Aero would you recommend going 1/4 inch all round? I can't find a suitable sized res so I'm increasingly thinking your (very smart) DIY approach will have to be mine too. I'd go thin for the lid, with maybe your tip of Vaseline and sealant making a tight fit for the lid.

Can I just check the name of that glue too?..
'Weld_On #3' (Weld On Number 3) is that right?

If emptying your rez weekly (with the basic bubbly DWC I'm planning) can you see a problem with roots/plants getting in the way or? Cheers!

1/4 inch would be fine for a whole sump, it's because of cost I use and recommend 1/8 for the sides. It also allows a little more water to fit in a tight place. If you use 1/8 for the lid, you will need to add the spines as pictured for my spray bar because 1/8 acrylic will warp and lose it's seal without extra support.

Yes Weld_On #3 for acrylic, just watch it wick all the way down the seam and it's welded into a single piece of acrylic water tight.

The best way to empty the res is to get a small powerhead from an aquarium store such as a Rio 90 (very small pump) and cheap too. run a hose through the lid and cap it off. when you want a res change just un cap it, plug it in, and pump it into a bucket. This creates less stress to the plants, and if you change it weekly it doesn't need to be scrubbed out until after harvest. I change my res weekly because it's small, water is cheap, and I don't have PH probs this way nor do I need to check EC PPM. If I start it at 5.3- 5.5 PH and do no adjusting of nutes for the week, it usually gets to 6.0-6.2 right before it's changed. IMO that's a nice PH swing and it's treated me well. Also this is only possible with R/O or Distilled water.

Hey Aero, You use 2 in net pots? If so, im assuming the opening is 2in, but could you measure the from edge of lip for me? I am trying to take measurements and set up for my next grow and am trying to figure out how many net pots i can stuff around 2-3 36w PL-L, i was going to use the 55w, but that would only leave me 3 inch height for the rez lol

Thanks bro and lovely cab.

and about the weld on #3, it seems its hard to come by and from what i have read you may need to order it online because they don't usually sell it at home depot and lowes and such.

Jebus11, good to hear from you again. The lip of the net pot measures 4mm so 59mm total across the pot will fit your pattern for mock up. Use a 51mm (2 inch) Hole saw for the holes.

The Weld_on #3 is hard to come by as far as Lowes and Home depot but any plastics supplier online will ship it to you for a reasonable price. It's even easy to find on 3bay and shipped internationally. No need for stealth here, buying acrylic glue isn't something you need to hide from anyone.

P.S. When working with epoxy, one key thing to remember. Glass cuts (even if it's plastic). The edges of epoxy cut me like 10 times building my sump.
Melkor, very good point I completely forgot to mention!! How could I forget after I failed to warn you and band aids were needed :cuss:

Safety first, acrylic can cut the crap out of ya!!!

As far as the clones go, they are very healthy with some white bumps but no real roots yet. I have been having a little trouble controlling the root zone temp but it's almost dialed in now. The radiator will remain off until roots emerge, It's been a little too cool 70F but it looks like some adjustments brought it up to 75.6 and it's holding steady.

I'm looking forward to learning your fimming skills when these root and go into veg.
:wallbash: Root dammit root :wallbash: Until then :jerkit:

Thanks for the info bro!! and grats on post 420! and i like the avatar uber pwnerer haha

Seems i can get 13 clones around 2 36w. vertically of course. I think that it will utilize the lights best that way and i can flower at like 5 inch.

My best plant which has such a great leaf to calyx ratio is getting a shade of purple on a bud and some leaves... Bagseed rocks!

I just hope i can reveg her successfully , ill kick myself in the ass if i can't keep the genes.

Thanks for all the info you have provided these forums with!

Nice one Aero cheers for the info!

I'm not gonna lie, I had to read this bit a few times, before it sank in...

I'm quite picky about neatness so I'll be 'aiming' for your finish with all this so wish me luck. Time to crack on with the research. :joint:

I am expecting roots any day now as white bumps are clearly showing up all over the stalks. Here is how the Afgooey clones are looking at this point.

In this pic you can see the fog slowly seeping from the net pot, the rocks are always wet like this so I made some foil covers to keep the light from making mold..

Seeing such a good example of the fog exiting, would it be fair to say your humidity will be higher than before?

I was expecting a humidity rise too but so far humidity is same as ambient. I even tested the hygrometer to be sure it worked! Maybe it's because the fog slowly rises out of the pots but the air in the case is exchanged too often for it to build up. Well, that's my only theory and it will have to do for now lol. I also ordered a back up fogger because I have heard they are prone to failure and I would not have time to order another in event of failure. With a bit of luck, I should have some root shots to share soon....

after roots comes the growth! cant wait bro, im putting a guess on 65G on this run. (aslong as the fogger works out for you)

Cork144, thanks for the vote of confidence mate! I especially like the (as long as the fogger works) escape clause.. I will be using this one too. Since the sump is modular, I can pop a new aero chamber in there if the fogger fails me. I have a second module with a spray bar already built. I also have some backup clones rooting should I need them.

Thanks Polish400 and piradio, appreciate you stopping by!!!

Good news (well sort of) I have roots but only on 1 of the clones. I have been struggling with root zone temps (too cold) which is sort of a good thing for the flowering but not for cloning. I guess an aquarium heater is in order for next time I try to clone with this rig.. I hope the other clone roots because if it doesn't, I'm in for a long veg period because I'm filling the screen all the way this time even if I only have 1 plant!!! Here is a (little) root porn:

The rooted clone is almost ready for veg and sadly the other has died :puppydoge: The backup clones aren't rooted yet and I don't want any more delays so the new plan is to throw the mother plant in the aero machine when the clone gets to the screen... The mother is about screen height at the moment in soil under low wattage, We will see how this works out??? :joint:
