Cool thread,
I am also doing a deepchunk cross, the mother was the{ Deep Chunk x Strawberrycough} clone from Blue Sky.The dad is my {Train Wreck x Black Afghan jet fuel kush}a.k.a."Midnight Train" Both parents were amazing resin producing plants but complete opposites of each other. The dcsc has heavy resin on the edges of its leaves, but the midnight train has a high concentration of trichs towards the center of leaves.I am hoping they fill in each others blank spots and all the pegs fall in the right holes. Both parents were so sticky I decided to call the offspring hybrid "KRAZY GLEW" Not krazyglue if you were thinking it was a typo.Eventually I will post pics.I got these beans out to a few guys so maybe they will post also.I am going to keep following this thread to see all the other new dc crosses.

Beautiful pics everyone, Wow.

I hear it a bunch, Dc is slow, lacks vigor from inbreeding depression etc, etc, you guys know what I'm talking about I am sure.
Mind if I offer a differing observation? Maybe it's not slow at all, hehe. A single DC petiole weighs like what, 10 times what one from the plant you're comparing it to does? A single DC leaf weighs like what? The stalk weighs like what? see where I am heading with all of this? What exactly are your definitions of vigor, because DC seems to be multiplying cells at rates right along side the best of them. Grow DC next to X (what you think is vigorous) for one month then carefully wash off the roots and compare the weights between the two plants, many of you might be surprised me thinks. It just happens that it's growing in all the wrong places is all (except when it comes to cranking out the resin and that's almost all we want from her), and breeding quite easily overcomes all of this. Going beyond the f1 is wise in most cases because a good portion of these leaf/petiole/stalk traits are past to the f1 quite readily, this too is normal when working with a line that breeds true for these traits. In other words, maybe DC doesn't dominate either, but behaves quite predictably. What other true breeding super fat-leaved indica are you guys comparing DC to when you say DC dominates more than anything in a cross. Compared to?

i concur, i always maintained the DC made more root then leaf material, just never really thought about the size of the leaf it produces as vigor.

excellent point.

Get Mo,

That DC X SC really is a beautiful plant man. Isn't the Strawberry Cough pretty stretchy and narrow, or at least have some of that in recent ancestry? That would be good enough probably. I would self the plant, and then maybe give better odds of seeing that frost again. I would get about a thousand seeds from the selfing going in 3-4 inch pots lit by a single 1000w or so, hung high. At about 3 weeks from wet seed, before transplanting, I'd cull about 800 of them, only the plants with the narrowest/smallest leaves, the shortest/skinniest petioles, and the narrowest stems etc would remain. This move would sway the odds greatly in favor of a plant more acceptable for indoor cultivation. Out of those, there'd probably be some much better yielders that finished in an acceptable amount of time etc. Smoke that you dug, a more commercial variety, hopefully just spanked with resin like that beauty you've been showing around- but much better :D

Yeah, good point CBF. That's why I am remaking the cross. I have a big Bubba full of DC almost ready. We'll see how she tests in others gardens this time. The cross was just too good to pass by. Regardless of the few nanners that showed up. Last cross was with the Katsu bubba. Mine is with Swerves Pre 98. I've seen a few katsu crosses herm, but never a Pre 98. We'll see how she flys.

good luck with that one, have grown a few bubba outcrosses, and all were darn good.
