I have 5 female plants that are 3 weeks old and a few of them are looking sicklyHere's what I have150w HPSEarth Juice Bloom and Micronutrients12h on 12h offBag SeedsUsing a fanMylarIn a closetThey are all different sizes, because they are bag seeds and probably different stains. I am not sure what to do! A few of the plants are turning yellow on the top, but one is really yellow. Please help!!!!

maryjanegirl - If I was a betting man, I'd wager dollars to doughnuts that your PH is way up there. That first picture looks like a classic case of Zinc deficiency, and the most common cause of it is a high PH which locks out the plants ability to uptake Zinc. That high PH can also lock out iron and manganese, so it needs to be addressed fairly quickly. JMHO PD

Top of the evenin to ya Rebo! I got those lights off craigslist, under "farm & garden." This dude had a contract to "re-light" a parking garage and got 25 175W MH and 60 150W HPS out of it for sale he's selling for 10 bucks a pop! I don't have a lot of cash, but bought 2 more today, really just for parts, at least for now. I got kind of sober when I found out that the capacitor in one of these babies runs 50 bucks, so figured I'd get me some spares. Plants are doin real hot. I'm gonna hold on to em, see what happens, but will be starting new seeds here soon. I'll figure this stuff out yet! JQ

Thanks rebo, The intake I have is about 14sqin, my exhaust on the very outside of the box is about 18, both in the form of a 1" strip using a baffle system to filter the light. That sounds like it should be enough for me for a 5.5 sq ft area, but correct me if I'm wrong. I think one problem I have is recycling air inside my closet, I'm going to try and seperate the exhaust from my intake a bit more and see how that works. The cab is a little loud, mostly from the larger cpu fan. I think I need to find some quieter ones somewhere.

I'm no expert (That's for sure) but it sounds like you may need more intake. If your exhaust mods don't help, maybe you should think about making another intake or expanding your existing one. I think the rule of thumb for intake vs exhaust is that the intake should be 1.5 times the size of your exhaust... maybe someone else in here with more knowledge can chime in and help you out. good luck with the cab.. it's looking good so far man.

Plants are too hot from 150w without proper ventilation your indoor grows can only so so much.

Sorry Rebo, what I meant to say is my plants are NOT doing real hot. I tried to go back in and edit my statement a number of times with no luck.

Here's some pics of where I am tonight. Really only one decent looking plant, and even that one ain't too hot. I bought a cheap ph meter too, tried it and got about 7.5, but I'm not sure it's working. Gonna try it in some vinegar, check it that way. Only cost me 8 bucks, so it goes.

I may switch the HPS out and try MH for a while, see if that does anything.

Can I get in on that bet, lol? High pH locked out zinc in one of my earlier grows. My plants looked like Acuba lol!

The 3rd pic also looks like it has a little heat stress and maybe even a spot of light/reflector burn. An even canopy makes it easier to get the light close w/o stress and or burn. I have a hard time keeping an even canopy with the same strain, let alone different ones. Spacers underneath the pots of the shorter plants will even things out a bit. An exhaust fan in combination with a circulation fan blowing on the hot spot will help get the light as close as 3 to 4 inches.

maryjanegirl, you're doing a fine job there. This is probably the trickiest part of your grow, getting all dialed in. Once these things are under control it's just a matter of haulin' in the harvest and chuckin' in more plants, a vicious (but much easier) cycle.

Ive been a lurker for a bit and in this time ive read alot of threads and learned the basics of growing. I came to a decision that 150w dwc is for me. This is my first try at hydroponics ever so there has been a bit of trial and error.

I started off with 10 bagseeds and by my own fault(had a fan on the highest setting directly hitting the seedlings)there is only 1 left but she looks mighty healthy. I also acquired 2 clones, a pure kush x Sour diesel(biggest of all the plants) and a bubba kush baby. The Bubba may have been stunted a bit due to heat but has bounced back. All are under 12/12 and flowering has begun, I see more and more flowers appearing and maturing everyday, so Excited. Any input would be greatly appreciated. This is my 1st grow and everythings going much better than expected. Hope everyone likes the pics so far.

On the other hand.. Nice score on those seeds.
My Auto AKxBB started showing what I think is a cal/mag deficiency.. so I've treated them for that and will be keeping a close eye on them to see if that was actually the problem or not..

Funny.. I was trimming a few lower leaves that were showing the deficiency, and decided to trim a tiny bud from the bottom of my LR2 to get a taste lol . well.. long story short.. I had a slight buzz and my eyes aren't the greatest to begin with ... I cut a bit too deep and ended up taking off a bit more than I intended to (argh!) oh well .. that's how it goes sometimes lol .. I'll post a smoke report once it's dried and been tasted.. sure smells good and is really sticky.. waiting with anticipation.

Heres the most current pics as of today.

Took some pics of the first couple of flowers and Im already eager to start picking them off to taste but I know with time the growth will be exponential so I must exercise patience. This is my first grow with moderate success so it all looks so lovely.

Last but not least just a taste of some root porn

Im currently running GH 3 part series with no additives, only the occasional epson salt and Hydrogen peroxide. I opted to go with whats on the bottle and I'll use the Lucas formula from start to finish on my next grow. I was doing the 3-2-1 to 1-2-3 but now im basically using 0-2-3. Anybody got any tips or recommendations during this stage of growth? So far everythings going great seems like its just a matter of time.

I think Lucas is 0-1-2. If you're running a 600 watt light or higher it's 8ml Micro and 16ml Bloom per gal. Smaller lights, 5ml Micro and 10ml bloom per gal.

Good luck using Lucas. All it got me were small plants in veg and major defs in flower. I went back to the chart cause it always fills up my box.
