Hi guys,

I'm new on the forum and getting started on my first grow! :) I'm keeping things small scale for the moment, so will be growing in a server PC case using CFL.

I'm planning to grow only 1 or 2 plants at once, using SCROG technique.

Heres the bulb I'm thinking of getting:
http://www.aussieponics.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=23

Its a 100 Watt 2700K bulb. Is this enough light for what I have in mind?

Because its a small growbox, the veg time will be quite short. I'm thinking like 1 week, or might even go straight to 12/12 (need to read more about this). Does this mean I can get away with using the 2700k same bulb for veg?

Hey Resist, I am using 2700K and 3000K bulbs, both for Vegging and Flowering!!! Its rumor that a higher Kelvin bulb works better for vegging (4000k)+ but I have started from begining of having clone and am curretnly flowering with all the same bulbs!! U probably dont NEED to use different bulbs, but if u have one laying around the house with a higher spectrum, throwing it in the Case for the week of vegg u are planning on doing wouldnt hurt, but neither will leaving them 2700k spectrum throughout vegging!!! The Light u are looking at looks pretty good, BUT it doesnt say how many lumens, but thats OK!! Maybe u should get Some cheaper ones at Lowes or Home Depot ( 68 watters(equal to 300 watts) 2700k, having 4200 Lumens a Piece).....They are 15 dollars a piece...Maybe try one of those and a one SMALLer HIGHer spectrumn bulb for ur PC....I dont know much about PC grows but I think it would work!!! Its all in ur hands!!

143w of 2700k cfls. 'purple tops' bagseed in coco coir 2 liter bottles and solo cups
Don't forget to tape tinfoil over the switch on your power strip. That red light will definitely reduce the growth speed of any part of a plant it shines on.

(It didn't make any hermies in my cab but it definitely stunted the growth of the clone right next to it.)

that powerstrip is plugged into a timer that turns the whole powerstrip off, so the red lamp isnt on when the lamps aren't on. so far the plant in that corner is the biggest one, with the most buds, so i dont think its doing much.

Hey all, just got started with a modified rubbermaid (the no tubes version).

So far I'm just using 4 daylight 23w bulbs.

I know I can search, but does anyone have strong opinions on veg/flower?

I forgot to say bro, This is not my First time growing, I have also done 14 plants outdoor with my brother!!!! Why do think I was laughing, this is my fourth time growing, ha ha ha!!!

Now,im gonna get at you or anything and experience od growing is all good but the one problem with cfl grows is that the light produced from these bulbs is not good at getting through the canopy so those bottome parts WILL NOT swell up as much as you think.people are only trying to help you not get at you but as you say its your grow and your call but there is so much energy the plant is wasting with the lower parts of the plant left on and you will see the benefits no end if you remove some.why not try it on a couple of the plants and compare results with the ones you havnt.
Just my thoughts but good luck to you anyway.

I tried too. :) Hopefully he'll read this again in a few years.

For anyone that's doing LST or Supercropping with CFLs\: Strip all bud sites below the 3rd node as soon as the little buds have finished showing themselves.

I know it seems like you're not leaving anything at all but this will generally produce the maximum amount of high quality bud. It leaves very little popcorn below, just big fat nugs up top.

If you can clip out the newly forming buds below without damaging the leaf growing next to it, that's even better(More light absorbed, more bud).

Go back and cut those leaves out around day 30 to maximize air-flow and keep the humidity down.

(I wont)

These pics are not very bright cuz my batteries in my camera were low!!

P.S.. I know peeps arent trying to get at me!! I listen to what u all have said or say and just take what I want, just like everyone else!! No hard feelings, just a Debate!!

vertical or horizontal..lol,i'm talking about mounting twist cfl's..lets not get off topic:yoinks: lol,i did an rubbermaid grow..not in reveg mode, with the lights mounted horizontally,it worked well, just wanted to see what guys with more experience thought on the subject, the cab i wanna build is gonna be taller then a rubbermaid..so i'm reachin out for advice

How about Vertical, AND horizontal..... Put them every which way!! Someone on here said that a 45* angle is best......It all works!!! I have some Horizontal, Vertical and around 45 degrees!!! It all about preference and ur area u have!! How reflective!! Just do what u Do Puff!!

Im not sure but i seem to remember most lights come from the sides of cfl bulbs rather than the ends so i would go horizontal. However i may be wrong about that just remember reading it along time back.Best advice would be do a couple of runs and see what works best for you.you will find you will always be altering something in your set up as you never get it right from the off,if you do though you can come round and set mine up for me! lol

it actualy depends on the bulb. i have 55w cfls(one of the best lum to watt cfls) there more of a half softball than a cylinder shape so there better at a angle. but a basic 42w would be better horizontal. of course a reflector is more iportant than angle of the bulb so as long as you use a reflector the difference would be slim to non on horizontal or angled. vertical are u joking?(in some cases it can be good but rare)
