Jack the Ripper was a real disappointment.
Grew out 2 packs. All germed and there
were a few bonus twin seedlings. Total of 24
starts. Got 18 females out of the 24 and they grew
out well. Not very smelly, odor control is easy for JTR.
Lots of frosty resin, just like the pics I've seen.
took em at 56 days. It was my first run with it.

The problem was lack of potency. All 18 females were weak.
Even the primest frostiest samples were all weak.
I knew JTR is a mutt that requires choosing of phenos but 18 duds was
ridiculous. I've got 1 pack left and I dont feel like germin them.
I wonder if 2 runs are needed to make an evaluation for the same plants
I made mothers for all 18 females for the next run but I'm not sure I want
to waste any more time on them.

EDIT: after 3 runs, I'd say there were 3 better ones and one out of that top three that stood out as #1. The rest were tossed.
Take it 70 days not 56. The #1 girl has a decent buzz and taste. Its more of a functional buzz, good for parties, but not trippy.
Its worthwhile overall, I'm keeping the top gal for awhile.

Sorry to hear about your luck man, 18 is an absurd #. I'd be beyond pissed. Maybe if you went a little longer tho? The big book of buds 3 says 56-63 days. That happenned to me with the jillybean(same harvest window) the first time I ran it. It was frosty as hell around day 56 and I think i should have let them go longer. I gave it another shot and took it to around 65days and it made quite a difference. Just a thought. peace

I had my sites on Ripper because good yields but also good smoke, so they say, but its honest posts like this that make me think twice.

As a newbie years ago I used to get hyped on breeders descriptions, ha! Then I started reading grow/smoke reports on OG and here and changed my mind about a few things like Stuporsonic, greenhouse Seeds & TH seeds

Starting to wonder if it isn't just better to do it yourself & find one out of many: finding a stellar male over time through trial & error and mate him to cuts eventually finding your own holy grail out of many beans that would be thousands and thousands of dollars if bought.

I guess cuts wouldnt even be so popular if the need wasnt so prevalent.

i was eyeballing the ripper too but when i told my girl the buzz was speedy, trippy, talkative, she said HELL NO!!!,,,,,,, glad i listened

I have a few bad one's sensi shiva because none germinated. Sensi indoor mix they must of put all there lousy strains in that pack because none were that great. Nirvana afgani none germinated nirvana nl's was lousy smoke as well as nirvana shiva sucked to. The best I grew was a seed I pulled out of a bag of kush from a so-cali clinic. And a seed the owner of a clinic gave me was fantastic. Rez ibl's seem odd being that there ibl's because all the plants were totally different I thought ibl's were supposed to be clones in seed form.

im currently growing new purple power 1 female so i cant really comment..but its not what i was expecting its shot to 6ft 5in tall in only a 1 gallon pot...looks like hemp at the minute on day 55 of flower only in very early flowering can see this taking 16 weeks to finish...ill wait and see...

I think so, we look for the " JTR" phenotype from AO. Its a whole different ball game with the right one. I have heard that complaint of TGA though it hasn't been my experiance.

hanfiking- that shit was the worst . Hermie heaven, low yield, no trichs which is crazy cause NL is suppose to be frosty as fuck . Maybe i should give it a second run ? Heeeeeeeeeeeeeell no. He has been working on his entries for some Canadian cup for three years now. www.hiddenjungle.com what a clown. That cup was in 2006 you fufa!!!!!! its now 2009 get out of your stupor idiot.

has any one ever had any problems with D.N.A. Genetics seeds because i was looking at some of their pure afghan seeds

Im going to end up on a hitman list, but here goes:
- Afghan #1, Sensi Seeds. Do these poeple intentionally breed 100% herms?
- Arjans Ultra Haze, 1, AND 2. Big fat 14 week leafy unpotent sativas.

For a prize Afghan strain from a used-to-be high class shop, and a strain named afters its owner, these must be my biggest dissapointments ever.

Sensi Hashplant - they didn't germ even though the other seeds I popped at the same time did.
Reeferman's Potent Purple - hermied, smelled and tasted bad, and not potent.

Love Mandala, but didnt like M1. Ive been around M1, Satori, W.Satin, and a handfull of Safari Mix girls. Most of them have that lemony estringent smell, with slight differences after a good cure. Satori being the most different.

been around Bamabata, Tiki. Good smoke, but never stretched so it didnt fit into the scheme, prepetual. We didnt have time to veg her to >12 inches to get a decent yeild from her. Too short, too little.
