Please, I'm desperate lol, what is this?? :1help:

It starts on the oldest, lowest leaves first and gradually works its way up the entire plant throughout flowering :yoinks:

The leaves don't really yellow at all, they stay green but get completely covered in brown spots :fsu:

**EDIT 12-01-09**: NEW PICTURES + NUTE MIX HELP NEEDED

1. Are you growing from seed or clones? - Clones
2. How old are your plants? - youngest: 6 weeks, oldest: 11 weeks (both including veg)
3. How tall are your plants? - 2 feet tall
4. What type of hydro system are you using? - DWC buckets (2 gal)
5. What brand/type of nutrients are you using? - GH Flora 3-part
6. What is the Ph of your nutrient solution? - 5.7 to 6.0
7. What is the PPM/EC of your tap water? - 130ppm
8. What is the PPM/EC of your nutrient solution? - i've tried 800ppm, 950ppm, and 1200ppm during flowering
9. What is the temperature of your nutrient solution? - dont know for sure, feels about 70-75
10. Does your PPM/EC show a rise or fall when you do your daily PPM check? - Fall
11. Does your pH show a rise or fall when you do your daily check? - Both, it varies
12. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything? - Nope
13. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? - 250watt HPS
14. How close are your lights to the plants? - 18"
15. What size is your grow space in square feet? - 2.5' x 2.5' (about 6.25 sq ft)
16. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space? - temps: 75 day / 65 night; humidity: ~40-50%
17. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space? - the original mother plant (in soil) had fungus gnats, but that plant is long gone (these plants are clones from that plant)
18. How much experience do you have growing? - 5 years

Thank you!!

looks like PH lockout to me? I don't run hydro though so

also check your N, your over doing it on the N side

chizarium,
Seems that brown spots are usually Ca related...

Can you tell us more about your growing technique? What water?

Thanks for the reply

This has been happening for multiple crops now and I've been trying different things to try and correct the issue to no avail

I've also grown other strains in this exact setup with the same exact nutrient mixes and they did not have this issue

The strain with the issue in the pictures is El Nino by GHS

Here are some details of my setup:

> 250watt HPS

> Hydro DWC (2 Gal)

> Nutrients: 3-part GH Flora - tried Lucas formula first, then tried adding CalMag to Lucas formula, then tried going by directions on bottle, then tried adding CalMag to directions on bottle (testing these mixes on 3 different plants)

> pH: drifts between 5.7-6.0 - pH checked and adjusted daily

> Temps: ~75 day, ~65 night

> Humidity: 40-50%

The main thing I don't understand is why the problem would continue to get worse after adding CalMag to the nutes, and also why my leaves do not really look like the leaves in the pictures for Mg or Ca deficiencies

Sorry left out info about my water

My tap water is 130ppm and I let it sit out in an open bucket for 24 hours before using it in my DWC rez

After mixing the different nute formulas I end up between 800-1200ppm depending on which mix from the list above I'm using

everything sounds good ! try letting your PH raise more . Don't over care for your plants you should not have to adjust the ph every day . You could be running a tad strong for them or weak for them if your ph is needing ajusted daily. You are locking out your ca somehow . hopes this helps !!

C,
You're water is good. Wish I had tap water like that. Your leaves don't look at all like Mg deficiency so you can set that aside.

I have to tell you...I'm a real minimalist regarding nutrients and even though I've been growing for almost 40 years...I just haven't had that many deficiency issues.

Mostly I like to watch Infirmary threads to learn. Hopefully one or more of the experts will chime in.

With your varied multiple nute solutions...you sure you aren't getting any precipitation? Nute compounds combining and ending up as gravel on the bottom of the res?

Stick your hand down there and feel around. lol

People use Calmag to supplement Ca only because there aren't many other Ca supplements available. So the mg is sort of a freebie that may or may not be needed. Personally, I've never bought a bottle of calmag. Scrap it and see what happens.

Personally, I prefer a slightly wider ph swing in hydro. I go from 5.4 to 6.2 and don't worry if it goes a tad beyond those ranges. Each nute has it's own favorite ph range so by having a wider range, that allows each nute to absorb perfectly at a certain point in the drift.

Tequila is taking it's ugly toll...that's all for tonight...

SS: yes i did start another thread about it, my bad, the issue just keeps occurring and i really want to figure it out

i can't figure out how i'm locking out the Ca!! ahh!!

could it be a fungus or bacterial infection??

like what about something like "Septoria glycines" (google it)

thanks ET

i tried 3 different nute mixes (with and without the CalMag) on 3 different plants, and they all developed the problem

keeping in mind that all the nute mixes i tried were mixes i have used in the past with other strains in this exact setup and they did not have problems

all of these plants are clones from the same mother so it could be some kind of condition being passed around, that is not directly affected by my nute mix

does anyone know of common conditions for MJ?

Alright, an old time grower like me... but you even have a few more years in.

Back in the 70's we used peters 20-20-20 (for veg) in soil and no one ever had a problem.

chizarium,
"> Temps: ~75 day, ~65 night"

I never let the night temps get lower than 72, 70 at the lowest. A little warmer during the day also.

Also this plant may not like DWC, it may need more oxygen than your other strains.

Hi Ventura,
The 40 years was rounded up...but close to it. First grow in the early 70s. I still use Peters 10-30-20 bloom nutrients on soil and coco. Anything but hydro. Reliable and with a good flush and cure...taste is fine.

chizarium...sorry no new ideas. I'll keep thinking though.
