Well boys i got ran out of the swamp this morning. I was doing some trimming around the edges so they could get more morning sun. Something about 20 yards away growled at me. It was either a bear, lion, or a big male gator...haha whatever it was didnt chase me when i hauled ass so im guessing it was a gator..:fsu:
I hate having to take a pistol out there but id hate fighting off whatever the fck that was even worse i bet...:dueling:

darn man, to be honest i have been a little spooked to go back to this amazing spot i have been scouting for a while... i found a killer stream hidden deep within a pine forest, and when i got close to the water, something huge reacted to my presence and left real fast, felt the heavy body moving very swiftly away... i dunno what it was, there are only two big animals out here, pumas and bears, and both are in danger of extinction and are very very rarely ever seen... i looked around a bit and saw what could have been a crib/cave too. i had a machete with me, but it was wrapped in newspapers and tied with strings :dueling: i took it out and started hitting the ground with the wrapped machete and then got the heck out of there... phew... this was last week btw.

Well im tuckin my balls in and going back out unarmed tomorrow morning...just got some good rain. I keep thinking about last year in august. That spot was a foot deep in water at best...if i cant see em when its dry the wet season is gonna be pure hell!

ok so here is the update so far.

Left for a few days. Came back and about half of them where dead. Guess that little bit of rain we had didnt soak the dirt well enough. Since there is only 10 buckets out there right now i just used some of the babies still in cups to take the place of the dead ones. Been walking 2 5gallon gas cans full of water in to water them until the rains come. Sucks ass with cracked ribs but what are ya gonna do.

Go out this morning 2 buckets dug up by coons. Some rat traps in the TCs should keep that from going on much longer.

Ive learned alot and even if i dont get anything this summer im planning on moving out some 24+ inch females in August or whenever these are done...:dueling: This is going off one way or the other...

Nice attitude!

still2big, can you go on a boat of some type? sounds creepy. but most it is in the mind, a relaxed confident state of mind helps a lot. but you are kind of nuts anyway, i would never go in a swamp in florida... i crossed a fl canal swimming once, and that was enough.
good luck, much peace and light

Paz, swamps really are beautiful man. Seriously.

It is safe. If you see a gator give him his space is all. Nothing really else to get you.. well maybe the snakes
