I'll be sure to start a thread like this right before the next World Cup. :moon:

To tell the truth, I would rather be a rabid FAN of one of the Brit football teams. That looks like a helluva lot of fun. More fun than tailgating, anyway.

...so Dutchgrown sez:
I started this thread as a friendly jab at Gypsy cause he get's so passionate in defending the games here ....but then again, that's what he was raised around

Well of course he's defensive and a little hostile... he has a right to be... after all, he comes from the place where cricket was invented.

How embarrassing...

P.S. I sure hope that everyone can remember exactly what this thread is about, so we can give and take the most scorching insults while remembering that this is LITERALLY about nothing at all. Of course we all prefer the games we knew as children. How could it be any other way?

Even so, American football rules, the others are for ferriners and pussies.

american football is the real football. so what if the foot never touches the ball.except during a kickoff or a field goal, punt. that is what its called. Unlike soccer the true sport for girls, that wanna get kinda rough. Soccer is basically aerobics in outdoor whether. Soccer should just be played nowhere. And i agree with JustSayGrow. As i have fought in the cage myself 4 times 3-1. support your local nhb fighter.. nhb = no holds barred.

rugby is hands down without a doubt tougher than american football. American football is so embarrassing.

imo "real football" is where the players are playing for fun, not $$$.

celebration penalty anyone? When I heard about that one I thought " wow, they have successfully taken all the fun out of football" I used to watch alot of professional sports. I no longer have interest in any of them due to all the $ involved.

Gee I wonder why the game is called football in America?Could it be that the ball they're playing with is called a football?Eurogenuises lol soccer is played with a soccer ball not a football last time I checked.Seriously I dont know do you guys call a soccer ball a football?

Soccer is for fairys, seriously i cant count the amount of soccer matches i've watched where a player gets a light tackle and starts rolling on the ground like a baby.

Half the time there is no contact between the players and you have a guy on the ground pretending to be injured just to get a free kick and being a drama queen.

Real football to me is gaelic ( irish ) football, rugby or aussie rules, something with a bit of contact a few hard tackles and no prima donnas whinging that somebody stood on their toes.

I'd say real football is what the world knows as Football, futbol (soccer) etc. The name is apt (the game is based around skills with feet, excluding GK) and it is also widely known as football. Everyone outside the US calls their 'Football' - American Football. Football has also been around longer.

I'd also say rugby is tougher because they need endurance as well as power and speed. I remember my friends watching the super bowl and a player made a 100 yard dash and I made the joke that he would need an oxygen mask...then it actually happened, an athlete? I can understand a scuba diver needing oxygen, or someone who's been knocked out but come on.. Also rugby players get stamped on by people with studded boots.

Australian Rules Football... AFL for short. Look up Highlights for players like Leon Davis, Alan Didak, Daniel Motlop, Lance 'Buddy' Franklin and any other AFL players. As Hulk Hogan said during his recent visit down here at an AFL final- these guys are REAL footballers, no pads, no helmets, hitting each other at 100 miles an hour then getting straight up, running flat out for 2hrs, their amazing!
Listen to the bloke... he was right on the $$$!!!
