Update: I moved some stuff...

ezgo1 and Agent-Smith - thanks for the kind words and thanks for stopping by. enjoy the show!

I improved my height situation today. I built a new PVC stand to hold my flood tray two inches lower and i raised my light another 2 inches. So now it goes: 14 inches ground-to-plant; 26 inches plant's space; 8 inches reflector (48 vertical inches total) Now the plants have a healthy 6 inches to the glass and 8 inches to the bulb. I also rotated the entire tent 90 degrees for ease of electrical wiring.

I would like to say thank you to all of the people in the Infirmary that helped me out.

I began flushing the medium with RO water earlier today. The plants quickly perked up. Still only 3 leaves show signs of the nute burn, so luckily damage was minimal. Tomorrow I will resume feeding with new lower ppm solution. Hopefully all goes well!

End of Week 5 (12/12) pictures coming soon....

End of Week 5 (12/12 Flowering)

Here we are at the end of 35 days of flowering...

The fat White Widow is closest to the camera, skinny WW back right, Chem DD back left and back center (plant closest to the light in the back).

Lighting Change

Lighting Change

I was running out of vertical space so I ghetto-rigged the 400W CMH to the top of the tent with black/white poly. It was not contained in the tent so I replaced it with a New Wave T5 28 (8 x 2' T5s). I hope it will not have a negative effect on the plants to switch light sources this late in the game.

NEW SETUP compared light penetration of ORIGINAL SETUP

How do I make the images smaller? Thumbnails would be awesome. I remember when I had to erase ".thumb" from my posts back in the day to highlight particularly awesome photos. Now every image is huge, and for that I apologize to anyone who has slow internet connection.

It used to be thumbnails were natural and big images were tidious... Now it seems to be the other way around.

I'm probably missing something. Thank for pointing me in the right direction.

I can't help you with the thumbnails, but I can offer props. That's a nice rig bro. You're rockin' it hard. :headbange

I just finished up a grow with T5s and it turned out very nice. I doubt you'd notice any difference w/ the 400.

Hydro Height Solution

Hydro Height Solution

:jawdrop:Fantastic Thread! And Thanks for the Frosty Bud Porn! :canabis: I would just love to see a side by side Grow Journal between the Flouro's and the CMH. I have read that the CMH produces more Trich's because it has more UVb.

I have also been reading alot about Hempy Buckets and different variations of the Hempy. I've seen Journals with 4 ft plants grown in soda bottles. So I started in an 18 oz Hempy Cup, and later Bogged into a 1 Gallon Hempy Coffee Container. It is very simple, kinda like set it and forget it (for a few days). It would also free up 6 to 10 inches of Grow Space for you!

Reps to you! Hope you dont mind if I tag along for a while?

JamieShoes - thank you, sir

been - thanks for stopping by. i am excited to see how these T5s perform. they don't have the penetration of the HIDs, but i think my micro grow setup was an ideal, low-height cadidate for a T5 grow. i hoping for the best. in the future, i will probably use the T5s and the Homebox XS for mothers and clones only.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
dmoose - i've finished 4 runs from start to finish with various wattages of CMHs and the thing I've enjoyed the most from the switching over to CMHs is the FROST. compared to my results with HPS, I was getting frostier, trippier bud from CMHs. that's been my humble experience. in my present situation, the T5s were a natural choice for the limiting demands of my tiny space.

The hempy buckets seem like a good idea for low height alternatives. your plant looks very happy. however for me personally, I love the concept of moving water too much to stray away. with a background in engineering, i am really drawn to designing moving water systems. I'm thinking RDWC for the next round. But first I want to go through some new seeds to select a worthy mother.

anyways, welcome to my grow. feel free to tag along for awhile. the fun stuff is just around the corner. :joint:

Good Idea/Bad Idea?

Good Idea/Bad Idea?

It seems I can leave nothing to simply be. I always end up thinking of ways to tinker. Here's my latest change...

CHANGE: Added 150W HPS

PROS: more light, would improve development of lower buds, makes up for T5s lack of penetration

CONS: ambient temperatures increased from 72F to 76F degrees, bipolar light sources (is this a problem?)

Let me know what you think. Thoughts and Suggestions are appreciated.

cant see any problems adding your 150.more light is always good and your temps are well within range,in fact, probably better now.
looking good.:joint:
Maybe next round put your 150 on top and your flouros round the sides.

that 150w is pretty much wasted there, it should be up top, get it above somehow, or at least pointing on some bing cola's.

Better?

Better?

Seismic - thanks for checking out my thread. I made my way over to your grow and everything is looking on point. stellar work.

swampy_nz, smokeymacpot - great idea! as you suggested...

i can't ignore a good idea when I hear one. it took some thinking, but i was able to get the (150w HPS) and the (New Wave 28 T5s) both in there. :joint:

thanks to the input, and keep the good ideas coming. end of week 7 flowering is just around the corner and the flush will begin. that's all for now. take it easy

Just one more suggestion.Ditch the blue actinc bulbs in your unit. They put out fu@k all light and are good for nothing.I use them in my unit for my marine fish tank, they are used to bring out colors in certain corals and fish, just take em out and replace with white ones.
