Unsure...

I decided to make this a comment report.

At the moment I am still getting used to the functions of this forum. Unfortunately I need some time for the pics. I have uploaded a few in my gallery. Today or tomorrow I will go to my g-spot and take new pics. In accordance to the pics I will put in some description.

Just one question. I read that one needs a certain amount of posts to put url's in their post. How many?

Ok, kind of figured out how to do it.

The Purple Haze Seeds from Sensi Seeds sprouted on the 22nd of June. 6/10 made it out, the rest stayed. These are feminized seeds. I am keeping these in the RainForest from GHE as mother plants. Unfortunately, as I cut some cuttings, the nutrition pump was left off for 48hrs. This happened because after I corrected the EC and PH I simply forgot about turning it back on. The cuttings died.

On the 27th of June I got some cuttings from another grower. Unfortunately I have no infos about what strain it might be. I just know that it's female. These cuttings have rooted in and around 10 days, and soon they were put in the AeroFlo28. Here in the XXL HomeBox (1,2m x 2,4m x 2m) they were left at 24 hrs of light for 2 weeks or so.

On the first of August 12/12 light was introduced to the plants. 4 days later a second 400W lamp was installed. The plants also got a positioned in a fairly spread out state to use as much space as possible (AF28 is only 1,6m long and 0,7m wide). I keep the nutrition at 1,7 all the time and the PH between 5,8 and 6,3. The temperature has never passed 24°C yet. 24°C was on one of our warmest days. The Hygrometer is constantly at 60%, a bit to high for my liking. To keep the climate at a good level, I put in a ventilator that turns left and right 90°. This also keeps a steady amount of oxygen available to those skinny leaves.

What I have noticed is, that from using the HPS lamp, the plants are stretching. In the mothers room (1mx1mx2m) the plants have blue light and grow totally bushy. Not sure if I can do anything about this, because my budget has no reserves for problems like these. All in all, I am expecting to get around 600-800gs out of this grow.

Here is the first system I wish to write about.

The BioFilter:
http://www.icmag.com/gallery/data/2/36100P7217918.JPG

The water from the reservoir is sucked in by the pump, runs through a filter and goes back into the reservoir by a little waterfall. Behind the filter are little stars made out of some mineral stuff I think. These stars have tiny water vents where really small particles can move through freely. I don't exactly know what size or type of particles... Now comes the cool part. After letting the BioFilter run for 24hrs, I put in 10gs of BioMagix. Mico organisms that go to live and populate in the stars by feeding from these particles. Then the organisms drop off into the little waterfall and look for new places to live. The roots of the plants are their final destination. They go onto the roots and protect them from disease and fungi. What the water reaches unwanted temperatures over 24°C, this can be very helpfull. An infection would ruin all the plants on the AF (AeroFlo). At €70 it is worth it to me. And that's what the BioFilter is all about.

What the new pics arrive, I will explain more about my setup and how the systems work. Questions and comments are welcome.

Update: 27. August, 2008 (27 days budding)

The last few weeks the hairs really started to come out. I think I am going to have plenty for harvest-time.

I have added an adjust-a-wings reflector with a 400W SON-T Plus. We now have 1200W budding.

I have also started presenting them mother plants in the RainForest to 12/12 hour light. I don't really have space in the RainForest for my future plans, so the mothers' got to go.

We actually have 1600W budding including the mother room. They have had 12/12 since the 15th this month.

Now to ->nutrients&roots<-:

The roots in the rainforest are pure and white and seem like they got a lot of weight and mass. They are nicly juiced up in this RF-System.

The Aeroflo is really starting to show it's growing character now. The buds are quite far ahead for 21 days of 12/12. The plants grow really fast, unfortunately too tall at times.

end of ->nutrients&roots<-

As you can see I put up some fencing as in the Screen of Green method. I want to ensure the the 1200W are used efficiently. Same with the mothers 400W.

If you have any questions to my setup, technics or whatever just ask. I don't have much time to invest in updates. I am alrleady quite busy with keeping the system working.

Update: 7. Seotember, 2008:

Lo dudes,

everything is on it's way. Budding is ON, I'm high on satisfaction and I found some time to update this report.

The lights:
After adding my newly purchased Adjust-A-Wings I noticed that it is a seriously effective reflector. You can't see it that much on the pics, but the two lamps to the left and to the right seem give the plants half the amount of light as the AAW does. They are Phillips SGRs I think. They're old and outdated. After this grow I will set all my lighting budget on adjustawings, they're amazing. You can really adjust them and they come with a lighting plan, of how to best position them to get maximum efficiency. They claims that from two 1k bulbs, you can get 4kgs (8 pounds). But only if everything else is working good. (vents, nutrition, reflecting walls, etc.) Very pleased with these wings things. :)

The AeroFlo28:
I have not had any problems with the systems yet. The roots are all white and look healthy and fresh. I also noticed the seriously thick stems that are coming. Good for big buds. The pump is not making and noise and the water is at about 20°C. The growth rate isn't that amazing atm, as I messed up with the Ph and Ec a little. Ph was at 5.2 at times and Ec between 1.7 and 2.0. Ph is now at 5.8 and Ec at 1.5. They hanging leaves are a sign of carelessness.

