Colorado Cannabis Caregivers' Cup
In conjunction with the One Love, People Get Ready Festival
Featuring reporter Dan Skye of High Times
Sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Caregivers Cooperative
Music by: Trick Shot, a local rockin' blues band, a hip-hop dance troupe and more!

Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009
4:00 pm til 10:00 pm
Oriental Theatre
4335 W 44th Ave
Denver, CO
Have you ever wanted to have your garden featured in High Times? This could be your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Dan Skye of High Times magazine is coming to Colorado to write a feature story about the emerging medical cannabis industry in Colorado, the #2 state in the nation for medical cannabis.

Dan will be covering the Cannabis Health Fair at the University of Colorado, Boulder on Sept. 12 and interviewing all the sponsors and speakers. Dan also wants to photograph the best Colorado medicines for inclusion in the article.

So, in honor of High Times' visit, RMCC is announcing the first annual Colorado Cannabis Caregivers' Cup, a competition among legal patients and caregivers to see who has cultivated the "best" medicine. This competition will take place in conjunction with the "One Love, People Get Ready" entertainment event at the Oriental Theatre on Sunday, Sept. 13, sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Caregivers Cooperative. So, in addition to getting to see some of Colorado's best medicines, you will get to hear great music, speakers and meet a lot of other patients and caregivers.

CANNABIS CAREGIVERS' CUP MEDICINE ENTRIES
If you are proud of your garden and would like to enter take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get your medicine in High Times, here are the rules:
1) You must be a legal Colorado patient or caregiver.
2) A $50 donation or equivalent raffle items will be requested for your entry fee. Even if your pix don't appear in High Times, we will post photos of all entries on caregiverscup.com
3) You must provide adequate samples of your medicine in a glass jar. All medicine will be photographed for possible inclusion in High Times, so pick your most photogenic buds. Medicine will not be returned but will be donated to needy patients.
4) Entries must be received between 4:00pm and 5:00pm at the Oriental Theatre on Sept. 13
5) Each medicine jar must have a label which includes:
Name: Cultivator's name as they would like to be credited in High Times, should their sample win.
Strain:
Method grown:
Indoor or outdoor:
Elevation grown:
Organic or non-organic:
Medicinal testimonials: What conditions does this strain work well for?

JUDGING
Judging: The judges will be all the legal patients at the event. Each patient will be given a scorecard. Since different cannabis strains are used to treat so many different conditions, judging the "best" medicine would be impossible. Therefore, we will judge the medicine based on aesthetic properties. Awards will be given in these categories: Most Photogenic, Best Aroma, Stickiest Bud and the coveted Patient's Choice Award.

VENDOR TABLES:
Want to table at the event? Send an email to info@colorado420.com to reserve a spot. We will contact you on Monday, Sept. 7. The cost will be $75 for tables.

MEDICINE
Medicine-dispensing and medicine-combustion will not be allowed at this event. However, the Rocky Mountain Caregivers Cooperative will have vaporizers available for legal patients and "pot luck" food contributions will be donated to share.

Please note: This is not a public event. Access is limited only to legal patients and caregivers showing positive, affirmative defense as provided by the Colorado Department of Health Medical Marijuana Registry, as well as accompanying state-issued photo identification at the door. This is solely an educational gathering. Absolutely no medication will be dispensed on site. Rules prohibit any discussion of specific instances of securing medication with "no drug dealing" allowed in "any way, shape or form" onsite during this event. We reserve the right to refuse entry to this private gathering.

This event is sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Caregivers Cooperative.

I've been waiting for something like this, but unfortunately the tards at hightimes have stepped in.

I would love to go up against other Co people. But I would say anyone who enters a sample should get to judge and other patients caregivers pay $50 to get in.

I def won't be participating in this one. But if someone else puts together a good comp. I'm def in.

and aesthetics. damn maybe I will enter this comp after all.

This was distributed by Comidnightrider, he has been known to treat patients bad and outrageous prices. There's an angle here working, I haven't figured it out yet though.

