You have some of everything I love; good people, nature pics, fishing, smoked foods and of course, herbal smokeage. I live in far Northern California and the fishing is pretty good. I love to cold smoke some salmon or steelhead trout, heck everything tastes better smoked. That smoked lamb sounds amazing. Have you tried that Norwegian rotten shark I've seen on tv? You've got to be a real man to eat that stuff.

I have 3 beautiful Copper River sockeye salmon that I will cold smoke in a few weeks. Our friends from Alaska sent us 8 fillets and some moose jerky. Man I love the ocean!

mymain man you are so right hahaha. how i can get lost in stuff omg, i am such a dreamer. i just go alittle winter emo, stay too much inside hehe. dude i am just about to go downstairs and cut both rooms down. its alittle too soon, battery on the camera is all out after newyears eve i took loads of pics. its snowing like hell here atm, we got 50cm< of powder in 2 days.

Rafe: mate coldsmoking is awesome, we have long traditions for it here, as you saw from the pics. the trick is all in the salt/sugar lake' you marinade the fish in before the smoking tho. and make sure the fish is properly dry and that you used enough salt or it will become raw. if you need any tips just shoot love to hear you are doing this stuff tho.

Deft: get a warm smoker its easier, a cold smoker its a much bigger contraption. large pipe which cools the smoke.. like 15 feet or so. or i can teach you how to make graved laks another delicassy easy to make recipy.

headfortrinity: thanks alot for stopping by, the lamb was so goooooood i cant describe it. you are right smoking fish and meat is an artform im really into it. yes i have tried that rotten shark, its more of an icelandic thing tho hehehe. that shit is some nasty shit i couldnt describe the smell of it. we have some sick dishes around here, you wouldnt believe the stuff the old folks here eat. eyes, tongues you name it, its all good lol. we have something called raked trout, its when you toss the trout in a barrel and leave it to rotten for a year or two, then eat it lol. puts the shark to shame let me tell you.

I will probably get an electric one at home-de-pot, they are a good resource but I try to give my business to small agricultural shops because they sell things that the big lot stores just will not sell. They are like $40-$70, but I could always buy a hot plate and a trash can and make one!

Thanks for the tips. The natives in Alaska taught me the way they do it and then I made my own brine to soak. I use the salt/brown sugar/and peppercorns for mine. The day we make it we will probably eat it in one day! One summer in Alaska I was taking my fish from the house out to my smoking tent which was a tree frame with clear plastic like the Indians do. There were so many bees I actually gave the fish to the bees!! There are usually a few after the brown sugar but this was friggin scary!! My wife thought it was funny and it was but shit it was like the movie the birds but bees. I like to do meat too.

hey guys, more fishing after, but first i promiced bud's n such.

they came down today. DOOOWN! ohyess. t'was too soon, i should have flushed more, and there could have been more amber. also ph problems and temperature problems in an early critical phase, around week 3 it was worst, so this girl has more love to give. i've been slacking in the holidaze also.

nr1 reason for why they came down is i am running low on the green. also the room needs a do-over. third i wanna check the temperature in the city, dont want no heat, some signals have come that we might get more lenient drug laws. which is good, but i dont know what that means it could mean shit is about to hit the fan, alot of people in the drug business. we have russian mob and HA, u name it operating in the city.

not that I ever were in any biz, its stricktly a medical personal grow, but i have friends/peeps buzzing around me as i managed to make a point of in a weak moment during christmas so i need to check the temp on the people in the city. there's always some crazy shit going on in there that could potentionally affect me some way. especially with leeches around. i got a trustworthy crew tho, its a small place far from the rest of the world so its a tight-nit society. but sharks moving in because of the money around nowadays, us local boys need to be careful. im a good hardworking guy tho, generally i dont suspect i have any enemies, im hardly a target for any potential crack downs but u never know.. crazy shit happends here, i couldnt tell you. but also good guys, myman the growgear supplier, a friend of mine also turns out a distant relative hahahaha. go figure, small place .. he came through with the large can-filter. which is awesome. good prices aswell. his site:

deft, gravlaks is easy as hell, marinade in 40 proof + alcohol with herbs of choice. leave 3 days in the refrigerator presto! well not quite so easy to make it good but thats the bottomline. good on you btw for supporting local stores i do that aswell, local butcheries and fishermen and such. products are 10 times better anyway usually so often worth the price imo.

