Told you so!

They(CNBC) just made it a black and white issue of being illegal federally. Didn't really focus on legit medical uses. The Cali "bud pharmacies" are a carnival type joke.

Overall, I'm happy with what they showed. Our govt can continue throwing fuel on a campfire, or they will eventually learn how to get a handle on the financial aspects of the cannabis trade. It's a fact it's NOT going away, and it would be a total and complete waste of taxpayer dollars amounting in the BILLIONS to continue waging a 'war' that cannot be won, now or EVER.

The family that decided to move because the house next door burnt as a result of allegedly growing is absolutely ridiculous. If they're so afraid of what their kids may be 'exposed' to, they better get them out of school and start home schooling. They'll likely learn far more about cannabis in school. Obviously IF the neighbor's house caught fire as a direct result of growing, it's likely they were doing much of the electrical wiring themselves, which if you don't have a fundamental knowledge of the principles of electricity, fires are the result. I personally think the family moving is a bit ridiculous, especially to do it over cannabis. C'mon...

I think it really showed what kind of money is actually made in the cannabis industry. In the begining of the show, the goatee'd fella showing the huge outdoor plants stated that 20 2 lb yielding plants would bring in $100,000. Yahhhhh.... as IF.... lol The minimum end sale will bring in at least $100/quater oz, with 64 quarters in a lb, do the math. $6400 per pound times 40 lbs = $256,000 I also have a feeling they were likely underestimating the total dried yield per pound. I'm also sure that in the dispensaries it'll be sold by the gram, fetching likely $20/gram or MORE. $20-$25 per gram x approx 500 grams per pound= over $12,000 per pound sold by the gram. No wonder the Blue Sky shop pays $600,000 each year in fed tax.
Legalized the prices will come down naturally, but the money being made now is crazy! I just don't see why our politicians don't jump on that money wagon. Maybe in the near future they'll see the green and work a little harder at changing laws.

Overall I'm pretty pleased with the 'Marijuana Inc' show.

:D

SPM .. yep. It was all about "show me the money."

The scale of economy will sway folks that watch this money channel in our direction.

I'm still amazed though when you think about the numbers when it comes to alcohol and tobacco related deaths, and all the whining from the anti-cannabis people. Amazing where this country's morals lie. Cannabis is factually far less damaging on society. It far more helpful than ciggies. I guess in this country it's more about the money generated than the deaths caused. I think this report from CNBC shows just how much money cannabis could possibly pump into each states economies.

The one grow op they showed was touted as harvesting 4 times a year. ??? The right strain with the right grow room manager could easily harvest 6 times a year on a perpetual system running clones from mothers.

I too got a giggle from the chopper pilots comment... lol :D

Why keep wasting money on a battle that you'll never EVER win???

C'mon people! Get with the PROGRAM!

Nationwide we're looking a BILLIONS each year generated by cannabis. Likely HUNDREDS of billions! If that's not enough motivation I don't know WHAT is.

SWAY SWAY SWAY!! :D

Tru dat, PB.

Didn't I just hear Benjamin screaming 'LEGALIZE'???

I could have SWORN I just heard it... :D

Ben has a way of speaking politicianese.

I think the biggest problem is education. Why would someone not interested in the sacred herb care to educate themselves about it when it is much easier to just be against it. Look at some of the commercials they have had against it and how incredilby false they are. I wish it were easier to help educate the masses. In AK we have had a law since the 70's that says it is legal to have up to four plants or four ounces in your home. This law has not been repealed. It is a state law obviously. Yet we just two years ago had a petition go around to legalize it for medical use even though the old law still stands. We got enough signatures to get it put on the ballot and it was still voted down. AK is a heavy republican stronghold so I am not surprised but I have to really question the logic behind a vote against the legalization of mary jane. Then it goes right back to education. The former governer made a very large stink about tying marijuana in with meth and making the penalties for possession the same. Now I know there is a major difference but the general public most likely does not. It is sad that we have to be persecuted for what we do and waste so much of our tax dollars fighting a war we will never win because of the lack of education on the subject. Obamas secretary of commerce is apparently pro mary jane so who knows what we will see in the next four years. I know if I was in there and looking at the massive shit pile of an economy we are facing I would be looking to cut funding for something. They sure could save allot by stopping this damn war on drugs and make it legal. Then tax it to bring in additional revenue. Seems like a win win to me. They will probably cut healthcare and education programs though. Keep the people dumb and sick and it is easier for them to impose their will.

It will be on in an hour for me. I forgot to add in my previous post that we need to put a better face on the problem. I have zero problem with long haired, bearded tie die shirt wearing people because they are some of the best people I know. However at least up here whenever someone is on the news talking about it they are not the type of people that non smokers would take serious. That does not help our cause when as soon as they see someone talking about it they immediatly write them off and stop listening because they look and sound like a "hippy". I have had longish hair and a beard but most of the time I am clean shaven and my hair is cut allot like a military cut. I have to present myself well for my job. That is the other problem. More prominent members of society that want it legalized and would help put a better face on the fight do not fight or are afraid to fight in fear of what will happen to them if they lose and what people would think about them. We need a massive educational movement in this country for marijuana and it needs to be led by someone other than cheech or chong.
