'm from Texas (i know this is the canada forum, I saw it under new post) and we mostly only get schwag in that kind of quantity.

(This pic is not mine, got it from google, though is an accurate representation of the quality of our schwag. Retail it goes for $2 a gram, sold in nicks, dimes, 20's, halves, etc.)

A pound of something like this goes for ~$400 USD.

Though "Dro" (the universal name for pretty much anything without seeds in Texas), goes for ~$400 an oz.

A pound would go for well over $4k, though I don't remember the last time I have seen a pound of "Dro" (I hate that term) for sale here.
