Wanna Ask The Old Farts A Question?

Hi again. If U wouldnt mind I come back to my maturing question.
That picture Ive taken 2 days ago (I think so...). Atm I simply cant get 30x magnification glass. The buds are red wine coloured (I think its because of resin colour), there are around 90% of brown pistils, but it has some "foxtails". Leaves starting to loose color and "burn".
I simply cant figure out how much time does it need?
I ask because ,Ive heard that when you keep plant too long THC converts into CBD (is it true?)
btw strain is ice from fs and its planted in "12/12 from seed" light regiment.

Yes that's true, that's one of the Cannabinoids that THC breaks down to but there are others, also CBD can exist along side THC really what THC mostly breaks down to is CBN. This wikipedia entry on Cannabinoids has alot of good info on Cannabinoids.

As for maturity, without seeing the trichomes there is no accurate way to judge the maturity or ripeness. You can get fairly close going by the hairs, the overall appearence, whether it still puts out new growth. You're most likely okay to harvest it now but that is just a guess.

For years I brought down plants that had about 80% or so of the hairs turned. But after some enlightenment, I found that you can actually dial in the type of buzz that plant gives if you simply watch the color of the trichome heads. You need a pocket microscope for that, but if you want to know, you need one.

Otherwise, if the buds are still producing foxtailing calyx', and new white hairs, then it is still producing. However, thc that was produced earlier can indeed be transformed into a sleepier type medication with time and ripening.
So it boils down to preference in all instances, but especially in judging without knowing what the actual tric heads look like. If you do NOT want a couchlock stone effect, then harvest sooner rather than later. If you like pot that stones you and makes you drool, wait a week longer than you think you should. (shrug)

Change up medium, light, temps, etc...and that can all change. It's a matter of dialing it in. First times are always a crap shoot no matter what. All you can do is get guidelines by the breeders reports and the reports of others grows. And realize that your particular pheno may mature and ripen differently than anything else reported on.

That pretty much sums it up

I will add that there are two other options besides the pocket microscope. For those that are steady and don't have big fingers those pocket microscopes are great. For others they're near impossible to use. A good cheap easy to use option is a 30x jewelers loupe such as the one advertised here http://www.ppgift.com/30x_loupes.htm. The other one, which is my favorite, is a decent 4MP or higher, digital camara capable of taking macroshots. My Nikon is a 4MP camera that does macros and I can see the color of the triches much easier on my 24" LCD monitor then in a little tiny loupe or pocket microscope. The down side of course is I have to wait until I dowload the dicture from my camera to do so.

I have an additional cord with my camera that I can attach right to my tv at the component inputs, no need for download.

Indi, generators are sold by the wattage they put out (or can safely handle).
4 x 1000hps = >4000watt generator

Same difference for me since I don't have a tv in the growroom. I didn't mean it was a big problem, just that you can't get the results quite as instantly as with a loupe or pocket microscope.

Is there a formula to see what size generator I would need for a lot of 1,000 watt HPS?

What hoosierdaddy said is correct, there's no formular per se just figure out the total wattage by adding together how many watts are needed and then get a generator that handles that many. I'm not sure what "a lot of 1,000 watt HPS" actually translates to, but if more then 2 or so 1000W lights you're talking a commercial type deal that probably makes a lot of noise and costs a ton of money.

Also you'll want to pay attention to how things are rated often times they aren't rated at full load. Like how long the fuel will last, that's often rated at half load.

HI had a few buds get a little mold = trashed= smell lingers in the rest = any suggestions other than trash or oil etc.

Well if the affected buds are out and the smell is truely just lingering I certainly wouldn't throw them away. Alas I don't really have any good new suggestions. I've heard people say they've cut out the mold and then do a water cure but I also heard the result isn't all that great. Personally I'd go with the oil option if it were me.

Good lord

The largest unit you could pick up at home depot is 45K watts continuous power.
$16,600
That unit would run 45-1000 watters no problem.

You should consider running three phase lights, and learn how to like bologna and stewed tomatoes real well.

Previously posted this in another thread:

Old trick for mold:
Put some grain alcohol in a spray bottle (yep, good ol' Everclear!!). Spray the moldy stuff and let it dry. Mold and moldy taste/smell gone w/ it. It'll even work if the mold has turned white.

389 Damn that's a huge setup if you get it up and running. Also Hempkat, i was LSTin two days ago and accidentally snapped the main cola(inside only) cause my light's penetration was falling off too much. My question is that do you think that the plant will recover okay? I tied it to a piece of bamboo so its not crushing it anymore or putting pressure on the creased part. Thanks
