What's new

After six years, it begins again... My second grow

Hi C', my your girls have come on, they look wonderful, especially for only 27 days.
How is your PH?, that last pic, the 'rusty' spots!, that looks to my old eyes like the 'non specific nute deficit'* you get when the PH is out of the ideal range for MJ, it shows as these spots early on, when I used to get this I would notice my PH was below 5.2 and the EC was higher than the feed I used, regular flushing stopped this for me, I would check your run off before you increase the Potassium, I think if it was K the edges of affected leaves would show signs.

* non specific nute deficit - I coined this for this very sickness, do you think it will catch on :bigeye:

Copyright that term now! :) My runoff pH as of the last watering was 6.7 and I didn't use anything but cal-mag because with the couple waterings previously it seemed that I had given her too much food. As far as the nutrient levels, I'm back to where I saw the most production from the plant. The only thing I've increased in the Liquid Karma. From what I've read it is safe to add at nearly full dosage, 10ml a gallon.

Stunning Mr C, your 6 yr hiatus didn't harm your skills a bit, wonderful plants, wonderful photo's.

Still having a general nute deficiency but it is defintely slowing down since feeding on the first of October. My runoff was reading at 6.8 so I'm going to keep watering with a solution pH of 6.4-6.5. I don't want it hitting that upper limit and getting away from me. ;)

Btw, does anyone notice the orange hairs that are starting to show?

Day 40 was this last Monday and that is what is contained in the shots to follow. I've cut the cal mag per botanicare's recommendation of 1-2 weeks prior to pre-harvest. I'm continuing to feed with a 50% dose of PBP Soil, 70% Liquid Karma and 70% Sweet. I'll be feeding through next week until I start to see a few milky trichomes, then I'll water for a week with pH adjusted clearex solution. I'm hoping this all finishes well. Anyway enjoy the pics, I know I am. :D

Day 43 and I'm fucking stoked, she's looking beautiful! I'm getting slightly anxious because I don't want to leave these flowers to ripen too long and the trichomes already look milky to me due to light reflecting off of them. Any suggestions of how to tell? I've got a 20X Bausch & Lomb but it's hard to hold that damn thing steady. I think I may have to rig a stand of some sort. lol I hope you like the new pics. You'll also probably notice that the page loads faster now. I'm reducing all old posts to one pic each, the ones with the big pics anyway.

Oh! One more thing to add a little extra icing to this cake: 22 flowering tops + the main cola. :D :D :D

It's day 45 on the farm and I'm curious about anyone's perspective on harvesting time. I think it looks like I'm going to be within the range of 56-63 days but I don't really know. Thanks for your input.

Day 51 and I'm thinking these flowers still have a week and a half to go, calyx production has only really started moving in the past 5 days. A few leaves have turned yellow and the trichomes are started shifting color, we'll see where she sits this coming Wednesday.

What a stunner, how would you like a field full? I didn't see this as I posted, please excuse the double post
Hey C', you know any hand held reading magnifier should be enough to see changes in gland colour, I use a x10 jewelers loupe, cost £5 and I see perfectly well with it.

Hey man

No need to inform me of posts, I eventually will get to them, lol

I concur with most here, a bit more time... I would say at least a week, wait until all the hairs are brown, or at least most of them. That will pretty much tell you when they are ready. Although you want to check trichs, a healthy plant, the hairs will follow closely in terms of readiness.

If you have not already started, start flushing

I'm working with DP's Master Kush on this grow, only 2/10 seeds germinated in the lot I received. These seeds were from Seed Direct and I'm not shy about saying, I've ordered from Seeds Boutique for the next go round. A disappointing showing at the start but I think I'll manage. The first seedling emerged from the soil on 7/29.

It then stretched a bit on day 2.

Later on the 2nd day, the second seedling showed its little cotyledon above ground.

By the 4th day they both seemed to be taking off a bit. You'll also notice that the first seedling is much stronger than it's sibling.

I didn't snap any pics for several days but today (day 9) seemed like a good time to mark some worthwhile progress. I'm not sure what caused the crisping of the leaves in the first picture. I think it may have been that the plants were too close to the light, there was also a pH issue that I've taken care of with the most basic Hanna pH meter and some pH up and down. That stuff is potent! I quickly learned only a few drops are necessary. About the meter, the only issue I've noticed is that I need to calibrate a lot. I read through a post where Tom Hill mentioned cheap pH meters and I'm curious what would be the next best step up from what I'm using?

Anyway, I moved the plants down a couple inches, altered the pH and they both seem to be taking to it well. The slower sprouting/growing plant's soil is a slightly lower pH, 6.2 vs 6.4. I've let the soil dry out before watering, so I'm not sure what is causing it's drooping leaves but we'll see how things progress.

Finally, I love looking at all the growth taking place under the fan leaves. If anyone wants to describe what I'm seeing here, I'd appreciate it. For a little bit I thought I might be staring at preflowers but it seems waaaay too early for that.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my super basic grow. I'm having fun caring for these plants and I hope it shows in these pics.

give that bitch another 2 weeks and that shit will be rock hard funky dunky

My thoughts exactly. I want a stoney, smooth narcotic high to help with muscle tension.

Of course I've been flushing. :p I started this past Sunday and I have to water every two days. She is going to be good and clean by harvest time.

Thanks for the props. I look forward to your harvest and please believe there will be tons of updates as the drying and curing progresses. :D

It's day 54 and I think I'm going to be lucky if this plant is ready to harvest by this weekend. I think early to middle of next week. There are still so many white hairs popping out all over the place. I'll post pics tomorrow night.

Nice grow... Nice journal too....
Curious as to the hermie problem. You found balls only on the bottom branch? Plucked them once and it was over, or did you have to keep working her over?
Been 6 years since I grew too... about 27 days into some White Peak.. some old seeds I found in my things....

I had to pluck the footballs in one burst. I'd say it took maybe one or two days of scanning through the lower branches to notice all of the footballs. After that it has been completely smooth sailing. :)