The Plants:
white hairs all over, stems getting thicker, big root masses and loads of THC coming out of the calyx, leaves and small branches. Unfortunately the leaves are hanging atm and the growth of calyx has halted a bit. This is because of problems with the nutrition ph and ec. The room with the purple haze (1 x 400W) is getting on great. Loads of leaves, very bushy and good ph and ec all the time. Root mass is truly massive! Maybe get some pics of that next update.

Ventilation/Climate:
The ventilation is not enough. Maximum temperatures are allways 25°C+ which is over my 24°C target. At night a minimum of 15°C is fine. The three lamps seem to let the temps get a little high, but I really want the bigger buds in the end.

Smell of Plants:
I put the finger on the bud, close my eyes and smell/taste it. Very nice!

The RainForest:
it cost me 250 euros, the AF28 cost 400. personally I think the RainForest is better. It's easier to handle, the way it sprays the roots is far better and you can grow the plants grom clone to harvest easily. In future I might use the RainForest rather than AeroFlos. AeroFlos are probably more usefull on bigger surfaces. With the AF120 you have one reservoir for 6 square meters. Whatever you want, whatever you like, whatever you need...

Update: 3. Oktober, 2008

Why are the leaves curling this way? I uses aeroponics.

General Hydroponics 3-way nutrients
dry Ph-Down powder keeping it at Ph at 5,8
Ec around 1.2 to 1.9
humidity 50-75%
temps 12 to 21°C

much more pics in my pic list. Updaloded around 50. Got any questions? go ahead and ask.

More holes would be great, but the plants end up filling the space ;)

if I could just fit 4 plants per 30cm square Id buy one right away. I know they make customized one also but I wonder how much that costs

You probably need money just to find out. GH also have Dutch Pot Aero Systems. Cost a good bit but you have a steady price

hey, nice. Thanks. Any words on why my leaves are curling?

there could be many reasons for it....are all the leaves curling or just on a few plants? check the roots, check the EC and Ph and maybe even your timer. the reason I mention timer is because most of the plants that curl they leaves like yours are reveging and maybe your timer needs replacement, I talk out of my own experience when my timer start to loose its mind it just left the light run 24/7 and then back again 12/12. it almost fucked up my crop really bad

Hi M8......i am a fellow aeroflo guy...2x28 x 2x600w and satisfied.

Maybe I wouldent go so high on the PH as you do. Especially late in the flowering. I have built a PH automation for keeping the PH in check. around 200 usd total cost. Its worth it trust me.

I let it go from 5.5 to 5.9 max.

Maybe you are having the lamps to close for good ventilation making the leafs curl upwards because of the heat from the bulb.

How often do you change the water and do you use RO ?

Whats your current nutecomposition and numbers ?

Are you using calmag or mgso4 ?

How much water are you running in the tubes

I am using 600watts industria and would like to go for the AAW at some point aswell but I would say that 1200 watts on one aeroflo28 is excessive and maybe too much for the littel girls to use efficiently.

Hello,

all the plants have similar curling leaves. On the latest time I visited the grow, the leaves had hundreds of small yellow dots all over. This is also spread across all the plants. None of these spots to be seen underneath the leaves.

- the roots are white and filling out nicely.

Not sure if the timer is broken, but I don't think it is. This curling has been going on for 4-5 weeks.

- The leaves, as you can see in the pictures, are curling downways.

- The Ph is constantly at 5.8-5.9, never higher, somtimes lower at 5.7. I use the dry Ph-down powder from GH.

- EC allways between 1.1 and 1.9 (feed them once a week)

- The two Phillips 400W are 40 cm (16 inch) away, the AAW 30cm (12 inch)

- I change the water every 3-4 weeks. I don't use RO as we have soft water in our place (it's actually too soft some say) so the add a little ca to keep it level. According to this I use the soft formula. The sensi seeds purple haze in the other grow room are perfect (sitting in a rainforest)

- not using calmag or mgso4

- tubes are running at about 3 inches deep in water (too much?)

The AAW is great. Very good quality. Just looking at the SOG I'd say the AAW gives the plants nearly double the light of which the Phillips give off. Next grow I'll only use AAW I'm sure.

All in all the plants are producing serious amounts of THC. But the buds are coming a little slow and I think the curling downwards is the problem.

Thanks for stoping by guys. Usually feel a bit lonely here in this new community. This grow is my first in a good bit of time. Doing it as a trial and error.

Thank you and cu soon
