So i finished my scrog trellis today as well as put the 3 fems i have into 5 gal buckets with 3gal of solution and air stones in each bucket I used tomato plant twine and some 4'x1"x1/2" with small nails looks like Itl work but this my 1st attempt at a scrog so let me know what you all think?

Looks like a great setup
I'm just curious, it looks like a non circulating system, right? how do you plan to change the res in each once they fill the screen?

This is a real real bitch because that happens to me now. Listen man just hook up another bucket to each bucket and connect it with a straight connector and some tubing. This way you just replace the water in the one bucket I'm in the process of doing this now. Great setup though and it will produce.

looks good man, just installed a screen of my own (mines a modified wire basket from the home de Pot) so it should be cool seeing how you progress compared to mine. i run a drip/dwc combo

A friend of mine, who is also a member here (flat5th) had the same problem while doing his first srcog. He came up with a unique way to solve this problem. I'll tell him to stop by and explain what he did.

Yessir.

Socialist hit me up and told me to come through here.

Here's what i came up with to solve my scrog problems in a 5 Gal DWC:

From my photo album:

Mobile ScrOG:
A contraption i dreamed up to make ScrOG easier in my room. The screen is attached to the netpot so I can lift the pot, plant and screen without disturbing the plant at all. This is my first run with it, growin' a nice white rhino. So far, so good.

SumDumGuy: i love your trimming and training method! i stripped that rhino down just like you! i was inspired.

yup yup,im actually going to add a 18gal res to circulate the solution via submergable pump thatl flood the buckets then exit thru a leveler drainage in each bucket back into the res,you guys think the screen is too high? oh also can anyone explain the proper training technics?

Space between screen and pot is arbitrary. Technically, you need no space at all. You can place the screen directly on top of the pots which may be the way to go here. Because you've no space between screen and wall, getting to the back while underneath, and keeping that area free of undergrowth, could be tricky.

yeah im not quite sure what to do on the under growth but i guess I'll just cross that bridge when it gets here, but as far as trimming and training???what to do?

well guys I went to lower the screen and it fell apart so i had to re weave the damn thing and screw it together i think it looks better and i hope these random strains yield me decent numbers

Power outages will stop the air, diaphragms tear, motors burn out. This doesn't guarantee a siphon will occur but, it is a possibility. Beyond that, anything electrical should be above the waterline anyway.

Trimming and training are a bit like riding a bike or having sex. There's really only one way to figure it out. As a general rule Indicas fill 1/2 the screen in veg and then flip to 12/12 to fill the other half. Sativas flip to 12/12 first then fill the screen.

Thankyou flat5th
And Thankyou for inspiring me with your creativity in producing such an AWESOME screen - Fucking FANTASTIC. Yeah man I strip them bitches down and you'll soo see how mature they become. Every time you strip you expose more light giving those lower limbs a chance to grow out for clone collection or super-budding - OR BOTH. They start to stink sooner too. I started flowering today but my gals been stinking up the room for weeks now. I had to order a scrubber because of it.

Hi green_thumb,
Nice to have you excited about that setup. I'll be doing backflips with that little space you have ;-)

Ok as FreezerBoy stated about the pump siphoning. Yes sir! As you're pump pushes air in - there's a momentary "pull effect" or rather pressure trying to equalize the push "air coming in". This is why a pump shoots air in pieces and not one long continuous stream. aka mechanical. If you push a cart up a hill - gravitational pressure will work on forcing it back down. And if that pump fails at some point before the air-pulse makes it all the way to the bubbler than pressures will take over and equalize it for you. Except you won't like the way it ends up ;-) Water everywhere.

I leave mine on the floor too but because of this I use check-valves. Go to the pet store and they cost under one dollar each. uni-directional meaning only works in one direction. Air in - no water out. Now you know! Get this or raise your pump off the ground.

Trimming / Thinning / Pruning / FIMing / Topping / Training / Crushing - there's a bit bro. I can get into serious detail on this but I'm running this quick okay. Let me know if you want to know of something in detail. I don't employ FIMing anymore because crushing/pinching serves the same purpose for me without loss of plant tips. Pinch any growing tip and the undergrowth reaches up to the height of the starting tip causing an even canopy resembling an umbrella. Thinning - in the veg growth process each individual growing tip has "1" corresponding fan leaf to provide nurturing and once that growing tip has developed its own set of leaves with at least 1" of new stem growth - that fan leaf can be removed as it served it's purpose. This is what you do to get hundreds of branches and it allows max light to penetrate during the most part of veg. Training - When SIDE branches reach out as far as the main top (keep pinching every new growing tip on main branch for this) pull them down 90 degrees with ties. This will cause the branches to thicken and shoot growing tops straight UP. It'll be a beast. Trimming - I normally start trimming back branches that won't produce at the very end and start taking clones "<--New practice for me as I used to throw them out in the trash"

Everything I've stated - I have tried and applied to the best of my abilities. There are growers here who leave me out to be road-kill in reference to experience and skill. This is just advice from one novice to another. It works for me.

right on sumdumguy!!Iv read a lot of your post and learned a lot along the way also I respect every body's interest to give helping info as I do It all the time about various subjects, and i also thank all who have helped me with all your awesome knowledge of the greatest plant alive!!! CANNABIS...i love it and its my new passion to grow and consume but any way i set the pumps on the scrog screen til i go check out those check valves, and Iv topped all the very tops and on one a topped the bottom limbs and all the lower nodes are loving it and going crazy there's like 11 new branches growing on ONE bottom limb, I'll keep updating this thread of my grow til the sweeeeeeet end and my PH has never gone under 5.5 and never over 6 all my buckets are the exact same ph bout 5.65 they look to be doing very well i mixed my nutes pretty strong i think in the front two plants 0-1-2 but 1TB of micro 2TB of bloom for 3 gallons of water and the 1-1-1 in the back one 1tsp of each per gallon 4 gal total what you guys think? I was thinking if it was way too strong it would have shown signs by now on the two front ones i'll post pics in a min
