Do people know what cannabis cultivation smells like

I ask because I want to invite a couple friends over to my house and I'm a week in to flowering. My house has a definite acidic skunk smell that hits you as soon as you walk through the front door. The smell I think is much different that smoked marijuana or anything else. My question is, would the average person recognize that as growing MJ or pass it off as some strange odor? I know exactly what it smells like, but only because I grow. Would other people? Thoughts?

If they would recognize burning herb, or a bag of herb, they would recognize a grow. Stay safe. Box fan blowing OUT of a window in a room containing a closet grow will keep smell out of the house, but then it stinks outside.....

Yeah, right now my grow room is vented in to the rest of the house, which is fine because I live alone. At some point I'll need to invest in a carbon scrubber.

get a scrubber if you live in the states that kinda smell is dangerous

get a scrubber.

it's even better if you could throw one on the intake and the exhaust.

If you can smell it in your house, clearly it means you aren't exhausting outside, at least not 100% of the time, or with enough CFM.

I'd definately grab a carbon filter.

hell, I'm going to call you out for even asking this question. I mean, I'm assuming growing is illegal where you are, and could likely mean prison time, or at least a real PITA.

We're talking about a simple $100-$200 dollar investment that will decrease the risk of someone dectecting your grow by smell, even when inside your home, by about 100%.

Can you even put a value on that? I bet it'd be priceless if you were sitting in the can because someone smelled your grow and reported you.

I'm not being harsh to be a prick, just to keep you out of trouble, especially when it's something as simple as a carbon filter.

Get yourself a charcoal scrubber, cause its the ones who know what it smells like that you gotta worry about.

they'll bound to be curious as to what smell that is. and you know its an organic odour. they'd then ask if you guys are close enough.

and never assume what people know or dont know.

stay safe.

Scrub the air man, you never know who lives next door. Anyone could show up at anytime and the smell is very distinctive.

i had some friends over a long time ago before I had any sort of odor control, and one of their younger daughters went by the grow room and goes "ew a skunk must be dead in there" ha. Shit, time to go out and eat!!!

Maybe I'm just immune to the grow and the flowering room but I've had a lot of people come over and they've never said anything. I mean the house already smells like ganja from me smoking lol. But even when it doesn't reek of burning weed..it doesn't smell like a grow is going on. I'm just lucky. Or maybe I just haven't ran into a strain that stinks up the whole block yet lol.

i think the average person does NOT know.

if you need a quick cheap fix for smell, just make something in your kitchen that stinks good like onions and garlic. that's all anybody will smell for a couple of hours.

I believe anyone who has smoked really good marijuana will know exactly what a grow smells like when the smell it. I did, and my friends do lol.

Yeah I would just say I just smoked and they would never question it again. I just say yeah I smoked some really good weed.

There is no substitute for a Carbon filter, you should spend the $ and get a nice one if you ever want peace of mind.

YES they will know what it is.. quick story.... My ex-wife comes to my house after 6 years of divorce. I had not one trichome in or on me or my house.. She walked in and said "it smells weird in here". I told her my brother just took a shit and it might be that. Then she said "no, no it smells like fresh marijuana". I told her 'uh, you must be mistaken' no one here smokes cannabis. She had a puzzled look on her face and so did I. 'Cause there was not ONE plant in the house or any dried buds at all. I clean up real well when she comes over, as so she wont smell them. I dont grow in my house even, so i am figuring i must have gotten a trichome or two on my clothing or hands earlier in the day. Now my ex-wife has NEVER seen me smoke and has no clue i smoke. Last time we hung out together was in the police academy, and she thinks i'm a "goody two-shoe" (what ever that means). So i was able to pull it off, but Sheeeeit if she knows what "fresh" cannabis smells like, i might be wondering the same about her! lol hahah...
Just take every precaution you can to keep people ignorant of the fact,. and like hogg said earlier, make some great tasting stir fry or something that smells more powerful than the cannabis. fresh baked brownies are a good one (not canna brownies). hope this helps,, peace.

Don't they teach you what fresh cannabis smells like in the police academy?

That would be my main concern. Most people may not know what fresh cannabis smells like, but cops do.
