what are the implications of this? what is the new definition?

The original proposed language for section 2-A-iii) read:

“SIGNIFICANT RESPONSIBILITY FOR MANAGING THE WELL-BEING OF A PATIENT” MEANS ASSISTING A PATIENT WITH DAILY ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO TRANSPORTATION, HOUSEKEEPING, MEAL PREPARATION, AND SHOPPING, AND MAKING ANY NECESSARY ARRANGEMENT FOR ACCESS TO MEDICAL CARE AND/OR SERVICES.
but the board amended the language to read:

“SIGNIFICANT RESPONSIBILITY FOR MANAGING THE WELL-BEING OF A PATIENT” MEANS ASSISTING A PATIENT WITH DAILY ACTIVITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO TRANSPORTATION OR HOUSEKEEPING OR MEAL PREPARATION OR SHOPPING OR MAKING ANY NECESSARY ARRANGEMENT FOR ACCESS TO MEDICAL CARE AND/OR SERVICES INCLUDING THE PROVISION OF MEDICAL MARIJUANA
and adopted it. The implication is that someone who solely provides cannabis to patients is formally defined as legitimate primary caregiver.

Yeah, all told it was a very good day for MMJ in colorado. The above wording was borrowed from the Corry proposal and was a better outcome for that portion than anyone really expected. The only thing that can really be considered a negative is the notary requirements, and at least imo it was the mildest of the possible negatives.

and on a totally random note, wtf torando warning for downtown denver with the air raid sirens going off? 2nd in a month. crazy season

Voting is over, the notary portions both passed 9-0, however as noted the 5 patient limit was voted down, and the caregiver definition was favorably amended and passed. Homeward bound.

I was there to hear all the CDHPE board debate the proposed amendment and make some necessary changes, as Rob Cory proposed earlier.
I'm kind of disappointed to hear they passed the notary portions! What's the deal with that? Is a notary now required? Before I chime in on that I need to know what the deal is.....off to local news sites to see who says what........

*EDIT* F'N HATE THEM TORNADO SIRENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! siren is 2 blocks away damn loud

Yeah, the application, renewal, and change of address or primary caregiver forms all will be required to be notarized now. The changes will go into effect starting august 30th according to the board president.

Up to the minute weather report is: damn, kind of looks like a hurricane out there right now

The notary thing really doesnt bother me, just makes the legitimate people even more legitimate and make it a little harder for bad apples to fuck with our little slice of freedom we've maintained here.

We were there all morning and part of the afternoon. It is indeed a GREAT DAY here in Colorado. It was almost comical to hear the 10 or so people who spoke in favor of the states rule changes. Talk about the mis-informed minority.
Warren Edson really sealed the morning when he spoke to the exemption as provided in the Constitution, as well as the Affirmative defense that is ALSO in the Amendment. In essence the board of health only has say over the exemption (the card & Registry), but has absolutely no power to regulate the affirmative defense. In other words it would have been business as usual as allowed by the affirmative defense.

A GREAT fDAY or MMJ in COLORADO!

A great day for medical patients in Colorado! Thanks to all involved!

On another note. Was watching channel 9 news around 5 last night for info on the meeting. The street reporter, Chris Vanderveen, made a comment that dispensaries are just "semi-legal drug dealers."

I have sent an email to KUSA stating my displeasure with his choice of words. I thought some of you might do the same. Shame on KUSA!

this is awesome news...a big shout out to all the people who showed up and shared there voice! just shows that what we the people do and say really does matter!

Not to be a pessimist... but if there's another such meeting there are a few people who should consider staying at home. You can't deny there was a part of the audience that discredited the medical community a bit. Thanks assholes.

Hehe, you must be high. I think you mean to say "you can't deny there was a part of the audience, that didn't discredit the medical community a bit." Either that, or I'm too high to understand... :D

Kinda like the kid who was talking about this test scores: Thats not stuff you share with people who aren't in the culture! It makes us all look bad. I mean, fuck, when I tested I was told I was in the top 0.1% in the country, and I was high as fuck when I took the test. :) Thats not something I share with just ANYONE though! It's impressive to a smoker, a non-smoker takes it in a whole different way though... Just like Milehigh said, THANKS ASSHOLES! :D

I'm assuming he meant a 780 on his math portion, not his combined score. Either way, health department doesn't want to hear that you took a standardized test intoxicated. Although it does make a point. But that's an argument I used in speech class for a pro-MJ speech in sophomore year of high school. We're playing on a higher ground here.

i was on the conference call most of yesterday... and would have to agree with your statements. Some of the commentary should have been left out. On the other hand alot of commentary was pretty moving I thought. Overall a good showing and a good win for MMJ IMHO

Yeah. What was with that guy in the balcony right above the stage. He couldn't keep his mouth shut for a bit. Kept bitchin' to someone on the stage 'cause they were text messaging or something...

Congratulations one and all.

It was a great showing and a great turnout.

It was also an excellent example of how our government works for us when one cares to get involved...thank you all!!!

Take care, everyone,

MHM, I'm not so confident in that. I would hope so. But seriously, it felt like a high school debate up there the last hour! Government should not be conducted on a stage either. Yea, it was late in the day and all, but it's not like they did a whole lot.

I agree, some discredited, or disrespected our medicinal cause. The cheering was 99% uncalled for. Some stories simply did not fit into the context.

Hell I should have spoke up! I would have asked them to consider focusing on improving the model we've set for standardization in term of health, quality, pricing, fairness, waste products, agriculture, alternative fuel sources. To embrace ALL the advantages that come with Cannabis, not just the healing qualities of the buds. I think if we get lawmakers to think in terms of the plants FULL POTENTIAL, versus immediate economic potential, we could further accelerate our cause.

But for now I am happy happy happy to be living in the GREAT STATE OF COLORADO! woot woot:woohoo:
