I suffered with social anxiety since from about 7th grade starting taking an ssri effexor at 16 and it really has helped me tremendously along with the herb. Now at 20 I hardly feel any social anxiety at all and I have benefited from the herb and ssri's it works differently for different people.

So are you a Ranger or a wanna be? Not that you can't be 20 and not be a Ranger, just not much of one and sure as heck not someone who got depressed for being retired on 9-11. You were what? 12?

Take vitamins, most depression is from not being fed well. They say benzos make people act out, for more but that is why they give you a huge sack of shit to eat everyday. I have heard that benzos can make someone who is borderline do things they regret. For me, that is all I will take and if they try to force a needle in me with anything else.......I'm gonna kill! It might not be that day, it might not be a week later.......but man, I'm gonna wann kill!

Basically if they want to calm me down, give me something to smile about:wallbash:

I'm sorry to say Burmese I hardly ever understand anything you say. I have two more years of school and then I'll be embarking on my military career.

Difference between anti depresants and recreational drugs? well first off anti depresants have some of the worst withdrawls around and are harder to kick then heroin and nicotine, they also fuck your brain chemistry. Sounds like fun!

Unless you have taken them yourself i think this hardly qualifies as evidence. I will say that coming off of Ant-Depressants is not a nice experience and needs to be done very slowly and is definitely not a quick process. Coming off of them pales by comparison to being put on them since you are likely to have some serious but not permanent side-effects. Side-effects include nausea, shortness of breath, dizziness, disorientation, sleeplessness ect...

I took anti-depressants for a few years thinking that they were helping and at the time i thought they did. It is only after stopping them, which took quite some courage and was a really anxious experience, that after all that they really did not do all that much for me. I took nearly every single pharma out there in hopes of "bouncing out" of what i felt was a hole and in the end i am fine.

Granted this may not be the right solution for everybody but i am seriously starting to doubt doctors claims after having experienced taking these drugs myself. The one that did the most for me was Wellbutrin and my doctor prescribed it for its side-effects and not for its intended use as a last resort measure that worked. Wellbutrin is prescribed, in most cases, as part of a smoking cessation program and helps with depression on the side.

As far as anti-depressants being harder to quit than heroin or tobacco i challenge you to see which one you quit first and i bet it is not the heroin or nicotine that you claim it to be.

*EDIT... I do NOT doubt that it foogles with your brain chemistry and messes with your head though

Smoking while on wellbutrin made me physically ill. The taste of tobacco is revolting to begin with but that just made it worse. Needless to say i am still smoking but defo off of the crazy pills now and sticking to more natural solutions as mother nature intended.

People that think anti-depressents are bunk really dont know what they're talking about. All you "brave" people who basically are saying "get a grip" may find themselves short-circuited one day haha.I hope they "tough it out too!"

I find a good balance with the weed & my meds. It only took 12 years to find something that wouldnt kill me with side effects/ or make me totally insane.... Some things work for some ppl dude. while others dont...

KK, does the welbutrin work good for you? They just tripled my dose of lithium and -- well, it's better than the shit they had me on before. ;)

It's when lives are saved that you really see the importance of an SSRI.

Unfortunately the exact mechanism of how and why they work are not completely understood. Current understanding is that the increased serotonin downregulates postsynaptic receptors, modulating activity in such a way.

No need to alter everyone's brain chemistry. Some people find relief, unfortunately for them.

If only there is a drug that can be produced cheap, works well in low doses, and does not have any detrimental side effects. Maybe cannabis is the closest drug to that description.

I was in a really bad funk.. depressed horribly back in december.. and it lasted till february. they put me on wellbutrin and within 3 days I felt relief... Im on 200 mg right now per day... It works very well, however I get pretty agitated after I havent smoked any weed... So I think in combination the weed/medication works really well.
I couldnt say that about alcohol... alcohol makes me nuts lol

Proper nutrition+attitude change>antidepressants. Ever since i've eaten raw food and changed my attitude around i've never been depressed and my social anxiety ceases to exist. you can either pick the pills the doctor gives you which will probally fuck you even more down the line or use what mother nature gave ya :)

Usually with a strait antidepressant it takes at LEAST a week to get enough of it into your system to even feel an affect for better or worse.

Cannabis is the same way. Make pills and take them like anti-depressants.
Keep the dosage low and take them regularly. Within 2-3 weeks you should know full well if that strain is correct for you or not.

If you're not clear headed with energy and motivation, you're on the wrong strain. :noway:

Wasn't sure if I wanted to join this conversation or not... (I have a lot of personal experience in this area)... I could give a week-long dissertation and still not run out of stuff to relate.

One thing that bugs me is when people talk about these things and don't even know the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist (invariably they use the wrong one)

I suffer from major depression, severe anxiety. ADHD, and suffered brain damage in a head-on collision. I lost my ability to talk and communicate coherently for a few years until I got diagnosed and treated by a psychiatrist. I take 3 different medications now, but very small amounts of each and about 6 different natural remedies (it's about balance, not more is better when dealing with psychiatric drugs). I truly feel that I would not be here now if not for the medications... my physical brain was just not functioning correctly on it's own anymore (especially after my accident)

... one thing that changed from all my experiences is my belief in the concept of mind over matter. I don't buy it anymore, now I believe that the "Mind" is an abstract concept that refers to our perception of the physical working process of our brains. If you autopsy a body you'll find a brain... you won't be able to locate the mind.

stopping anti-depressents normally leads to "brain zaps" for a few weeks. Its like a giant surge of your neurons and you tweak for a split second. It happens without warning. It is truly like being electrocuted. You grimace as your body tenses like you're being shocked

i take paxil for social anxiety and it is a miracle drug. pot works great, but paxil takes care of the anxiety part very well, much better then pot. the only side effect i have is it takes forever to "nut". girls like it, but forget jacking off, it will take hours.... :wallbash:
