Interesting TraneRek.. I think it would drop temperature a couple of degrees too.

I've been looking around for a way to cool my cab W/O a cool tube and with a high room ambient temperature.

Wonder what if you ran that Mini dehumidifier the same time as an Ultra Sonic fogger which pumps humidity in the air... would this drop temperatures still and keep the RH around 30% in a cab with enough ventilation. This could be a possible solution to what I'm told is impossible :]

Ya, like I said, I'm not sure at what rate the dehumidifier takes the moisture out of the air b/c it's not meant for high circulation areas, but it's still worth looking in to.

What do you all think is a good height for a cab if I'm gonna use a 150. I'm going to HD this weekend to get the materials but wanted some more input before I bought it all.

I was thinking 20w x 16d x 48h (12" for utility space).

That's 2.2222 sq.ft. and 8.8889 cu.ft.

Since I've got the Lasko Blower already I'm good on ventilation (overkill really). Also, I've heard that about 50W/sq.ft. is good, and I'm well over that.

Is there anything else vitally important I should consider before building the cab itself?

djbenzo, you'll also want the glass to be tempered. Although unlikely, regular glass can crack and shatter from high heat. But mainly I'd recommend tempered because, not only is it near impervious to high heat, it can take a lot of abuse. So if you accidentally drop it or something it's less likely to break.

anyone else notice the 150hps's have seemed to have disappeared from the e-conolight website? I found a few direct links to the specific lights, but they are now listed at $0 or $99999 saying "contact manufacturer" or something to that effect.

Just called and they said if its showing up like that, its no longer stocked

Anyone know of any other sources for these lights on the cheap?

edit: read back a few pages and it looks like others have noticed this too. SHIT.....just built a cab specifically for that damn thing too. Oh well, guess I'll give the cab to a friend and continue to use my 400.

They discontinued them about a month ago. E-conolight also has a$43 dollar model that's cheaper than anything else I know of. But personally I think it would be worth it to order the 150w from HGTsupply.com for only $70. It comes with a remote ballast and a reflector.

What is the max amout of plants I can grow with a 150 HPS light? I have a Sun System HPS 150 Grow Light Fixture w/ Bulb. I am growing in a closet that is 2' by 6' by 7' and the part of the closet I am using to grow is lined with mylar. I have 6 two week old plants.

maryjanegirl, 2 to 4 plants is average but more is doable. I did 9 in 2 liter soda bottles but it got a little crazy.

Haha. How big was the area you grew in? I've read that the max amount of space is 2' by 2'. Is my closet too big to grow in? How close should I have my 4 inch tall plants to my 150w hps light? I am so excited! This is my first grow and they are looking so cute!

Have to look around a little more.


maryjanegirl max # of plants depends on a lot of things, your going to have to provide a little more info for someone to help. I'm betting you are trying to figure out how large to veg the plants you have? The 6 plants you have, I'm guessing they are from seeds? If thats the case, you could end up with 6 females, or I hate to say, none. Its all up to chance. Your best choice, if your growing from seed, is to take a couple clones from each plant, and then flower the plants, kill the males and their clones. In future grows use the clones, this way you will know the number of plants you will be flowering, since they will all be female. Use this first flowering, which #'s are still unknown, as a learning experience. It will let you know how effective your 150 will be in your closet and how large of a canopy to grow. Cloneing sounds complicated, but its as simple as clipping off the right sized branch, triming it properly, dipping it in some hormone(available at lowes/home depot), and placing in the right environment. Do a little search and you will be able to find more info than you need.

Your closet wont be too big to grow in, but a small area helps reflecting/containing light around the plants. A small area also helps with circulation, since a small fan can turn over the air of a small room a lot faster than a full size closet. Heat and light coverage will determine how close you can get the bulb to the plants. If you have a fan blowing on the light to control the heat, you can literally have the bulb a couple inches off the plants, but then your light coverage for the other plants will probably not be too great. If you wind up keeping four, simply arrange them in a square under the light. But if you get three, what I would do is line them up and keep the one in the middle shorter and grow all three as close to the light as possible with a screen or something. I guess a picture is worth a thousand words:

The 150hps is so very easy to build because of it's small size and no need for a capacitor.
With a very simple box that can be found anywhere like Radioshack, or a mailbox for that matter, you can have a kit together in no time flat.

This site will give you all you need to get a 150 rockin the cab!
The ballast kit itself is like $27, and for another $25 or so you can have cord, socket, and bulb. Although the bulbs are add $10 and econolights still has bulbs for $5.75

They look really good so far and I am using all earth juice formulas, so I am excited to see how those do for the little babys. The area the plants are in is well covered with mylar and I have them all directly under the light, so I think they are getting enough. I am not over watering them and I talk to them sometimes too. Is there anything more I can do for them?

These plants are from bag seeds. I would like to buy seeds online, but I am very nervous to buy them over the internet, because I don't know any good websites and I read that it is illegal to buy them online. Is it easy for cops to find out if you buy them? I really want to get some good seeds online, but I am so nervous!! Any ideas?

What kind of letter do they send you? Is it easy to get caught?

MJgirl... If the seeds do get caught it is no big deal.

They just send you a letter saying they found marijuana seeds, yada yada.

As a precaution, some people would suggest you ship the seeds to a location other than your grow. That might give you a little more peace of mind.

also you might wana pay using a prepaid creditcard you can get at walmart or something so that your name isnt linked to it..
