my friend Jeff comes over a couple times a week and he likes to
roll joints while I prefer bong hits. as soon as he lights the joint
he clips it with my hemostats, he puts those fuckers on a whole
joint for whatever reason, go figure.

I mostly smoke out of my bong or glass pipe. If I roll, its for a show or something outdoors. I have a couple of clips but haven't used them in years. My fingernails work just fine.

We use one of those desktop post it note holders, they have a perfect built in "roach" clip... the part that holes the note.

edit... like this

Haha, that's what I use.

2 things that I remember - DiscoBiscuit's Power Hitter (I had a blue one), and these rolling papers that had a wire glued into the length of 'em. As the joint got smaller, it exposed that wire, which you then bent @ a 45-degree angle when you were down to the roach. POOF - instant, built-in roach clip.

Anybody else remember those papers?

I remember using Randy's- very useful for massive shwag joints back in the day. I still use a roach clip if one's around.

Roach clips never caught on in the UK bacause most joints there are prepared with a rolled-up strip of paper or light cardboard stuffed in the non-lit end, which gives the J a cigarette-like look, and enables you to smoke it down to the nub with no risk of getting burnt fingers. When you start to taste paper, it is time to stub it out.

Nah, never have and I don't plan on buying any. But if you dig it, do it.

All of this has had a clip behind it...

I had a pair of clean hemos hanging from my rear view. Don't know if that would fly these days...or if leo even knows what they are.

Used to have this tellescoping roach clip, it was like a radio antenna with an alligator clip on the end. Lost it in a move cross country, but it was great when you couldnt quite reach.

These days I find putting a bit of rolled up paper at the end holds the joint open for great draw, and so much easier to handle right down to the end.

Looks cool in double wide cellulose wraps too.

Roach clips are like a retro smoking accessory. You won't find too many people with them these days, besides the new school hippies and such.

I still have mine but, it's more nostalgia than used. I use a stone holder these days. A flat circular rock with a hole drilled through it. Much easier to light smaller roaches without burning your lips.
i have one of these stone holders.. its older than me. its from a 1980 david bowie concert. its got his pic on one side. says bowie. :D haha

Yeah, the first Grolsch I opened after the switch to plastic was a sad day indeed (we still used the plastic tops as roach holders...we wuzn't reel smart) I rarely smoke in j form these days, only when my lighter is spent and I need something that I can light off the stove.

I don't have a "proper" clip, but usually use either one of those surgical clips (looks like a locking pair of scissors, 'cept they're dull) or a soldering heat sink (from radio shack!)
