yea, they made about 90,000 a deckhand and then they were going out to fish king crab to make even more bank. thats one hell of a paycheck.

I would love to be out there too.... I plow snow in winter so i love the cold, love the sea, but couldnt stay off land so long!
yeah i did sum research, and the "farwest leader" is a king AND opie boat.
it's owned by "trident seafoods"...which is BIG in Alaska for those who dont know.
..and now i dont see any reason why "Chili" wont be back.....i didnt know he was an engineer and deckboss w/ lots of experience...(i just thought he was a chump).

i like the show....sucks tho that its not as competitive as it used to be. now every boat has a quota and they can only get that much.
my girlfriend is from dutch harbor. her dad still works as a longshoremen there. he says that deadliest is wrecking dutch harbor. everyone is to concerned about the tv show. he says everyone just plays to the cameras.
i still like the show. it sucks tho how this could be potentially bad for the town

but....dutch harbor (just like most of AK) has ALWAYS had boom and bust industry...crab fishing, and now worldwide TV stardom is no different, and when you dont get a piece of it your gonna blame someone....so now those not banking wanna blame "deadliest catch"....i suppose i should have seen that coming.

damn...i looked and looked, but i cant find it....i saw it on discovery.com and it was about the bar "latitudes"...located in dutch...originally purchased for like 800 bucks but recently sold for 400+ grand....and is for sale again...of course....

indeed yukon very good point.
i know that alot of hostility in the town comes from Discovery channel focusing its shows on ships that dont even come from dutch. most come from seattle.
also it would be cool if they would show something about the history of dutch. pretty crazy stuff up there. gotta love it.

If sig didnt get pissed like that....he wouldnt be a great highliner. Doesnt help that hes not on the crab.
My big disappointment was with phil. He totally dropped the ball when he nodded off. NOT COOL. Ive known guys to get fired for that same shit. I guess redbull loses its wings after 55 of them.

It doesn't help that junior can't keep the crab count either. that kid is showing how big of an idiot he is this season.
junior was a doufus from the get-go last season (remember when edgar put about a hundred zipties on his raingear)...junior cut them off and chopped his gear up really bad ...then he thought it was "funny" to work w/ 1000 holes in his gear. (i dont think dude is all there) 
not wearing their knives either... that alone should get junior kicked off.
northwestern has seemed to strike bad luck with this trip. they get a late start, can't find the crab, forget their good luck rituals... and to top it off the crew has seemed sloppy as hell which doesn't help

they know where to go and who to talk to, and peeps will tell them where the crab are because next season they want that same "respect".
they will bank in the end... i can almost guarantee that.
