Canna-Honey? Someone help!, lol

After our friend got back from Cali with those gifts for us, hubby and I REALLY enjoyed the canna honey and toast. It tasted like normal honey. Most canna-infused foods we have had where too over powering. This was Perfect?
Does anyone know how we would make this? Would we use kief as opposed to bubble or bud? Would we combine the kief and coconut oil for afew hours, then mix with honey?

Just rambling, anyone's help would be awesome!

peace love and smoke pot!

“Honey crystallizes with the herbs as it ages, and this magnifies the potency of both.” from Opening Our Wild Hearts to the Healing Herbs

This recipe is not canna-specific, it can be used for any herb.

-Fill a jar with fresh finely chopped up leaf and/or bud.
-Slowly cover the herbs with raw unfiltered unheated honey, poking down the herbs with a wooden stick to prevent air bubbles.
-Fill the jar all the way with honey, no air space at all.
-Cover and let it infuse at least 6 weeks.
-Use unfiltered (this is why the herb must be finely chopped).

If using dried plant matter, only fill the jar ¼ of the way with herb, and fill the rest of the way with honey.

I don’t see why you couldn’t use hash or keif, but Im not sure how much you would use. I guess you would have to figure out how many doses of hash/keif you had compared to servings of honey. I don’t know how a sticky bubble hash would disperse in honey. Maybe keif might distribute better.

Hmmm..... I think I'll try this with hash. Does anyone want to try it with keif, or bud, or leaf? We can do a comparson. Im always down to try new things.

i think canna-honey might be dangerous for me.
my belly already looks enough like winnie-the-pooh's.
i'd use hash or kief in a heartbeat, though, and avoid the herbal particulate.

I think it will activate with no heat. I made some with frosty leaf but havent tried it yet.

thc is heat activated but maybe sitting so long has the same effect???

Ive heard of people making potent canna butter with out using heat and doing a long soak instead.

Hmmmmm.... so what would happen if you did heat it up? Im not a very patient person, unless I have to be.

boil a pot of water. put a mason jar of honey in the water and let it come to temperature. then dissolve the kif in the hot honey. this will decarbolyze the cannabinoids, greatly increasing the potency.

Amber Tric - perhaps the butter was used in a recipe in which it was heated?

note - you could microwave the honey, but I like the pot method better.

Whats with the need for no air space? Would that apply only to if your letting it sit for 6 or more weeks?

I only use ice hash for edibles nowadays, the taste is usually hardly even noticeable and the end product is stronger. Leaf makes stuff taste chlorophylly and leaves leaf in your teeth..

That sounds like the most feasible. We tried it and LOVED it from the dispensary. I WILL be using kief. Only question is can the honey maintain its form at those temps? It wont boil or carmelize?...
thanks for the help guys!

good vibes

Sugary stuff always seems to be able to get much hotter than boiling water (ouch) - making candies the temps get quite high. Honey isn't just sucrose but I can't imagine you having any problems in a water bath. When my honey gets crystally I heat it up and it helps get back to normal -- I think the crystally stuff is more a product of time.

carmelization temperatures

Fructose 110°C, 230°F
Galactose 160°C, 320°F
Glucose 160°C, 320°F
Sucrose 160°C, 320°F
Maltose 180°C, 356°F

I'm going to whip some up next time I have some kief, I love me some real butter and honey on good toast :chin:

Wow!!!! So many great ideas. We are going to try it with the kief. We need heat to make it work. I don't have that much patients so one at a time.. lol...

When I do the honey you all will be the first to know.

Peace love and smoke pot!!!!!!!:joint:

Although honey doesn't usually spoil, if it is exposed to air it will absorb moisture reducing sugar content, this can result in ruined honey, ( as sugar is the preservative) i would think this is the reason to have no air, the 6 weeks is the time the infusion takes, you could refrigerate after that to preserve it.

Any cooking extraction or infusion for edibles will be much more potent if you heat the herb or hash to 325 for five minutes before using it. Up to twice as potent.
