As I said, it isn't about Phelps. :) But I'm not the kind of person that likes to give an inch when I don't think it's right to do so, especially to a company that takes people's money to make statements against marijuana.

Though I agree that he should be more careful if he plans on continuing smoking. But I doubt he gets the chance to smoke very often anyway.

shit he gets the chance to smoke everyday...and prolly does.

dont wanna give an inch dont give an inch to take.

i dont have any kellogs product in my house, so this doesnt hit close to home.

ill continue to ignore them as i do most of corpo america...if thats not good enuff then oh welll.

i mean if we really wanna get into this lets drag all the b-ball players and baseball players and nfl and steroids, and coke and shit into the ring...all were talking about is a swimmer and weed....let it slide.

A.) So long as the police are used to enforce marijuana laws everyone leaves something exposed.

B.) Why let it slide? It doesn't make any sense. Why tacitly agree with the people who say weed is such a bad thing?

If you want to let it slide, do so. But why try to convince everyone else to ignore it as well? Seriously, I don't understand the opposition here.

I dont think people are just born MJ activist... they become them. Give Phelps a chance ... who knows what turns his life will take. He may end up being a spokesman for us... just because hes not ready yet doesnt have anything to do with what the future might hold.

MICHAEL PHELPS IN GOOD COMPANY

Packaged goods giant Kellogg announced today that it would not renew its sponsorship contract with Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps as consequence of his being photographed smoking marijuana.

It's a strong statement by the company, particularly in historical context: According to an October 2002 Time/CNN poll, 47% of Americans have smoked marijuana.

And users and advocates of the plant reportedly* have included the following, several of whom are admired by Kellogg's customers:

Louisa May Alcott

Jennifer Aniston

Bing Crosby

Laura Bush

The Beatles

Mayor Michael Bloomberg

William F. Buckley, Jr.

Johnny Carson

President Bill Clinton

Johnny Depp

Harrison Ford

Bill Gates

President Andrew Jackson

President Thomas Jefferson

Steve Jobs

President John Kennedy

Stephen King

Ann Landers

President James Madison

Madonna

John Stuart Mill

President James Monroe

Mozart

Friedrich Nietzsche

Peggy Noonan

President Barack Obama

Sarah Palin

Governor George Pataki

Pablo Picasso

President Franklin Pierce

Brad Pitt

Oliver Sacks

Arnold Schwarzenegger

William Shakespeare

Barbra Streisand

George Soros

President Zachary Taylor

Queen Victoria

President George Washington

John Wayne

.and, according to an anonymous source, at least one other star athlete.

I sent mine - I'm boycotting motorola for similar reason. They hired ex DEA Karen Tandy, and I dropped their equipment.

I sent 'em an email. So what if Phelp's didn't become an activist for marijuana? We are activists for the plant so when a company makes a stand saying they won't support that kind of behavior we should make a stand saying we no longer support them. Simple as that.

I hope I get a reply, if so, I'll throw it up here.

Michael Phelps is supposed to be a role model for kids and Kellogs and every other company have every right to drop his sponsorship for not being within their moral code.

Wrong! Michael Phelps is supposed to be a swimmer, not a role model.

No parent wants their kid to be a toker and most kids (and myself) worship pro-athletes like Gods. He's not the great role model that Kellogs want representing their company and that is their right.

Why don't you try being a responsible parent and tell your children that what Phelps did was wrong and that athletes are humans and make mistakes. The man wins 14 gold medals AND you want him to be responsible for teaching a nation of kids morals and values on top of it? Phelps needs to be punished because you're too afraid to have a talk about drugs with your kids? ...... give me a break.
