$2-3/seed - Good value for stable seed
$5/seed - Fair price for stable seed, good value for 'cup winner'/hyped strain ($75/pack of 15 Lanina/s.shock; $50 for 10 d.Straw D's; etc..)
$10/seed - Fair price for bomb seeds ($100 for 11 Serious anythings, 150 for 15 MrN SSH, 100 for 10 Soma G-crosses, etc)
$15/seed - Top market value of most hyped strains (Rez' clone only x's, dna's clone only x's, etc)
$20/seed - STUPID. Unless you fell in love with a strain. Shanti dosen't need the hype, but if I lost my ssh and crosses, and seeds, and SSH seeds were $320/pack of 16+ (20/seed) I would cough it up at some point. I'd expect Shanti's cust svc, and make f2's and prolly never buy seeds again, but I'd find a way to get em.

If they are more than $10/seed, ask hard.

i have NYCD and ROCK going right now, as of yet im happy with there performance.
im upset my ROCK had poor germ rates, high male count and soma dont give-a-dam so ive only got one girl, but w/e it could be a great plant, its only 39 days, i dont know yet, it certinly is a poor yielder but it might be the most narcotic smoke ive had, at that point ill be happy as all hell.

this is a tough question.....seed prices.......at least for me.......I think it all depends on so many different things

(1) your real financial situation....how much dough you really have
(2) how much you smoke and your tolerance level
(3) how important it is for you which breeder's seeds you are growing
(4) and so on and so on

each person has a set of values....which he uses to make this decision

for me before knowing anything about seed banks in 2007...while on vacation in Amsterdam I bought these



ww, wr, ah#3 and el nino, feminized 5 packs.....I was high of some kali mist from the greenhouse coffeeshop and bought it from their gift store in the center

but after reading many grow reports and knowing what I know now.....to start gaining growing experience I would have bought these.....The Pure, Kiwiskunk, Shit, Belladona, etc.....simple skunk strains and grow them till I got good at growing

then I would go for the next price level...and so on

the strain I would love to end up growing though is Amnesia Haze.....the buds I smoked in the dam....can't compare to any other weed I have ever smoked.....simply the best shit I have ever smoked....so in the end when I get really good at growing I will probably cough up the 130 eur for 10 seeds and then cross them with original MNS.....SSH or Mango Haze.....and then grow those beans for a while....since I smoked a cross similar to that and it was even better than Amnesia haze...but it was from a personal stash of a grower in Haarlem, in Holland

I ended up walking out of his house with no shoes on and it was wet and raining. didnt realize util I took about 10 steps lol. Now I know why he has a lost and found at his house. The bottom line is: Soma's entitled to charge whatever the heck he wants to charge. So is any other breeder on the planet. No excuses have to be made about the time/effort/difficulty of breeding....or past court expenses....etc.

It's a seller's market. They can charge what they want because honestly these are luxury items. Nobody will "die" without Soma's latest strain. You can get your meds from a bagseed if you're going to pull the medical marijuana card out of the deck.
And there's plenty of "cheaper" seeds out there to buy that are equivalent for medicinal purposes.

Soma has won numerous cups for his strains.....so something must be going on there as someone mentioned earlier.

I've smoked a ton of Soma's end product and loved every single bowl, bong-hit and bone.

Get a pack of his seeds, and if you are fairly competent you should find something in the batch worth keeping forever. Me, I've got Lavender and SoGouda ready to pop....

As far as him being elusive, sketchy, insincere.....whatever: practically nobody here knows the man personally. All you have is an intenet/media persona to go on. Sure, there have been complaints about various things such as germination and customer service....my overarching belief is that alot of this has to do with environmental issues and misunderstanding.

Soma has always personally responded to any issues and has IMHO acted in a way to help diffuse any situation. He's sent replacement seeds where indicated and he has always done right by most accounts.

The initial cost may be considerable for some people, and I don't want to cast aspersions on you if this is the case. However, as I said earlier: if you find something worth keeping which is more than likely....it's the best money ever spent and it will come back in spades.

I think Access has the right vibe going here. Ever since the OG days I have seen the same complaints about the prices of seeds and I always come to the same conclusion. In a free market prices are allowed to be determined by what the market will bear. Like Access said these are luxury items, so the natural market forces must apply. If there were price controls then we wouldn't have a free market and we wouldn't have folks risking their freedom to provide us with great genetics.

On the issue of cheaper f2's, I must say that I respectfully disagree with the poster above who claimed that they are crappy. I have grown many less expensive strains and I have found that they can produce some great weed. Nirvana's White Rhino and Mandala's Calichacra (sp?) come to mind. In fact I have never seen the vigir of growth yet rival the Cali.

Anyway, that said I would suggest that you check out Seedbay in the weekend specials section for some great deals on seeds. There are deals to be had, you just have to do some reasearch and have some patience.

Oh yeah, I just spent $1500 on upgrades to my room and I must say that $200 ain't nothin for the most vital part of the equasion.

Uh think you are wrong on this point, I believe that there are quite a few "medical" smokers here at ICMAG, just not all of us are in medical states and not everyone wants to talk about their disabilities and last but not least we do not want pity or special breaks. I buy what I can and have paid plenty for seeds in the past

This comes from a 48 year old Social Security Disability smoker in a state that is not medical

then the 2nd dude will get the airextracted lights, sunmaster bulbs 105,000 lumen`s and digital balasts....

$200 is nothin to compleet the perfect kit...

why not get the highest yealding medi strain if your broke...

also...f2`s can be better than f1....gypsys seeds are perfect for someone who is broke and wants good weed...thats why gypsy did it...so everyone could grow
