What's new

Sweet Island Skunk, Island Sweet Skunk, Sweet Skunk

okay so here is my question:

Who are the originators of this strain or these strains?

Personally in my experience they all look and smell the same. Different pheno's maybe but the same basic shtuff.

SO is this, ISS that emery used to sell and was supposedly stolen from Breeder Steve and renamed..(old overgrow facts so don't ask me where i got them from)....or is this some variation on the work Sam the SKunkman is doing/done...?

PEACE

The original Sweet Skunk is from Spice of Life seeds (Breeder Steve)

Island Sweet Skunk is from Federation Seeds and I believe it is Sweet Skunk x White Widow.

I've tried quite a bit of both and prefer the sweet skunk, although the ISS is great too.

I don't know what sweet island skunk is though.

So where is it possible to get these genetics? Are they in seed form or clone only? I've been looking for the ISS myself, and honestly...this is the first time that i've heard of it being sweet skunk x white widow. I just always thought that ISS and sweet skunk were the same thing just different names. I've been smoking this consistently for about 2+ years, however i can't find any information about its genetics to get my own. Any and all info or help would be greatly appreciated.

i was looking at the iss or island sweet skunk too the one that is in bc that has the sativa high. wher can one get the best representation of the clone only version in seed form.

Island Sweet Skunk is more power Falvor, funk, Skunky in a bag and when you break it out it smell up the spot so sweet and with those skunky undertones that will turn heads, not lacking in potency at all...

i am gonna try to find some pics of her asap

She yields far better than any of the Skunks that i have grown, I haven't been growing for longer than 'bout 6-7 yrs maybe 8, and I grew her 'bout 2-3 years ago and lost her in a tray of clones I sols a year ago and I hope to get her back but who knows...

All I can say is DO NOT GO FOR THE "SWEET ISLAND SKUNK", THAT IS THE ONE THAT BC BUD DEP....., LAMES ADVERTIZE AND IT'S FAKE AND MOST OF ALL, THEY'LL JUST SEND YOU A PACK OF SEEDS, OF WHO KNOWS WHAT AND KEEP YOUR $$$$$, AND BY THE TIME YOU FIGURE OUT IT'S NOT THE RAL DEAL, YOU'RE FKED NO BCBUD, EVER!!!!!!!!!

Also, there is no Skunk in Sweet Skunk. So, nothing skunky about it.

The original SS cut is very lemony and goes about 12 weeks. Legends sells SS S1 seeds which would be the best representation of SS in seed form IMO. But they are too damn expensive.

To me ISS taste like mentholated tropical peach bubblegum with hints of earthy pine in the background.

I looked everywhere for my High Times article by Chimera who explains the genetic history of "Sweet Skunk" by Breeder Steve.

Steve was breeding in the early-mid 90's with Nl/Haze, Sensi's Big Skunk, and Sweet Pink Grapefruit (SPG) clone. At first Steve was sure he pollinated the SPG clone with a Big Skunk male and labeled it that way. When he tested this seed stock, he found one exquisit female he later labeled "The plant you have to grow" and gifted the clone to Ziggy at Federation Seeds who was breeding himself on Vancouver Island. This clone was named "Sweet Skunk" by Steve and the seed stock Federation made from her was named "Island Sweet Skunk". After Steve grew Sweet Skunk several times it became apparently obvious the male plant that pollinated the SPG clone was actually a Nl/Haze male and not a Big Skunk male. But the name Sweet Skunk stuck and will still turns heads of old smokers who know her well and most often as "ISS" which is almost taboo to mention in certain company in my part of town.

Not to start a pissing contest but have any of you tried the Shiva Skunk? Only buds I had were a powerful stone with real amazing flavor and great(I mean GREAT!) bag appeal.

Only in Amsterdam many years ago .. it tasted good from what I remember but nothing near as good as the real deal ISS or even the Kali Mist or SSH in A-Dam. ISS and hybrids are the only strains I've smoked that will make me sweat on my forehead. ISS x Romulan x Chemo hybrid was more potent than hash in Amsterdam.

There is a Shiva Shanti clone floating around my area but I'm not too impressed by her buds as I'm more of a cannasuer/medical kinda guy.

Like i said...i have been smoking (to my knowledge) ISS for a while and it is absolutely AMAZING...and i've tried a lot of different strains. The smell, high, taste of the sweet skunk is unexplainable...and now i want to have it consistently...in my garden. I'm just having a damned hard time finding the right/original genetics of this strain. I've looked into the blue satellite, but i want to score that ISS first and foremost!!

solarz, I know what you mean. True ISS is rarely matched in terms of smell, high, and flavor. Most people get a tropical fruit and Skunk smells and flavors from her, but specifics are very complex indeed. The high should be a warming(heat) one most often felt in your head. For being a mostly sativa she gives a strong overwhelming indica type effects mixed with sativa ones. Hybrids are amazing! Yeilds can be considerable when you get her dialed in and/or get a good phenotype.

Federation's version was more sativa: Light green leaf, stretches 3X+, wider internodes, quite branchy, longer flower time, lighter color hairs are distinctive orange/peach color, also more potent but heavy on the indica effects.

Next Generation's version was more indica: Dark green leaf, stretches normally less than 3X, relatively close internodes for a mostly sativa, more column growth less branchy, darker colored hairs, has a little more zip to the high and less overpowering effects as Federations did.

The best distinguishing characteristic of ISS is smell of her second hand smoke. I can smell her lovely scent from a mile away .. very few strains smell like this even remotely .. Mikado is the only thing that can come close to ISS in second hand smoke smell, but apparently they share the same mother and possibly more!

If anyone hasn't had the chance to smoke SPG or her siblings LUI, Sweet Tooth, Mikado, or ISS, then they have no idea what they're missing.......................Period!

Were not alone solarz, I have a dozen friends who can smell ISS just as well as any from miles and miles whether it be at a music festival, concert, skiing, or hiking in nature, etc.

I could sell a 1000 packs of seeds myself alone just on her reputation alone if that was my thing .. but it's not .. just a collector and conservator.

I'm sure Gypsy wouldn't appreaciate people posting where to get seeds from other than his store, so go to Seed Boutique and get either Chimera's Sweet Blue or Legend's Sweet Skunk feminized. There are others that have it in the UK and Canada, but I'm not going to post those vendors.

Chimera's is marketed as Sweetest Sativa. Gonna pop a few myself to see what the hype is all about. If Chimera says that it is a good representation of the clone, that's good enough for me.

The other option is you could try Mikado from Federation at Seed Boutique which is the same mother, but different father, which was said to be the same f4 father as Dynamite that I suspect being NL5 x Haze or a close relative. The psychoactivity spook and sharp nasel bite of the haze kinda gives Mikado's heritage away to any old experienced smokers, but Mik's second hand smoke is a definate ISS replica.

This is a amazing strain very speedy weed and blurred vision almost. Only got one bag once and i will always remeber it.

I've grown out a 'Sweet Blue Skunk' gifted from Red back in the OG days. Super stuff... had everyone in my circle screaming for more. I believe it was a joint project of BreederSteve and DJ Short.

It was definitely a fav of mine.

This was a couple three years ago and it was very pungent and skunky with super crystallization. Hard dense nugs covered in dark amber hairs. Real pretty and real good smoke. Havent seen it for a while. Supposedly/rumored to be the same gentics as Bullrider but dont quote me on that.
