Second grow here im a noob, most of the guides are very complicating

I dont want to do anything with high stress training

Also i had some false ideas about general triaining - i was thinking you should tie the plant verticly ... can you do that?

Can you tie the plant (at the horizontal line) level to a pot/medium soo that it doesnt grow as tall?

Any other methods... ???

I know a good one - giving freshly planted seedings plenty of light froom a distance, this way you will eliminate excess streching and get yourself 3 - 6 inches shorter plants :joint:

BTW i am growing in a 4 by 2 by 1.5 box with 400 HPS, so the plant needs to be 2 ft high when its finished , with 1 ft in the ground and 1 ft below the light

put some wire fencing or something under your pot and tie any shoots that are stretching too high with some cotton onto the fencing. this goes hand in hand with FIMing new shoots that sprout. veg the plant till its about a foot high (for indica strains) and flip to 12/12. yes you can tie the plant so its main stem is horizontal to the floor, but you will need to cable-tie it to a peice of wire coat hanger or something like that, cos it will constantly try and turn up again and head for the light. MH lights are good for veg to reduce stretch, and they can be slightly closer to the plants than a HPS can be. so if you have a dual ballast then make sure to get one.

The two best methods are SCROG and LST

Do a search on them...there are plenty of posts, guides, and how-to's for them on this site....don't expect every question you have to ask to be answered either....you must search, read, learn, apply what you have learned and move up the ladder yourslef (with a little help of course),and then one day you will be able to turn around and help others that were once in your position as a noob.

GL & Happy Growing!

Thanks everyone

And oldbootz i was saying i wanted to keep the main stem vertical, and tight it with 2 - 4 strings so it doesnt grow up that much

While I generally like to grow straigh up, I have did quite a bit of LST before. Just tie them down, after a week or so the tip will have grown up toward the light and you can tie down again. You can pretty much keep doing that until you are ready to flower.

This was a Chiesel plant that I kept training for almost 3 months until it turned into a large bush.

You can supercrop too, but since you seem like you don't know a whole lot about growing I wouldn't advise you to do that. Listen to the other people that said LST that is your best bet to keep them small

I agree with FB, but I'll answer anyway. I've found blue light to be the biggest factor in my garden.

I tend to try and give them a height complex by making fun of them. That tends to make them sad and slow their stretch. Best way to keep a girl how you want them is to give them a complex.

ouch

Here is my personal take on this; I have no trouble creating big plants with multiple branches by simply fimming and tying down. It is beyond simple:

All you do is take the top 75-80% of the new growth of every top and side branch where it tops out...in other words when new little sprouts come out on top or on the other branches take a sharp scissors and cut off the top, leaving about 20%. That will grow back with double the sites. It also slows down the top enough for the side branches to catch up with the top, creating a bushy but low plant.

I love this technique as I always get bigger plants than someone who justs ties...fimming creates many new sites.Tying down is so simple. I use wire and bend the ends, pulling branches down until they are all even and no one is higher than any other...as they grow up you always keep all branches at the same height. The plant will keep growing and growing until you decide to bloom it.

I have a big Mandala #1 purple that is multibranched...4 feet wide and 4 feet tall..many sites..all because during veg I fimmed and tied...its really the only way for me.

I would take clones, grow them until you wat to flip them and then hit them with bushmaster or phospoload when they are in flower.

^^ as in more blue light = less stretching?

exact opposite, actually. not sure what muffynumnum was talking about. you could switch to a sodium in veg to slow your role. but yeah....smaller pots, SOG, LST, FIM, top, supercrop, any combination of the various methods.

Exact opposite to your exact opposite actually. Blue light is less stretch, red light is more stretch. This is pre pre-school stuff. PLEASE do some basic reading. Both of you.

Sometimes I really miss ol Ty Stik.
