As for your Federal Loans, if you are convicted of ANY drug offense, kiss them good-bye.

Before you go giving the guy the doom and gloom, maybe you should check your facts.

FAFSA Drug Offender Student Aid Eligibility Worksheet

From a person who's got a few felony drug convictions and went from a multi-year prison sentence for methamphetamine to enrolled at our state's best public college with state and federal loans and grants - you'll be fine.

Also, imho, OP, get yourself going in an outpatient treatment program NOW. It is the single most beneficial thing you can do in your situation.

If you go to court with a decent lawyer having already completed treatment and ready to pass a drug test you will be in the best position you can be in.

Just make sure the treatment program will count for your FAFSA eligibility. And be skeptical of the dogma and pseudo-religious-treatment bs they'll shove down your throat in that treatment program. There's some good things to learn, but mostly its a cult full of insane people on drugs, again imho. Play by their rules to get through, though. Not the time to play mj activist.

I am a 19 year old college student in Ohio.
He said that they were really busy tonight and he wasn't going to charge me till later. He said that the weed would be sent to a lab where it would be dried, and then when the results would be sent back I would then be charged. He said that the sheriffs office would call me to let me know I had been charged but then it was my repsonsibility to turn myself in to be booked.

The charges he said were likely would be possesion of marijuana and parephenillia, I guess the backpack was parephenillia. I don't know when I will be charged but he said it could take a few weeks, I'm still confused about all of this....

Sorry to hear about your bust of course a lawyer is the answer but please do not take solace in anything he the officer said.

He is trained and paid to lie. They will be back with more charges so have you story and anything that could cause problems in order.

He may come back and say " Its not a big deal so we are going to most likely change or drop the this or that charge" Again lies so they can keep moving investigation forward contacting friends, looking to catch you in a lie (used often so they can show the judge all the holes in your story).

Get your shit straight don’t let your guard down and start thinking about who else they may be contacting. Its been said on here a million times "Don’t talk to the cops ever." So if they contact you again say nothing, even if they promise you some kind of reduced charges, they are lying and your lawyer can get the same for you.

Good Luck no one sholud loose thier chances on going to college for weed.
PEACE

damn man, can't blame you for shitting bricks when the police officer pulled up right behind your car. My only advice which is useless now but maybe for the future would be to just think about all the worst case scenarios that might happen and formulate your response prior to them happening. I know it hurts but you def could have played that off claiming some old lady called you in as suspicious for wearing a backpack, especially since you were a student! lol... the things people will do ... one of my friends got the cops called on him by some old lady for riding a bicycle and, GASP, parking that bicycle in a bike rack. The old lady thought he was "suspicious". You gotta always keep your cool and understand that unless they catch you IN THE ACT, they still have to prove something, and they're going to need a warrant for the proving a lot of the time. So the best strategy if he doesn't really have anything on you is to usually just not answer the door or answer the door and if he starts questioning you just tell him you won't answer questions without talking to an attorney first

Time to get out of Dodge. Consider a move to Ca. or some other state, Ohio probably won't extradite. Wait out the statute of limitations probably six years then you can go back and visit your family.

you just got ripped by a cop dude. They never take without giving paperwork or taking
you for the fingerprinting and booking then bailing.
How sure are you that this was a REAL cop?

Good advice above though, contact a GOOD lawyer, DO NOT go to a public defender.
Then wait and see where it goes to....

especially being a college student of course you have a back pack.... they must have somethign more on you then walking down the street with a pack on.... Or you live in a crazy as county....

PoopyTeaBags...For real? No way dude!....I used to live in the original police state of Fl.
and they ALWAYS took you for ID purposes later on. I got popped in '82 and it was out
doors with 142 plants about 10 in. high...cost me about 15 grand for a lawyer and
a few more G's for some evidence room bribes, but when the case came up, the DA,
Sheriff, Judge and Drug bust dudes ALL had egg on their faces...HA!
Good to know they do that snatch and drop-a-line shit now-a-days. Thanx for the
info.
In that case, let me change my advice from above.....Get a damn good lawyer!

Hope you didn't admit to growing it. You, er, did after all find it while looking for a place to fish, right? If cop comes back tell him you won't talk without your lawyer present. Protect yourself the best you can now.

Make sure ur house is clean of any growing material so you cant be charged with manufacturing. Hide your growing books and all that junk somewhere, just in the very slim chance they come back with a search warrant (with the intentions of proving cultivation).

I thought it was funny too.

As for the post count; at first I thought he typed it in as his location but that's not correct either. Seems ICMAG had a glitch when he signed up
