A 4x4 calls for 800 watts which takes a fan in the 500 cfm range. What size is your lamp(s)? What kind of fan? What size are your intakes and how many?

I have 600 watt hps ,I have a vortex 6 in 465 cfm for exhaust, I have just the three port open for the intake I have Vortex 4in 122 cfm on the way because the other did not work

I run a DR80 tent, 400w, 4" Vortex. What are the temps like in the room your tent is located? If you can cool those down, the temps in your tent will drop as well.

Is it 118 cfm or 465 cfm? That's a big difference. You have 2 fans and now you're adding a third? Are you doing separate venting for cab and hood?

You need to tell us what's going on if you want helpful answers.

I am in the process of getting a 2nd fan a 122 cfm to act as a intake.
118 is the cfm in my grow room.
would i need a AC in the room where the grow room is located to keep the overall room about 75 deg because temp do climb when equipment in on I have sleep in the same room as the equipment.
would I need a AC in the grow room.
do I have to get a 6 in vortex intake fan to push the air to the hood and connect the hood to the 2nd 6in Vortex exhaust Fan then install a 3rd fan to exhaust the tent and finally a 4th fan for the intake of the tent
Thanks

So the ambient air temps (air temperature of the room the grow tent sits in) are 80-85?!

I'm guessing you are exhuasting all that hot air back into the room your grow tent sits in..that's a no no becuase it causes the air temp of the room to go up which causes the air temps in the grow tent to go up.

You need to set your central A/C to 68-72 or start exhuating out a window or to another room or into the attic to keep the main room from heating up.

I run a 4x4 tent with a 600w and 6" vortex....in a 10x10 bedroom.

I have no reflector, just a bare bulb hung vertically.

I have a small, window banger a/c (5050 btu) that stays set on 70f and runs 24/7. My 600w has been running 24/7 as well for vegging.

My temps in the tent run 75-76f.

This is with the vortex running wide open....but very soon I'll be using a speed controller to reduce the noise of the fan, and slow the stinky air passing thru my filter. I expect the temps to raise a few degrees when the fan is turned down, but it shouldn't be a problem.

My exhaust isn't ducted anywhere, just right back into the room.

Oh yeah....This set-up has been running for a month now, and with the a/c and light running 24/7, it only added about $40 to my bill.

The key is to reduce the temps in the room where the tent is.:joint:

I am exhausting the cab to the outside of the house.
I will get a AC to cool the room, will this cool the cab as well?

sounds like your living in the south were its hot and your set up is a winter one, i think u should go to a few 150 hps lights or a 400, just my two cents.

As long as you have sufficient passive intake then yes.

You need to get the main rooms temps (the ambient temps) down to something reasonable though...like 70-75 degrees.

My last grow in my old apartment I had my central A/C set to 70-72,and with a 4" 172cfm inline cnetrifugal (used to ventilate the grow and air-cool my 400w HPS) I was seeing the temps in my cab at about 8f degrees above ambient (which as stated above was 70-72f) so the temps at the canopy in my cab were 78-80f.

To find out your t-diff take a temperature reading outside of the tent from within the intake(s) and write it down. Now take temp reading inside the tent in the passive intake(s) then take a reading at plant canopy then a reading at the exhuast.

Find the difference in temperature between your intake (outside of tent) and your exhuast air.

For reference we'll say your intake air temp is 74f and your exhuast is 85f...you would have an 11f t-diff (temperature difference).

Your problem is your exhausting hot air back into the room. So hot air is continually being recycled. The best thing to do is exhaust out a window or attic.

that is the exact problem...i had the same problem exhausting back into the room..

I run a 4x4 tent as well with a 600hps. COOLTUBE

I run a 6" 483 Vortex on the cooltube on a speed controller set to the lowest setting to help with the noise but still cools the light to a touch....pulling straight threw to a 90 degree bend into the attic.

i then run a 14" carbon filter on a 6in rvk 285 cfm fan on full blast to another 90 degree angle straight up to the attic

Inside i run a tower lesko fan...the expensive one!

My temps never reach above 76 degrees and it doesnt get much hotter than where i live in the summer or winter!

if you need pics ill post some up but the explanation is pretty easy!

Killa12345 my man
If I understand this correctly you have a fan for the hood(pushing air outside),one to exhaust the tent(air from the tent to outside and 3rd fan to intake the air.(air from outside to the tent)
Will I need a AC in the Main Grow room with your current system my room have been know to have high temps
