New 8KW stealth Coco chip grow!

Thanks Humboldt, yeah I kinda use this site as my personal chalkboard too, keeping notes and a calendar in a sense. If I make mistakes I can always come re-read this thread and go "Oh yeah dumbass, remember what happened with the bone meal tea?" or whatever.

Nope, don't get chips, I think they would be a great perlite substitute though, perlite is too big of a security risk to me, the chips do the same thing but are brown and a renewable resource.

I just shake my head at myself, I got 9.25# out of 7 lights my first run here, in soil, I just didn't want to do bushes again because of the inspections, no time for two long veg times between them. Now I'm moving it won't be an issue (or this next run here) but damn, it didn't work out like I'd planned. Kinda fun experiments though, with a little more dialing in it will be good. Hell, Dongle got 14# out of 6 lights, I should be able to get at least 16 out of 8! :) Well, someday anyway, heh.

"Final weight came to 4.02 pounds."

Wow, that's a bummer dude. Room is still sick though you'll get it dialed in. Get that heat under control and that will help a shitload I bet.

Dongle rocks it hard for sure, so clean.

Keep at it! I've had crazy problems the last 2 runs too... only pulled 1lb/2 lights so about the same as you... so depressing! I attribute it tap water though... new city new water.

Thanks PB, it's a bummer but only a temporary one!

Yeah water is part of my problem too, a Merlin RO filter is on my shopping list very soon.

Oh yeah, been ages since I updated. Got 100 Jackpot clones and 60 Purple mr nice in the room now, vegging in 2 gallon Smartpots of Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil. Got a good deal on 19 bags of it at my local shop and I couldn't say no. Always got good results with it, and I know it very well.

I'm also babysitting about a hundred girls for a buddy so I'm running low on room at the moment, but things should be back to normal shortly.

Made sure I sprayed the whole room for mites and watered all with gnatrol, no bugs allowed in this next run!

can't wait to see more pics lazyman; how many watts are you vegging those 160 under?

i am going to build a diy sulfur burner soon to suppress some pm. i have sprayed them twice with organicide as well. they are at week 4 flower right now how long do you think i have before i should not run the sulfur burner, any experience?

cheers

Thanks Raphael, I took some pics last night I can post later. Vegging under 4 1KW's right now, had to pack 40 pots per tray to get em to fit. I like 25w per square foot for veggin in general, but I got what I got. ;)

I use safers fungicide spray for PM, but for burners I usually advise to stop running them around week 6. I try to deal with PM environmentally (more dehumiification and more oscillating fans) so no sprays or burners would be required. For plants with dense foliage I put them right in front of a fan so they get hit pretty well with airflow, and rotate them often.

Hope that helps!

Ya this run I'm doing a scrog and the canopy is so dense pm is present on maybe 1/4 of screen. I've removed all of the undergrowth and have a 6" vortex exhausting the room w/ 2 osc 16" and a box fan 24" the room is 10x10.

Next run in the room I'm doing dtw coco on a 4x8 tray and so I will be able to rotate plants and just have better air movement all around.

I think it's crazy to do a scrog any more than 20sq ft it's such a pain in the neck! Haha but I love it.

Thanks for the advice lazyman, I exhibit many characteristics of your avatar and will pack a bowl to that :joint:

cheers

lol, cool deal man.

For a 10X10 I'd want 4 oscillating fans, I like the wall mount ones, mounted low enough to blow under the canopy a bit. Never done a scrog myself, but that's because most scrog users talk about what a pain it is! Yep, also doesn't scale well, I've never seen a 10KW scrog, would take too much work.

Lazyman, love your setup, but more importantly your attitude rocks, keep it up man! I'm looking forward to seeing your permanent site come together and without a doubt, you'll have that baby dialed in for 2+ per lite! One year, you'll be owning your own sticks. . .

Stay safe

Thanks SS, My 4th and last grow at this site is underway and I'm vegging the crap out of them this time, even if I have to break my tables down and need to handwater 4-5' tall bushes, I'm doing it!

Whatever it takes to get another 10-12# harvest out of the room, one last time. Took some more pics last night, uploading now!

Awesome thread. I found it by doing a search for sonoma county. Im thinking of moving there soon. How hard was it to find a decent spot to grow? Are most of the landlords against growing in rentals? I used to grow years ago in Florida and am considering getting back into the scene. Awesome score on the large basement. I hope it all comes together for you. I am planning a visit to the area next month to try to find something to rent. I have been checking craigslist for houses to rent. If you have any tips would be appreciated.

cheers

nice work, lazy. i haven't had the time to read the whole thread but i had a question for you about a diff thread we both posted in.

it was about digi ballasts and you recommended to not run hortilux's with the quantum ballast and to use the ushio bulbs instead. i was just wondering what problems you ran into with the eye bulbs cause i run the super enhanced 1000w in my quantum ballast and ha vent had a problem yet. im looking to re-bulb after this cycle and was thing maybe i should try the bulb you recommended.

tks,

digi's seem to blow through hortilux bulbs super quick because of the different igniting voltages between regular hps/mh bulbs and the hortilux, or so the maker of lumatek said.

Yeah Hortliux says don't use their bulbs in digis, and I blew 4 in 5 weeks, 7 of 8 dead in 4 months. Ushio on replacements from now on.
