I agree with Breeder Brad. So what he doesnt like DC? Maybe it was the hermie tendancies, the coffee like smoke, yeilds, or whatever! Its his opinion and nothing else. When did this place turn into a dumpfest cause someone didnt like a strain, even if the breeder is back on the boards and well respected. DH should be able to say what he feels about the issue since he has grown the plants out. And just for the record the cross everyone is dumping on from Oakland is the shit!!! Check any pics and the grow threads on that cut and people are lovin it! If you havent grown it like most in the thread havent, then what could you have to say on it? And I know people are gonna have a shit storm for me on this but so what! What if Tom's name was in the title and he was being called out? He is the person we all associate with the DC right? Yes, TomHill's name was removed from the title of this thread since there is no guarantee it was Tom's personal DC, as other people have already said

Obviously DH is entitled to his own opinion about Deep Chunk, but no good can come from saying a certain breeder's work is bad when it may not have been their work that you were growing

I'm back from a long self imposed ICM vacation

DC is one of my favorite plants. First, i love the way it grows. I love that large leaf dark green color, the smell, just about everthing about the way it grows. I like my sativa also but there is just something about it's structure.

I recieved some DC beans earlier this year, grew them out, open pollinated them with everything i had going at the time and got about 500 or more seeds....The DC itself was ok on average with 2 out of 10 outstanding phenos...but to the point. The second generation has been incredible...I love DC crossed with anytihng. I think that's where it really shines. DC has brought a lot more resin and "structure" to the plants.

Ironically, the best combo i have is a DC/Mazir I Shariff mix...yes, one of the free seeds i got from purchasing from Gypsy. It's better than all the others. It was crossed with all these other top genetics and the cheap seed beat them out!

Anyway, this is of course just my opinion. I grow a lot - A LOT - and i have seen so many different genetics over the years and i just really like DC..

And Sorry Digi if I miss read your post I thought you where saying that the DCxSC was the strain you didn't like. If you grew out Tom's straight DC and didn't like it thats cool. I for one have had great results I think you need to look deeper you will find that special girl that knocks your socks off

well i grew out deep chunk and some of Mota's Herijuana F2's from a friend in the Netherlands and honestly the Heri F2's outperformed the DC on every level...yield, taste, potency and bag appeal all go to the Herijuana F2's...i liked the DC but i just think there are better strains out on the market indica wise that are better if you are looking for something to smoke on...both the Heri and DC would be great for crossing as has been stated but i think keeping it as a plant to smoke is not really worth it unless you have a lot of space...i kept a Heri to use in some crosses but the DC i let go completely, i am smoking the DC as i type and its not bad but for the price i'd go with something else...tom did a lot of work in this strain so i'm not really gonna bash it as i see great breeding potential and i always give credit where due...tom u did a fab job at inbreeding this line and if i had the time i would probably cross it to quite a few sativa's to find a nice medical strain...peace and love

I grabbed a DC cross myself a while back....turned out to be a bummer, didn't keep it. Coule have f2'd it, but wanted to move on to better stuff.

i'll just come out and say it; i think oaksterdam fucked up the mom
i think they have multiple moms and some are fucked; no trics when flowered but they never flower em so they don't know... i've bought large batches from oaksterdam of the same clones; grew em right next to each other; some had trichs some didn't... no rhyme or reason; checked everything in my system; moved the plants to different sites; they never improved; just 0 trics, smoked like hay, didn't get u high. bunk through and through.

the dcxsc clones are the same ones i posted pictures of earlier; the ones i had are fire... very stony, nice smell, interesting flavor... if his are the same than he did something wrong growing; even the best and most experienced make mistakes, otherwise i think that he got a batch of bunk clones; if he didn't then i want the normal stuff he gets; i spent 5 MONTHS growing these; if they were bunk smoke i'd be pissed and let the world know it; they aren't and i've been smoking for a minute nows
