Germination of Seeds by the Moon Phase

I have kind of a "stupid" question to ask and I don't mean to stray from the topic at hand, but I would really appropriate if anyone could throw me a bone!
I have some seed starters that look like what Treetops has. The man at the hydro store said they are not jiffy pellets and the packaging has no information on it. I believe he said they are neoprene and that they can even be cleaned off and reused.
So my question is do I leave my plants on the starting cube for it's entire life? ...Or do I pull them out of the cubes and transplant into my soil medium? My seedlings are ~2 inches tall with 2 inch wide starter leaves and the stems seem to have much less strength than I saw with when they where just in soil to being with.

Wow Treetops, that root shot made my jaw drop in surprise! You just can't beat Cancer and 3rd quarter planting.....

i have an Cannabis Culture mag and they did a piece on the who lunar gar dening. It has a lot info on it and it seems pretty logical that if you have a full moon all the gravity from the moon would pull the energy from the bottom of the plant to the top. The earth isnt perfectly round like most people thing from this moon gravity. If the moon is on the opposite end of the earth its going to pull all the energy to the bottom of the plants stimulating the root zone. I harvested a beatiful plant under the harvest moon in october last year. Gardening used to be grown strictly by the lunar and solar cycles. Tell the mayans it doesnt make a difference.

Flipped my girls to dark while the Moon is in Libra tonite. This is their first darkness in their whole lives. Hope the Libra for beautiful/abundant flowering gives em a good start. They were wanting to bud real bad as they had female preflowers all over the place. Now I'm just gonna have to wait with a rolling paper in my hand.....

Did the same to me...cant say enough about this germination routine...Next full moon I'm startin some more, just to see if I get the same results...

Sorry, no link. I use the Llewellyn's Moon Sign Book. They use the tropical zodiac. I have been using them for about 25 years and have had Super Good Results.
I don't mind looking up dates for anybody interested, and will try and point out some interesting dates as time goes by. That way you don't have to spend the $9 also...haha... we'll get our money's worth!
A lot of people complain they don't like waiting for a few days, etc., to get started, but I am CHEAP and want my expensive beans to have EVERY chance! The best signs/phase of the moon for our hobby seems to be Cancer/3rd quarter like Treetops used. The roots go wild! That is what I want anyway when vegging. You will get tired of transplanting to bigger pots though! haha
Could just be coincidence, but got 8 girls from 8 beans by planting with the moon....I guess I just picked out the lucky ones when planting! I know they are genetically predetermined at birth, I guess. I am no expert breeder.
I am an expert smoker though.......LOL

You are welcome TreeTops! The next time the moon will be in the same phase/sign as you used before (cancer, 3rd quarter) will be in March.....
However there is a good day on Valentine's Day when the Moon will be in 3rd quarter and sign will be in Scorpio....That is almost as good.
Exact specifics are 2/14 at 9:50 AM EST Moon enters Scorpio and stays there until Monday the 16th of Feb at 7:53 PM EST. Moon is in 3rd quarter for rooting during this period, which is important.
Note: Try and avoid planting at or near the exact time of day listed, as this is when the Moon is transitioning to or from another sign. Wait a couple of hours, or just use say 2/15/09, as in the above example.
Don't forget all times are Eastern Standard Time, and you have to adjust to your specific time zones.....if you get really close to Moon phases times. Gotta give the Moon a chance to get to your time zone!

I have also used the moon as a guide for a loong time. I have found that I simply cannot fit things in if I use the total zodiac aspect. I have also found that it doesn't make a dramatic difference at all.
I simplify my growing to the phases only.
There have been many studies done, and many of them more than just anecdotal info. I am fairly certain Tulane U did a fairly extensive study at one time or another, and some German work was done decades ago that is considered credible.
Thing is...many will use the moon phases for plants that are other than what they actually have. For MJ we should be considering plants that produce above ground, give seeds OUTSIDE of the fruit. Best to consider MJ as a flower, rather than a plant.
And as such, the ideal time to cast seeds is just at the NEW moon, and into the initial waxing.
Now, it has been pretty well established that seeds, most all seeds, will germinate at a much better rate than any other time during the FULL moon, when the gravitational pull is greatest. This is thought to be due to the gravitational pull on the water, and the effect that has on the seed itself. BUT...this is NOT the best time to cast the seeds for the optimum betterment of the flower. Casting by the full moon puts the growing plant into the waning phase, which is NOT desirable for any above ground plant.
Do your casting early in the first waxing phase, and transplant during the last of the waxing (just before full moon), or into the waning period.
Prune and harvest during the waning phase (between full moon and new moon).
I think that you will find most charts will agree with this.

Now I'm confused:smile:....I'll have to take everything you said into consideration, as I've only just touched on this...so I've a lot to learn...and to read as well....I'm always trying something new, this surprised me the most of everything I've tried so far relative to growing...though thought about in the past never tried till now...glad I did...

My personal rule, is to germinate seeds during the start of a NEW moon. (dark of the moon)...and to flower 28 days later.
My other rule is to maintain 80-85 degrees soil/air temp. I germinate directly in the soil.

Glad to see ya...Thanks for droppin in...Sounds like its good if it works for you...I have started lots of seeds as I said earlier, but never had this kind of success and vigor...maybe its because its my own seeds from the DG pollen, but I dont think so...You know what you are doing..I'm gettin there, but still learning...

Just an interesting tidbit.....ever hear of companion planting? Some plants do better planted near each other is the theory.
Hemp likes to be planted with: Potatoes, beans, corn, peas, cabbage, cucumbers, eggplant and catnip.
Might help a little with outdoor growing especially. Oh, and it's hindered by planting near raspberries, pumpkins, tomatoes, and sunflowers.
Just thought it interesting......

Yes, I have...I will be trying that this year on the deck..Have had great luck with tomatoes and peppers...Love it...to be able to just go to the deck and pick off a fresh tomato that you have grown...I do try and hide a plant out there....amongst the flowers and veggies...

...Out of 14 seeds that I started, they all popped but 3...1 HS and 2 Blue Cone Cedar trees..thats not bad at all...

Thanks for the harvest times.. I'm chopping my Hawaiian Snow, and will takes her place with the other ladies..the Sour Girls...which are doing quite nicely I might add...so maybe its a good time for that as well...new leaves are everywhere...Lovin the buzz of the SG...

Yes, that day 12/21, Moon was in a fertile sign of Scorpio, 2nd best sign to do any kind of planting in. Since the seeds were started in the 4th quarter (traditionally a time to kill weeds or harvest), this will make em tough as nails and hard as the devil to kill..! This Sign/Phase will be a good combo for plants headed outside, for example, or plants you want to be super hardy. I'd probably use this combo if I planned on re-veg... would be perfect
The Moon Sign is important, and Moon Phase or Quarter will affect what happens as well...
If one plants, transplants, flowers and harvests in favorable signs/quarters for each particular trait wanted, that's a thoroughbred plant.
For example Libra controls flowering, and beauty of flowers...So I flip em when Moon is in Libra, etc.
If trichs aren't the way you want, then I would ignore harvest signs, but it usually works out if planted correctly in first place.
Say I want good rooters & I have seeds, I'll wait for Cancer Sign/3rd quarter to plant.. Or Scorpio/3rd quarter... You get lots of options for different things.
