I have a citizens arrest & I could have used as much force as necessary to apprehend the perpetrator. So they could of & should of beat the living shit out of Li. Getting help for mental illness is a huge problem in Canada all down the line. I'd be staying awake on the buses from now on, there's always the copy cat killer. Now it would have been nothing had he shot 5-10 people just another shooting spree. A good thing guns weren't involved. Li after searching out the smallest male killed & mutilated a sleeping man. I could never wear headphones, walkmans I like to hear the streets & surroundings. My condolences to the McLean family.

papa mona ... i agree with your comment on the "mass effect"; the problem is that it's supposed to work the other way, with the pack taking over and subduing the renegade. i think that we have heard the police say too many times not to try to apprehend a dangerous criminal. in this instance they should DEFINITELY have intervened. i just saw a photo of the passengers standing outside of the bus after the killing; i counted at least 7 good-sized males and a few smaller ones. because of their inaction one man is dead and taxpayers will now pay a LOT of money for this maniacs upkeep.

I dont understand why nobody tried to help the kid out. I never went on a greyhound without a knife or concealed firearm. I know i am not the only one who does that either. Bus drivers should carry weapons just in case of psychos like that.

We hope people don't walk around with weapons. Li had a concealed weapon I think the charges should be upgraded to first degree from 2nd. He had a weapon which means intent to use.

If we had to start training bus drivers including the inner city drivers in the use of weapons we'd also need to train them in self defence in case their weapons fail. They would need to go through physiological assessments on a regular basis. One driver was busted for DUI last month. Drivers were just on strike for stress they are repeatedly assaulted. This driving the high cost of transportation through the roof. This will not happen in reality. One killing does not necessitate this kind of action.

We don't need your hand guns in Canada we're fine with our long guns & hockey sticks. I've never felt so afraid I need to carry a weapon. I don't think Canadians in general are afraid enough to start carrying hand guns.

The bus driver probably has some protocol in these types of events. He probably ordered everyone off the bus. The 911 operators may have told passengers to only contain Li since the kid was probably already dead with vicious neck wounds. Either way one dead & one in custody.

it SHOULD, "should" being the operating word. People will always choose the path of least resistance. This sometimes means taking action over just doing nothing, but usually, in circumstances where taking action means joining in on a lynching or something of the sort...

and the fact of the matter is, in this situation, NO ONE could have done shit to save the guys life. If he was "stabbing in and out like a robot" in the chest area, by the time people had time to react the wounds would have been more than sufficient to ensure death before help arrived(remember, desolate stretch of road, waited for hours for police?). And sure, they could have prevented the decapitation, but.... Would you really risk your life for a cadaver?

I'm no pussy, but i ain't a fucking marine, i will (and have, sorry buddy... you know if i'd had a piece i would have defended you) leave a body behind.

Garnet Caton, who was sitting in front of the victim, heard the commotion and turned around thinking he was going to witness a fight.


Caton told CTV News that once he realized what was going on he screamed: "Stop the bus, somebody's getting stabbed, everyone get the hell off." Caton gathered a small group of people to go back and help the victim, said CTV's Murray Oliver in Winnipeg.

I wish i could feel the same as you brotha. I live in southern cali and down here you get shot. I Only have my views cause i grew up in this shit. I dont believe in killing innocents but i do believe some people should be killed. I know canada is a lot different. You guys leave your doors unlocked when you sleep.