Just got back from Green Cross or http://www.cannabisdenver.com/ They have a new address. They have only been here a few weeks but what a nice place.
If you go down Parker Rd from 225 the shopping center after Dayton is where you can find the Green Cross back in the corner.
1842 S Parker Rd, Denver, CO 80231
720-323-0974

They are way awesome and you can tell he is really into it.. He is more about the Medicine that the money.. at least it felt that way.

They have good prices on Meds nothing over 65 but you can get really good stuff for 60... and They have huge clones...
There clones are like Trees. Compared to some of these dead twigs some are trying to sell.. taller than 4 inches and they are always being changed out.

They give Meds in bottles not zip lock bags and put it in a prescription pharmacy bag.
They take Cash Only
The Med you look at is the Med you get no pulling from under the counter or from another jar/bag...
They have a huge Magnifying glass so you can see that it hasn't been screened.. and they encourage you to look at it.
If you have ever been to a place that truly loves what they do you will know the second you enter and that is what this place is.

I have found a new home until something better comes along

I got an 8th of Skunk#7 and some Trash for 60 an 8th.
The clone was freaking huge so i paid 40 for it the smaller clones are cheaper.
This Clone was called Purple Dragon.

They have some GDP Hash for 40 per gram it looked very nice

They have the best setup so far and a huge section and it doesn't have the crack house feel so many of them have.

I think you can just stop in after your first visit. This place reminds me of a jewelry store as you can walk around and browse.

they have Great parking and easy access.

Everyone should check this place out.

Pics:
I could easily take a clone and start flowering this today.. it has enough for a few clones to be pulled off already.

Skunk #7 is a really nice uplifting smoke and so far has calmed down my nerve pain and my back as well.
To me is has a numbing effect and a really smoke tasteful smoke. Smells like incenses.. its the kind my wife hates to smell. I guess its really sweat to those that dont smoke.. I think it was a good choice. Cured really well and leaves a nice white ash that doesnt stick to your bowl.

Most of my methods used are standard Spoon Pipe and some time I Vaporize.. and when nothing is working i break out the bong.
Haven't needed the bong in awhile..

Hello everyone,
I saw that Paco mentioned Blue Dreams & Headband... I was fortunate enough to find them both out here, in a disp. in western CO; I've been enjoying both of 'em for the past couple weeks; and both, are really nice!!

There is some top notch stuff floating around out here, (even though it is quite expen$ive.) There is one dispensary that I usually go to, as they've got much better stuff than the other disp's around here. [The others tend to have a lotta schwagg; hairy, air-y, poorly-dried, popcorn buds; & beaster'esque buds. And anything they do get that is 'med worthy', is usually supplied by the disp. I frequent anyways, so there isn't really any reason to go to 'em.] I picked up something there a couple weeks ago, that they called "Nice Trash", that was just amazing. (Mr.Nice X "Trash" is what I was told by the shopkeep...), it's def. the one of best things I've seen out here in the past month. ...I really ought to take & post some pix. :chin:

Other recent top finds: some nice Trainwreck; ??-Berry Kush, (I think they called it Blackberry Kush...poor memory); and something they called "Lemon Purple", that was divine. [I apologize for not having strong enough 'descriptive skills' to feel comfortable enough to attempt a 'smoke report'.]
They've had dift. grades of hash too, from pressed kief to melty-bubble; I picked up some nice bubble, (it's not full melt mind you; but it melts nicely & tastes delicious), which I've enjoyed quite a lot as well.

Anyways, thought I'd give a status update on the med scene out on the 'western slope'.:
I hope this finds you all well, and medicated! :smoke:

Thornton debates highs, lows of medical pot
By Brady Delander | Staff Writer | September 05, 2009 01:51

Citing the need for more information, explanation and reflection, the Thornton City Council is considering a moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries while an ordinance is prepared for the next regular meeting.

During the moratorium, city staff won't accept applications for those seeking to open dispensaries or growing facilities, and applications currently on file will not be processed. If the ordinance is approved next week, the council will have until the end of January 2010 to reach a decision on the issue.

