Two Billion Marijuana Plants Seized & Burned!

The DEA can brag all they want about busting big grows in America, but apparently nothing compares to this cannabis haul in Turkey! Authorities are reporting that 2 billion plants were destroyed in an operation that included burning the plants over the course of four days.

The value of the crop was put at $20 Billion. Another two tons of hashish was discovered nearby. It took hundreds of soldiers several days to destroy the cannabis plants.

yeah, I doubt it too. they just got tired of counting! Although if it's all set out in rows and columns it wouldn't be hard to add up. Then again there is the European way of counting using "," instead of "." that may have thrown off American editors. If the decimal place was counted wrong, it might be 20 million plants instead of 2 billion...

Even that # of plants is hard to wrap one's head around... but it would be fun to wrap it around one's head!

The story says: 4.6 million square meters of land were under cultivation. How big is that in acres or square miles?

I don't know? I personally know of a outdoor grow in cali that was seized that had 150 plants...... The papers said it was over 2000!!!! I think these cops are all the same. I'm not sure, cause I'm not a "farmer on a ranch" but does anybody know what the logistics would be to plant 2 BILLION plants? I don't, but would love to know. Like huge corn field farmers, the largest in the world, would they have 2 billion corn plants planted? just seems like a SHIIIIIIIIIIIIT load to me.

It's an absurd amount. Even if you figured SMALL outdoor plants in a crowded area thats at most 4,000 plants an acre or 500,000 acres planted which is about 80 square miles. I'm gonna have to say BULL.

Thats what I would think. I keep picturing a giant river going into/or near that property and a tiny brook flowing out, and all the people down stream THIRSTY like a mother f@#ker! LOL

gotta be bull. I just did the math. 4.6 million sq meters = less than 1200 acres. If you could do 4,000 plants an acre that would be 4,800,000 plants. So that's closer to my 20 million plant figure, but still too much unless they were growing more than 4,000 per acre.

I think something got lost in the translation (like about 1.5 billion plants!).

But it makes a GREAT headline!

You know very soon police are going to have be much more accurate about their seizures. Esp. if they are LEGAL grows and they find out later they must return all the seized plants, or REFUND their STATED VALUE!

So we need to catch some of these police actions that set the value too high and then SUE them to pay back for the lost medicine.

I'd like to see them put a high value on some big grow, then destroy the plants then have to pay the MILLIONS they say the crop was worth. Once the police set a value, that's it for legal purposes. Once the crop is destroyed there is no way to determine another value...

Yeah those assholes can't even count. I'd be in court and would demand to not only see every single plant, but I wouldn't settle for anything less than the exact weight of THC contained therein, as only the THC is a mind altering drug, the rest does little to nothing and is basically hemp.

I swear, a good lawyer could pull this off...
