Before building another cab I would suggest looking into a darkroom tent.
I love mine. Very easy to setup and all the ports and everything are pre made.
I did learn so much about heat/ventilation that it was worth the experience. I'm a tent guy now though.

+1 for MEDS' point. Everything ICMaggers are doing in cabs can be done in tents. The GrowLab seems to be the premier line now (I liked Secret Jardin but I don't see them anymore on BGHydro - maybe discontinued?).

Advantages for tents are cleaner setups, less labor, and possibly even cost depending on how complicated your cab gets. Perhaps most advantageous is the ability to quickly remove a tent and store it in a small space - a problem we all run in to when trying to disassemble, move, and/or store traditional cabinets.

Initially I wanted to build a stealth cab, but since the room the grow cab is in is locked 24/7 the idea of a tent seems like a great idea. Let me think about for a second.

ok I'm sold:woohoo: tent it is!

I Googled and think I found the right size for me. The GrowLab 80 - 2'7" x 2'7" x 5'11"

I can still use my 150 W HPS until I can afford a 400 W using a Lumatek ballast.

Thanks guys, can`t see the forest for the trees

Question on growth

Question on growth

What effect will the initial stretching have on the growth of the plant?:1help:

I just watered my seedlings for the first time using a 12 TBSP measuring cup. I watered each pot 3 x ( 3 x 12TBSP = 36TBSP = 18 Oz @ 2TBS= 1 Oz)until a tinkle of water appeared on the saucer.

I hope I'm doing this right. Don't want to over water.

THANK YOU and question

THANK YOU and question

very nice seems like a solid designe i veg with cfls love em

if your interested heres some hints and tips i learned on overgrow and through experince for usen cfls to get the most from them
http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=29899&page=2&highlight=100+watt+cfl+lowryder

Originally I was going to veg with CFLs and even built a bar light made from wood pieces and sockets. But after buying the HPS I put it aside.

I when to Home Depot and bought a three socket bar light a week ago with the intention of starting my seedlings. After building my shelf I also put bar aside.

Now I thinking of starting three Mdanzig BlueRyder Autos on the lower shelf under CFLs. I am hesitant because I do not know how tall these Lowryder#2 and BlueRyder grow. :1help:

From your experience can you tell me how tall they get?

Yellowing of first true leaves

Yellowing of first true leaves

The first true leaves of my seedlings have a little yellowing along the edges towards the center from where they erupted.

Is this a cause for concern?:1help:

Unfortunately, my camera's macro can't get that close.

Need help

Need help

:1help:

Any suggestions on what to do here.

I've watered with RO 6.5 pH H2o and rotate them on the shelf to average the light.

I need help on watering so I don't kill them. Noormally I put my finger in the pot about 2-3 inches and if dry I water in a circular motion in intervals of 12 TBSP @ a time until I see a tinkle of water appear in the saucer.

Thank you growMEDS

Thank you growMEDS

maybe you could add more soil - not sure

A suggestion, but the one I followed. I'm hopeful that this will work. The other alternatives to stake the seedling or fill up the pot with hydroton might have caused physical damage or waiting to see if they would grow up right. IDK.

I'm racking this grow as a learning experience in the hope that future grows are more streamlined and bountiful.

I was impatient in starting my germination before preparing the cab environment,i.e. not having the air conditioner in situ.

Now that I have the cab fully functional I started to germinate a BlueRyder that will be placed underneath the shelf of my cab under fluoros.

Here are pictures on the filled up pots and the lower half of my cab

I've also removed the hydroton from the surface of the pots and place them inside the saucer to absorb runoff.

Added BLUERYDER

Added BLUERYDER

Good news received my Northern Lights order from Gypsy with 5 free MAZAR-I-SHARIF
http://www.seedsman.com/en/cannabis-seeds/the-real-seed-company/12-seeds/mazar-i-sharif-12-seeds

The MIS are for me to distribute to my friends, unfortunately I do not know of any other growers. So, thank you GYPSY!

I've potted my BLUERYDER in a pint container (see reason below) and put her under fluoros.

Updated pictures before rotating the top shelf and individual pics of the LOWRYDER#2 and others.

6*6*7 is at least one-gallon and is bigger than ideal. You can do it, but you would be far better off starting in something smaller and doing another transplant. For example, 16oz cups (3 weeks)-->6in*6in*7in inch pot (2-weeks) --> 3-gallon (a few days and flower) or (2-weeks)-->4-5-gallon (1 week and flower) would be ideal and gets to to roughly the same final container size in roughly the same amount of time.

To understand why consider the way cannabis grows roots. Cannabis roots out and swirl around the sides and bottom of containers leaving a relatively the middle of the container relative uncolonized. This has a number of implications.

First, when you water your young cannabis plant there is going to be a lot of the medium that doesn't contain many roots so it is going to stay wet.

Second, it means that how long a plant has been in a container has a big impact on when you need to transplant, irrespective of the size of the container (within reason). If you start in one-gallon containers you are probably going to want to do a transplant in 1-month anyway.

Third, you can build root mass by allowing the roots to swirl around the sides and bottom of a container and transplanting frequently (every 2-weeks after the first transplant). What is then achieved in the final container are multiple concentric circles of roots and medium which is more or less completely colonized with roots. This wouldn't happen if you just threw a seed in a 3- to 5-gallon pot.

Vegging cannabis is as much about building root mass as it is about what you see above the soil.
