What's new

another 10kw coco DTW

thought I'd post up some pics. Spacing is 9 plants per light, fed with 2gph flag drippers. Bato buckets, drain into the pvc pipe and drains outside to a garden. Cutting Edge Solutions for fertilizer, I use the micro&bloom at a 1-2 ratio. I use autogrow's intellidose and recently switched over from solenoids to perisatalic dosing pumps. I shouldn't have to mess with the reservoir until the grow is done. The only work is staking and pruning, but the majority of this grow will be hands off. I'm taking my clones for next round later this week & finishing up the staking.

This is the 4th run of this coco, I have just been taking a sheet-rock knife and cutting out the stem and just stick a new plant in. Clones are veg'd under t5's in 3x3 square pots.

Its looking P-I-M-P. LOL

Has is most coco sold? Is it just bags of loose coco? I have seen the coco blocks and thought that was how most coco was sold, but I guess not. Is it just loose and you pour it into the buckets like soil?

And you just leave all the old roots etc in the old coco and just stick in a new plant? I wonder how that would work in a recirculating system

The blocks are essentially the same thing as the bags, only difference is u have to add water to the blocks(and the bags somtime contain additives; worm castings, calmag, perlite etc.)

Lookin like a very nice grow so farm pimpjuice, can't wait till about 4-6 weeks from now :p

This is Royal Gold Coco, straight. It's washed & composted and ready to grow out of the bag. This stuff is about 11$ a 2 cu/ft bag at the hardware store. I think you would want to compost it for a bit before reusing in a recirculating system, it's totally reusuable. For large grows DTW is really low maintence.

you're my hero pj :D i was wondering....

do you add any enzymes?

what's a typical yield per plant?

Unfortunately, it's also really expensive. Additionally, a FOAF was popped after police obtained a warrant after examining the composition of a wet patch of soil outside his garage (his drain area) and noticing incredibly high NPK.

Not trying to be a hater. Love coco, love haze, you've got a great looking setup. Just trying to keep it safe.

Very nice OP, can you tell us about your lights and ventilation?

ohh..wow man...i love this idea...soo how many plants do you have in there.... 9x10? how much did it cost to set that up? is that a recirculating system? i think i may try this large scale with 15 to 20 lights... one other question...with the water at the bottom of each bucket..how does it not get stagnate or is there an airstone below?

Sorry but your friend was going to get popped, one way or another. The cops just didn't walk up his driveway for no reason, I will say I'm pretty amazed his lawyer didn't think taking soil samples without a warrant wasn't a violation of his rights. It's one thing to get in the trashcan but digging in the dirt, sounds fishy as fuck. I spend about 150$ per crop on fertilizer, it is far from expensive. What is 150-300 dollars out of 60k.

hoods are 8inch aircooled radiants. I'm on the PNW coast so no AC needed, I have 2 passive intakes and about 1900 cfm exhaust if needed. I use a phason speed controller for the fans. The fans speed up/slow down dependent on temperature, phasons are badass.

also, do u think 1 flag dripper per plant is going to be enough...? How do u go about flushing? by drippers, by hand, or just feed with pure water towards the last few weeks and let the plants consume the remaining elements..?

Also how do u slope the tubes to drain properly without messing up the positioning of each pot...?

No a/c for 10kw..!!!!!? Do u just run the lights at night when its cooler outside or somethin..? I have temps in the negatives for my intake to my rooms, and it keeps them at 70 when fans run 24/7. I cant imagine how ur room stays cool.

U say aircooled radiants, but are u actullly air cooling them...?

I've been running this setup for about 18months steady, no downtime, with no changes. One dripper totally works with the bato's. I flush through the drippers the last couple weeks.

Why bato buckets? I understand they have a little res at the bottom. But could you have done the same thing with 5 gallon buckets? Would the 5 be too big?

With DTW, the plants always get the same nutes right? Where as in a recirculating system, the same nutes get used over and over and by the time the res is changed, the nutes could be completely lopsided. Do you think thats why the DTW is so sussesful?

I live about a mile from the ocean, it never gets hot here. I have 2000cfm of exhaust, I use the phason temp speedcontrol to keep my room from getting too cold. I definitely do not have to fight the temperature inside or outside.
