Heres a couple shots of the pieces i have at the moment. Im expecting a .DE RooR custom and cant wait i spoke to the guy and he told me the same, that US RooR doesnt use borosilicate glass and also the US diffusers arent quite the same as the german hand pierced ones.
I ordered a 5mm dealers cup with a ziggy section, ziggy mouthpiece , flame polished logo, millifiori, ziggy diffuser, with a rasta crown bowl.I cant wait to stare at it.

Jeez, all this misinformation. Again, both US and German roor use the EXACT same borosilicate. ALL glass pipes are boro, but roor uses a specific brand...I believe Schott. US roor doesn't use chinese glass.

Whoever told you that roor US doesn't use boro obviously not only has no knowledge of roor, but no knowledge of glass in general. Roor, Illadelph, Toro, and the guy down the street doing tubes on a lathe in his basement ALL use borosilicate.


Don't know why there would be the difference in weight, unless there was a difference in thickness. Roor Germany supposedly oversees all US tubes and they must meet the same standards, so the beaker bottoms shouldn't vary that much in width.

Nice glass fyah. Though I would feel uneasy about getting that DE off a guy who doesn't know what he's talking about.

Okay - not trying to bust balls on this but look at what you said. You stated their is chinese glass on the market then jumped into the assumption everyone uses boro. Boro is badass and, in my opinion, should be the industry standard for glass pieces - but sadly most shops carry glass that would be considered by some to be substandard (ie - chinese glass, shitty joints, thin glass (say a 2mm bottom when its "supposed" to be a 5m), etc...) because its cheap to buy and easy to sell at a substantial profit.


just an observation and trying to make some clarity to anyone that's looking in this thread for info before a big purchase, not trying to start any bullshit chicalyx =)

Not exactly sure what you're tryin to say...but even cheap, shitty chinese glass is boro. I know what you're saying about the crap chinese glass on the market...draggy percs and janky crooked joints, but it's all boro.

I was just addressing the misinformation being spread that US and DE roor use different types of glass.

Even if RooR US uses the same exact glass they obviously dont have the same workmanship standards and it shows in the final product in my opinion.

I'm sorry I asked about the weight question, I seem to have caused a Roor war, I just wanted to satisfy my curiousity. I think both companies have different strong points and to argue about which is better is pointless IMO. I really like the worked sections that the US do. If I wanted a clear tube I would choose German. Instead of trying to prove which company is better lets just celebrate the great bongs that both companies make.

Chi you are crazy man if u think all glass is boro! once again to all dont let chi mislead u on your info. roor usa does not use the same glass that the german compnay uses and no they do not use a different type of boro either! they use normal glass like all the glass blowers in america use! thats a well known fact in the glass world and theirs no other way around it! RooR de is the top of line everything and most usa roor owners cant agree with that cause the simple fact that they own a usa instead of a german! And this information is coming from one the Lady in the ROOR SHOP in adam that knows more then any other worker their and 2 a owner of a head shop out in buffalo here who also is a GLASS BLOWER so their goes chi whole thing on all glass is boro cause he doesnt use boro cause he cant afford it to make 45 dollor pipes! so yes adamammnesia my first post back to u is the proper info and thats why they were different in weights! so their it is and to all u guys dont let chi mis lead u on glass cause after reading his post saying all glass is boro shows he knows squat about glass!and chi i have nothign against u i just am lost on were u come up with your info.

I enjoy attempting to educate people who have been misinformed , but this is my third and last attempt at trying to give you the real deal roor head. Not here to debate us v de, just going to provide some facts that you can accept or not.

All glass pipes and tubes are made out of borosilicate. Borosilicate was originally used for making labware that had to withstand rapid changes in temperature. Some brands of the borosilicate that were used for making labware are today used by tube companies, as they are of very high quaity, though exclusively clear. One of the highest quality brands of clear borosilicate is Schott Duran, which is used by BOTH Roor US and Roor De...I'm sure along with a few other companies that I'm unaware of. Companies such as Northstar make the colored borosilicate that's used in colored sections of tubes and for heady pieces. There are also several brands of shitty Chinese boro. But it's all boro. And roor on both sides of the ocean happens to use the exact same brand.

And I'm not arguing that DE does not put out more consistently perfect tubes than US.

A very small amount of research would go a long way in correcting the misconceptions.

Yea man go check out Headin to Hertal it on the same street terrapin is! it basicly took over all the glass sells in the buffalo area! youll like it alot they even have jason lees their thats how much youll like it toros the nine yards they got 1500 dollor pieaces all the way down to 5 dollor pieaces! check it out and let me know what u think!
