How would 150 watts of CFLs compare to a 150w HPS? Is there any real difference?
Also I want to build a scrubber and I have two mesh pencil holder cups. One is the same diameter as my 120mm fan then I have a smaller one. I was thinking about somehow suspending the smaller one in the larger one with the smaller cup set in about 2-3" then somehow reducing the air flow into the small cup and have the carbon in the layer between. I would like to see some good home made filters- I don't really want to do a ghetto job with anything in my case.

yep, i was going to post this. i see way too many people ruining transformers when this method is much better and easier and lets you keep a working power supply in your case for super stealth grows. you can even chop off the wires you don't need and just twist a black and green from the 20 pin together and then keep one 12 volt molex strand with 3-4 connectors on it and plug your fans directly into that.

150 HPS is MUCH better for flowering your plants in my opinion its just about
keeping the temps down... however CFLs can do the job and are much easier to
accomadate.
On a side note if your PC is going to be in view of guests, despite the easy and
cool mod i would vote against the power button, imagine a couple months of
work hermie-ing because someone accidentally hit it or tries to restart your
comp!

The mother plant this cutting came from has turned into a monster outdoors! I made a decision to use this grow to try making feminized seed using the light poisoning method (it had better work!) and also to give me some practice at the scrog technique.
So hopefully soon some lovely male flowers will start popping

I like the pc case grow method, stealthy and can be a good producer. I barely got 1 grow under my belt but starting my first pc case grow which is all set waiting on plants. using 50w hps converted from home depot security light w/1 14w cfl(maybe another cfl if heat is good), macgyver carbon filter, n other cheap supplys. Got a problem though dont know nothing bout ScrOG method, so anyone know, also bout to start my own grow diary

Glad to see you're jumping on the PC case band wagon!
ScrOG is my favorite training technique for PC cases by far, but it works a little different in PC cases than in other more conventional methods. Normally you'd want to start with clones or feminized seeds and give them lots of vegetative growth time (18/6 or 24/0 if you prefer) and then weave the branches through the screen as they grow. Once the screen was 3/4 filled you'd switch to flowering and they'd take off, producing a thick canopy of buds at an even height right above the screen.
But in PC cases where you're usually going 12/12 from seed and most of the time don't have access to clones and usually don't have feminized seeds the technique is a little different.
Just start 12/12 from seed and let them grow normally without any kind of training (you can LST if you want, but I don't find that necessary) until they show sex. Once they show sex remove the males and put the females under a ScrOG screen. At that point as they grow taller and begin to touch the screen just bend the main stem and any branches under the screen. As the stem and branches grow up through the next hole in the screen bend them down and tuck them under the screen again.
Just continue this pattern until the flowering stretch stops and you're happy with the arrangement of branches under the screen and then just let em grow.
As with regular ScrOG techniques it's always advised to trim off any leaf or tiny bud matter more than 3" or so below the screen, since they won't get enough light to produce anything worthwhile and will just waste the plant's energy that it could be using to make the buds above the screen bigger.

My rocketfish case is here and I will begin stripping out the unneeded pieces.
This thing is huge!!! I will be running a 100 watt cmh.

I am building a mom/clone cab, 24-1/2"H X 15"D X 8"W. I plan on making the bottom half a chamber for a bonsai'd mom and the clone chamber in the top 2/3's with a utility room for the other 1/3. I am in no hurry because money's tight and I am putting most of that into the 2'X4' closet, so this will be a work in progress. I hope to utilize the wealth of knowledge some of you have gained from walking this path before me. Still, I am looking forward to building this as much if not more than my growroom.
