EVERYTHING BOXING

I miss some fights also. It's easy to do, boxing gets so damn little coverage aside from websites...

You are right, the first fight was a draw. I just had Manny winning on my card. The fight pretty much came down to whether or not you scored that first round blitz 10-7 or 10-6.

Definitely try to watch the rematch on youtube. Marquez fought an excellent fight, but the 3rd round knockdown for Manny was a beauty.

I'd be shocked if Shane fought Williams. Long rangy guys with good technical skills are all wrong for him (Forrest and Winky).

Shane put on a clinic for the ages against Margarito. I've always been a Sugar fan, so that softened the blow a little when I lost my "over" bet. It was amazing seeing him absolutely obliterate the guy who steamrolled Cotto.

I would have scored that round a 10-6 myself. I am not a judge though. I could not see giving Marquez the win because of the first but he damn sure deserved the draw. To come back from a round like that take a hell of a performance and I think he did it. Marquez has great skill but nowhere near the chin of Manny. That is why I am so impressed with his performances against Manny. He has been the only one in my eye to give the modern Manny any trouble. I hope they fight again. Still have to catch the second.

I agree that Williams is the wrong guy for Mosley. He looked damn good against Margarito. I thought I had heard the other day that they were scheduled to fight. I was wrong. I think it would be interesting but hard to prejudge. I am trying to remember who Teddy Atlas said was going to fight on the last fight night I watched. It was a pretty good one that is supposed to happen in june.

I like to watch up and comers. I'm into the belt chase stuff, mostly because they are easy to catch on ppv or replays. I probably haven't missed a good title match in 5 years. I like Yuriorkis Gamboa currently from the new crowd.

Out of the big names I really like Paul Williams (can't wait for his fight against Winky Wright), Hopkins, and Pavlik.

Gamboa is a stud. So what if he gets hit, making it through twelve rounds against him is going to test anybody at 126 or 130.

I'm real curious to see how this Guillermo Rigondeaux guys does in the pros. Another Cuban star, only this guy's resume puts Yuri's to shame. Just defected about a month ago.

my all time fav tho is 'shannon briggs'...his career went downhill after he put a (NY Giants) NFL player out for good in a bar fight...and a bad lawsuit that followed.

briggs could beat anyone...he lost to foreman, but that was BS.....those judges weren't gonna let foreman lose w/out a KO.

ya, dont get me wrong, i love mma. i have to admit i watch it more than boxing now adays....mainly because there is so much quality competition in the mma world. we really got cheated outta boxing...the sport just kinda collapsed in a heap of greed and corruption....the fights over the last two decades that we were deprived of due to crooked promoters, managers refusing to take the best fights, fighters trying to pad thier records and make it for the scumbags in charge....its a damn shame what they did to boxing..maybe the greatest tragedy in sports history.....i cling to the hope that it will make a comeback.....as long as there are poor folks in the world there will be boxing!

i honestly think mma/ufc is a fad, but not a fad that will die....(good shit)

boxing won't die out either or it would have already.

i love love love boxing...

boxing promoters are old school cats, and need to get more creative in promoting the sport.

... and the $50 dollar pay per view per fight shit has gotta go...

i really wish mcain had not given up on this....it was one of his top priorities at one point...think he kinda gave up the fight when ufc implemented new rule changes and cleaned mma up a bit. then of course, that ill fated little run at a higher office.

does anyone remember john mccain talking about heading up the federal regulation of boxing? i wish he would get back on that. i love mma as much as i love boxing, but if we dont control all the crooked promoters, boxing will be on the way out. i dont listen to those that say its already gone. mma has not yet even come close in worldwide pay per view excitement and revenue to boxing, but if younger generations dont get to see quality boxing matches, they will not love the sweet science like many of us do!
---i propose one sanctioning body. the usa boxing federation. even money in all weight classes(shit, go ahead and unionize it). that way, all the fighters HAVE to fight the best in order to get the belt. it would instantly provide the best boxing matches, and the matchups the fans wanna see, all the time. they could learn a thing or two from dana.

Seems crazy to me to pay $50 for a fight you can always either stream live, download the next day, or go to a local sports bar and watch for free. But I'm a bit of a cheapskate I guess. :)

there is a decision to make this saturday boxong or mma.. 100% of the time mma wins over but, this weekend i think i want to see if marquez can beat maywheather.. Should actually not be a boring fight.. floyd has such speed in those hands and marquez well, he can take a punch and deliver it also.. Shall be interesting to see the outcome.. peace.