rafe, ah i know those tent when i think about it. the local nomadic same people here, they herd the raindeer/caribou, they use tents like that to smoke meat and fish. i havent tried that way tho, we usually dig a trench in a steep hill, about 10-15 feet, and cover with large rocks and moss. small hole at the bottom and a box at the top, like seen in the pics earlier in the thread. ill upload more pics of it if you wanna see how its made.

tylerdurden, yea myman the fishing is something you wouldnt believe until you saw it my friend. i swear this is no fishing story, the coalfish come in so large schools into the fjords that it literally looks like the entire fjord is boiling because they are jumping all over. you can actually fish with a net on a rod then its sick. huuge atlantic cod and small whales follow the coalfish into the fjords. wintertime the fish hang at the continental shelf on the outside of the islands, only the brave and foolish go out there in the winter but thats when the big ones bite and thats when the fish has best quality. quite an experience let me tell you, the north sea in january. gimme a day or 2 ill show pics, u'll know what i mean. mountain, and river fishing is just as good as the ocean fishing except from a few places where the tourists hang.

LEO = Law enforcement official aka the cops. I'm guessing you don't have all that much to worry about there though since you were talking about posting a pic of your house lol. Are they layed back? Do the cops there care about grows?

Fishing here is hard, you've got to know the area very well and know where other people don't ever go to get big trout etc. If there is a road or path within sight of a spot its always crap unless its spring and the season just started, you have to bushwack a bit to get to the good holes where fish have time to grow.

The ocean is different, some days you get more than you can keep by far and other days its absolutely nothing (helps to bring a joint or 3 for those days lol). The bluefish and bass in the sea here can make the water boil when they chase bait fish in fall/spring when they are hungry and on the move.

oh yeah thats what i thought, nah i dont worry too much i live outside of the city and i dont operate any business. i have some bees buzzing around tho, that can be a hazard on its own.

dont think the cops are quite at the level where tehy are working IR cams and such around here. anyway the exhaust from my rooms comes out from under a large outdoor wood platform which makes it impossible to detect. also the entire operation is underground so nothing to make it visible. third thing is i think the local cops are pleased with the things are going hereabouts nowadays because there is less smuggeling and mob-crime now when many have started growing locally. they are mostly after the gangsters, and im not one of them. we are just a small tight-nit click of childhood friends who have smoked together since we were kids and we have some growtalent around, much more knowledgable then me.

Guns are a part of the American rural culture, they're not going anywhere anytime soon. I used to be startled when I saw a revolver hanging out of the pocket of a dude but not anymore. I figure most people are good and honest most of the time, so the more people with guns the less chance there is of someone going nuts and not being stopped immediately. Happens often here, some nut gets a gun (going to happen either way here, there are guns everywhere) and kills a cop, passerby shoots the nut dead and is not even charged with homicide.

Wayyy more people die from cars, alcohol, burger king, cigarettes etc than guns anyways, guns are just scary to people who did not grow up with them.

At least thats my opinion, and I have never owned a gun of my own but have family who lets me shoot theirs etc.

i spent a year in the army, most of it i spent polishing an old US made AG3. everyone around here has a shotgun for hunting aswell. you see the germans made a huge mess up here in ww2, they burned everything for over a thousand kilometers. only 1 church was left standing. the warstories from around here are just .. i dont know what to say, too much i guess. lets just say we have some living memory of weapon use.

dont see the need for automatic assault rifles and handguns tho. you dont need a gun inside a house for protection anyway, thats close combat.

sport weapons im good with that, precision is a must when handeling such a thing. i see the point, but imo it has come to an obcession over there, too much focus. could be time to tighten the rules abit. i could be persuaded its none of my biz aswell hehe, but im oppinionated, i try to be respectful and objective.

usa.. united states, very international, always a hot-cake. i have huge respect because i know that even if i lived in a little poor midwester town outside of chicago for a year dont mean i was born there or understand it.