After hearing from the city attorney, who detailed the conflict between current federal law and Amendment 20 to the Colorado Constitution, as well as city police officers. During a planning session Tuesday, most of the council expressed internal conflict over the subject of medical marijuana.

"I'm really torn with this, and there are a lot of unanswered questions," said Rebecca Cavanaugh-Miller, Ward 3. "I don't want to play God, and I don't want to pretend that I'm a doctor."

There is at least one marijuana dispensary currently operating within city limits, illegally according to City Attorney Margaret Emerich. Dispensaries and grow operations violate the city's development code because neither is a permitted use of land. There are current police investigations examining the dispensaries now open here and how to deal with them.

Northglenn and Greeley recently enacted moratoriums on the issue, while Aurora and Littleton explicitly prohibit the practice. Broomfield, Commerce City and Arvada are among several jurisdictions still in discussion over the matter.

Westminster, Denver, Boulder Wheat Ridge and Lakewood currently allow medical marijuana dispensaries, but the Westminster City Council plans to examine the issue sometime this fall.

The debate about medical marijuana dispensaries and growing operations has been hot in the north metro area and around the nation since U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said in March that the U.S. government would not enforce the federal law. Current federal law prohibits the possession, sale or growth of marijuana.

Amendment 20, approved by state voters in November 2000, allows for the medical use of marijuana by qualified patients. The amendment does not address land-use issues.

Twelve states, including Colorado, have enacted laws that allow the use of medical marijuana. There were 593 patients registered in Adams County as of June 30, and nearly 9,000 statewide.

Thornton Police Chief Jim Nursey and Cmdr. Jerry Peters, soon to be the head of the North Metro Task Force, addressed the council and said that approximately five dispensaries opened across the state between 2001-07. There were about 10 operating in Denver this time last year, and that number has more than quadrupled to 45 today with more opening all the time.

Nursey and Peters raised law enforcement concerns associated with current dispensaries, citing several local and national examples. Nursey also warned against opening the door to wanna-be dispensary owners everywhere.

"My fear is if we allow it and many other areas don't allow it, we likely could see a haven effect," he said.

As the council debated the topic, it became apparent that more time was needed before formally tackling the issue. Councilmember Steve Lebsock, Ward 1, said a more varied panel was needed before making any decisions.

"This is a respected panel," Lebsock said motioning to Nursey and Peters, "but we're only getting one side of the story."

A future panel could include doctors on both sides of the issue, a current dispensary operator and patients.

"There's no need to rush into a decision," said Eric Tade, councilmember for Ward 4. "Bring back a more representative panel and data and see what the pros and cons are in jurisdictions that allow it."

That whole "against federal law" argument is getting old. States have rights beyond the reach of federal laws.

Greetings readers.

Last week I made an appointment with Green Mountain Care in Littleton. Went in today and had a longish 2 hr appointment - the vast majority in the waiting room - for a holiday weekend - it was swamped --- nm, what was I thinking! LOL

Being over 50 and never officially diagnosed with ADD and irritable bowl - I had no secondary conformation of my condition - when I was a kid - I was labeled a smart ass-ed trouble maker - they didn't have ADD yet -- and I don't need a doctor to tell me when my gut hurts -- so it was a bit of a push to get the paperwork thru - the Dr. said they would like to see a second conformation next time. Next spring we have a local 9 health fair - that will be a good start. anyway,,,, It is easier and cheaper if you have previous doctors records. And, not all who apply are approved, so be forewarned and do some homework.

OK, got approved get to the med desk - no Diesels! - bummer!! But they had probably a dozen choices - several familiar names and some odd-ball crosses. My choices were AK-47 - and strawberry something or something strawberry - got an 1/8 of AK and the complimentary gram of the strawberry. Both are quality cuts - clean burn with gray white ash - best store bought buds I ever had. Only store bought buds ever!

Place seems to function with a degree of kaos, but for alternative medicine - that's not all that unusual.

Side note - the application has a place for your ssn - I left mine blank - any photo copies or scans won't have that info - and you can fill it in prior to mailing.
