Well i actually start mine inside for abit before they go out to get them past the slow seedling stage
my weather wont be ready for them to go out for another few weeks we still get some cold nights so i get them ready abit before then i do like you hade talked about before with following the light hours outside and have never hade them go into flower right away
also i find this really helps i have a short season so when they get out they just grow like monsters lol
this is the only way i get my 6 to 8 ft plants and helps them mature in time
Sounds like you're right on track, bpb! I'll be starting them mainly outside on the porch with the other houseplants. Automatic natural light...
I was planning on making room in the closet and getting them going in there, moving them in and out for more sunlight on nice days. After further consideration, I decided we just dont have the room for one, and it will be much simpler. Got a south facing porch with a roof, so they will get nice sunlight, but not the driving rain and hail!
Feels like the right thing to do. On my trip, the guy managing the house rentals had a couple seedlings going in his porch which was very similar to ours. They were in cups down in cinder block holes, and they looked like they loved it... Doesn't take much. They just need some love and warmth during this most vulnerable stage in their lives...
Got some seed planted last night! No soak, just planted directly.... Its just too much to do these extra steps if you were growing thousands and thousands of seeds, so why do it any differently when its just a couple small gardens?
