I seen so much of europe including Amsterdam smoked my whole 3 years. Then I got out and started growing.

I don't think you can smoke in the military these days.

I'd like to counter the advice given earlier to ppl under 21... Do ANYTHING except join the military- flip burgers, work in a call center, etc..

That might have been true 50 years ago, but I don't believe occupying Iraq or Afganistan is necessary to protect our freedom, just certain rich peoples' interests.

Let me qualify what I said earlier- Fuck the Army under every administration since Kennedy's.

If you're already in the service, God Bless Ya, I'm all for you. If you're not, you're lucky. Stay lucky, and stay out the military.

I did a tour in the Navy. It was an interesting experience. The mililtary is one of thoes things where it's for some people and definatly not for others. I met some interesting people in the service.... thats for sure. Over all, it was a good experience. I didnt care for the life style though. If I could give some advice to anyone going into any branch, it would be this: DONT GET MARRIED! Stay single if your going into the military!

Damn, i wish i could have found this thread earlier, because i agree with most of you FUCK the ARMY. Though I'm talking about the ARMY not the Military , they are NOT the same thing. If you are really worried about dieing, actually going into combat, or are simply joining to ensure your future DO NOT GO TO THE ARMY/MARINES. Right now the military is the only recession proof job, and you can have them pay for your education so you can make sure when you get out you have a future. Personally I suggest the Air Force, my bother, both my sisters, and two of my cousins have enlisted. I myself am going to join as an officer. If you believe you are intelligent enough to do it this way by all means do. When you join as an officer the Air Force will put you through college for the first 2 years in order for you to get your first degree, then you go in to service as a Lieutenant. Afterward you will work towards completing your education while serving. It is a great program, and even though all branches have something similar, the Air Force's is by far the best for ensuring a career after leave.

The only draw back is you can't smoke for a few years, but that is a small price to pay for a financially secure life. Then once you get out you can grow and smoke all the pot you want .

Don't fall for it kids, unless you want to give away all your freedom for however long they can con you into signing up for. You'll be better off hustling two civilian jobs- at least you can quit if you want to, or tell your boss to suck your dick. Not in the military. Don't fall for it, kids. I'm not saying it's evil, but some of those recruiters are close. Take a good hard look at it before you sign on the line.

Been there dude. My advice is to stay away from the military. It's hard to mentally divorce yourself from a pretty crappy mental outlook that is preached and ingrained in military society. Speaking more to the day-to-day, military life sucks big ass. Especially for people who are into exploring socially alternative means of spending leisure time, like pot enthusiasts. That's not to say the two subcultures can't mesh, but I do think the fact that you are here implies a sense of civil disobedience and intellectual outlook that would not get you off to a great start in a career where you never get to ask why-even for a second.

Or maybe I misread you entirely. Maybe you're here because you used pot for all the wrong reasons(lazy, escape from tough mental decisions, and so on), you need discipline, you need to feel respected by your social peers as opposed to shuned(military folks, pot growers-180 degree apart socially)because you haven't reached that point of self awareness yet, and so on. Or maybe you like to blow shit up a lot and don't care for brown people under your breath-both of which are great qualities for future military personnel.

As I've said(biases not hidden), I think the military sucks, for a variety of reasons. I didn't even get political/moral-I don't feel that the thinking process needs to get that far to be thoroughly dismissible. But it certainly has advantages for some people.

Hey man...I just had to say that I know Pedro personally and you got him all wrong. Let every soldier deal with war in their own way....you didn't get Pedro's humor, but I do...I know him.
