Quitting Cigs Day 2

Ok so it has been my first whole day since i had a cigarette. I want to quit but don't know if it would be so bad to smoke 3 a day becuase I do enjoy an occassional cigarette - as it was before i only smoked half a pack a day , always have just smoked a half pack never a big chain smoker. But today I went all day without a cigarette and my last cig was about 26 hours ago and i thought maybe I could quit. But like i said I do enjoy a cigarette after a meal , but sometimes I do smoke in between meals when driving or after a joint or if I get stressed. Should I quit straight up or just smoke after meals and not inbetween meals?

I have been smoking 6 years so it won't be easy.

I am also looking forward to this so it makes me even more anxious

basically I am asking is it just as bad for you to smoke 3-4 cigs a day as it is to smoke 10-12 cigs? or should I just quit alltogether ?

you are an addict. the only way to deal with an addiction is to not feed it. i have been quit for over 5 years now. it's tough at first but you CAN do it. good luck.

p.s. : there are groups online you can go to for support; i found it very helpful.

Good luck dude. Great job making it to where your@. I've quit four times now. Every time it gets worse. Colo rectal then lung cancer sucked tho. I guess I need to quit for good. Chantix really works, if taken like it is prescribed. I wish when I was 13 I would of not ever smoked a cigarette. I can't believe I ever thought it was cool. Smoking joints, in place of tobacco, is helpful when quitting(thats from personal experience). It can be done tho. Stay happy/healthy/green.

since nicottene is *very addictive*...very few people can actually smoke *occassionally*

I smoked tobacco from when I was 13 to around 27....so that made it 14 years straight......around ten years ago I decided to give up smoking tobacco....completely

it was so fuc...ing difficult to live with the body demanding nicotine....its hard to describe

it was even more difficult than quiting smoking pure cocaine...when I was 24

before quiting I read a lot of articles about it....and the best experts wrote....quiting *cold turkey* is the best and most effective way to quit

the first year it was very difficult dealing with *nicotine cravings* that my stupid ass organism put me through

after that first year it got easier.....and now ten years after I put down those cigarretes....i have not smoked any tobacco at all....not one cig in ten years

i simply stopped smoking them.....and no matter how much I suffered from those cravings....i simply wouldn't light up...just suffered and waited

after ten to twenty minutes these cravings would go down in intensity and I could go on with my life

I did eat a lot more and gained around ten pounds of extra fat

so after the cravings for ciggarretes went away....i got my ass on a fat burning program....and burned all the fat off also

as of today...i don't smoke tobacco and don't drink alcohol at all and have about 10% body fat

occassionally I smoke cannabis...especially when vacationing in my favorite place in the world...Holland...and since I am only one hour flight away these days....I like to visit twice per year

when home in my eastern europe country...i smoke cannabis...once in a while...on the weekends...or some holidays....but only because I like smoking sativas...which make me think very well about how to run my business more profitably

when I retire around 55....i plan on moving to either holland and spain....and set up a regular growroom to grow weed for myself...and then I will smoke weed maybe 5 times per week....in the evenings....some nevilles haze, amnesia haze, mako haze, etc.

I just love that sativa high....nothing is beter for me

so if you want to quit tobacco forever...just stop cold turkey...since there is not much good that comes from smoking it.....statistics show the same thing...dangerous as hell for your long term health...and leaves such a nasty taste in your mouth...yuck

Hey man I've quit and am on my 11th month. Sometimes you risk having an "i dont care" moment and thats when you gotta watch out. Good luck, and whatever you do, don't think one puff is harmless cuz it just makes another puff easier.

Cold turkey here & the best thing I've done since growing Cannabis. Every day it will get better & easier. Wait until you start smelling smokers a mile away. Than you'll know you've got her licked.

Quitting is easy, I do it all the time!!!

All Joshing aside, the first three days are the worst. After that, the physical symptoms of nicotine withdrawal will have subsided. Then, it's all about breaking the 'force of habit'.

Good luck, my man! If you want it, it won't be that bad.

I would quit cold turkey if you have already started. I smoked for 16 years and have been smoke free for 3yrs and one month. :jump:

It took me about a month or so to quit. I went to 5 a day to 4..3..2..and then on the last day smoked one and didn't buy another pack. It is really hard but you are already experiencing some of the worst of it right away. The anxous feeling will hang around for a while ...so smoking weed will help with that. I still dream once and a while that I smoked and wake up feeling guilty as if I cheated. I will say though DO NOT CHEAT..if you do.. start your counting over. Counting my time as a quitter kept me in check a lot. I never cheated even once and am so proud to be a non-smoker now. I do not spend a lot of time at the bar but when we do go I still get cravings so just try to avoid things that create that feeling. You sound like you are ready to quit so good luck to you... stay strong.

Has anyone ever done a study on tobacco smokers that only smoked pure/unprocessed/unlaced/un-bigtobacco tobacco? I think it may be the 500+ chemicals they add to their cigarettes that do the damage. Maybe you could grow your own tobacco and get off on that; It has to be better than the alternative.

FUCK BIG TOBACCO! I have to believe they are at least partially responsible for outlawing Mary Jane, and keeping it that way.

I once went 6 years without a cigarette. I didn't "quit," (The longest I ever quit for was maybe a month.) I would simply decide not to have this one cigarette right now. Then I had one at a party. I'd gone 6 years. How bad could one be? Within the week I was back up to a pack a day.

In those 6 years, there was never a time I didn't want one. That's just part of the deal. You're over the biggest hump. My fingers are crossed for you. Break a leg!

thats so true I had two years off em and one smoke and its up to pack and a half within a month. But been a week without a smoke but im still getting nicotine via lozenges they take the insane edge off of cold turkey but they are just as addictive and can give gum mouth cancer. Starting with 4mg then switching to 2mg then biting the 2mg in half slowly weaning yourself can be a gentler way of quitting. Talked to the cashier at walgreens about em and says a few customers come in saying they are just addicted to the gums and lozenges now go figure...

My dad smoked for 20 years and ended up quitting cold turkey. I'd say its been close to 8 years since he had one. Tried the gum, patch, even tried getting hypnotized and nothing worked. You've gotta have some really strong will power to do it. Best of luck to ya.

well i didn't smoke a black and mild i would consider that cheating, but i did smoke a blunt which has tobacco in the wrapper. does that count as a cigarette because i will have to find another way to smoke weed too
