BIG GROW! SOG

That is a killer setup. Good job. I was thinking of setting up a large cloning room at one point to feed something like this with a fogger and no domes. Just fog the room, probably a greenhouse so the condensation wasn't an issue. I like your setup though, what size a/c do you use or do you use one?

Reservoir set-up

Hey Stoney,

Love the setup...I'm thinking of doing something like this, but 2 tables and 4 1000 watters to max out the yeild. I have a few simple questions though that I'm pretty sure haven't been asked yet...

How are you filling your reservoirs? Is it automated or are you just filling them up once a week? Are you using tap water or is it RO filtered? Please provide a little detail if you don't mind.

I've got two scenarios worked out for my set-up. I insist on using RO filtered water for best results so both scenarios require a 3rd reservoir. This third res will have a float value on it and be constantly topped off by the RO filter. The two ideas I have differ in that one will run with water automatically topped off and a manual flushed every week. The other I will manually flush and fill every week.

I'm thinking that doing the second will be easier and less expensive....I can still use the 3rd res to fill with RO water and then just pump it into each of the other res's sometime in between pump cycles....SO...assuming that you are just flushing and filling once a week (which I think you are :chin:) does a 70 gallon res take care of the 4x8 table for a week (as far as the water level goes) provided that you check and adjust the Ec levels/pH levels nightly.

Also, I'm guessing you might have mentioned this above, but what is your pump cycle like? How many times daily and how long each time? Do you seperate each cycle by and exact amount of time or do you have it scheduled another way depending on light times? Please provide a little detail. Thank you in advance for your time answering these questions and I hope all is well with your grow. Peace!

I have read his thread a couple of times...let me see if I can volunteer some info before he comes back. I am also running a large SOG, so I can tell you what works for me, also.

For ease I would run the Botanicare 115 gallon res, that fits under a 4x8 table. Less water changes and more stable PH are just a few of the benefits. It looks like he is either running that one or the 70. The formula I have been working on doesn't require res changes, so running a larger res is very beneficial (not to mention a big help for those patients that would need help with a larger res). I have it documented on another site and I have not had to change the res once during the entire grow.

As far as RO...if you look at Stoney419's pics you will see that he has an RO unit next to his sink. Not sure if he is using it, but it is there.

I believe he said that he is cycling his buckets every two-three hours (lights on) and once during lights off.

Just a thought...when running a large SOG you want things to be as simple as possible. That is why I am running the largest res's, I can, and not changing the res (nute change). The PH stays pretty stable, temps are easier to control and water replacement is easy. As far as res changes, my plants (multi strains on the same res) love it and I have not change it since the beginning of the grow. My water quality is decent so no need to add RO into the equation. Just adds more cost, user time and another variable if you run into an issue.

Good luck with your grow and I hope it works out.

BTW...Stoney419, great thread and thanks for keeping us updated.

Hey Stoney,

Are you using the Triflex nutes still, Grow and Bloom? If so, did you notice a reduction of the yield switching from AN? Did the taste and smell improve?

Also wondering how you are draining the tables... got any pics of their setup?

Thanks for all the great info man, enjoy the fruits of your labor. :rasta:
