What's new

need a great organic bloom fert.

i just bought alaskan fish emul. which is 5-1-1 and grandmas molasses for carb and flavor. i'm going to use superthrive even though it's chemical but i would like for my main bloom fert to be organic so that most of the stuff i use is organic.
any and all suggestions welcome

I would suggest looking at the Basic Compost Tea Guide. My flowering tea usually consists of FFOF POM 0-5-0, ewc, compost, kelp, molasses. per gal about 1 tsp 0-5-0, 1tbs ewc, 1/4-1/2 tsp kelp, and 1 tsp of mollasses, bubbled 1-3 days.

I'd recommend earth juice bloom (0-3-1) and foxfarms big bloom (.01-.3-.7) for extra K. as for ingredients, you can look that up.

All the suggestions for bloom ferts will work fine. I highly suggest not using superthrive during flowering. You should research whats actually in it before using something.

comfrey and Hi-Phos bat guano. Let the comfrey sit for a month in a big bucket, throw in some nettle for good measure, and let it sit for a month or two. It will reek! That's when you know its done.

Throw this in a tea with some castings, hi-phos bat guano, and some molasses, and you will have quite the organic bloom fert.

The main thing your looking for in organic food sources is N-P-K (Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium). The ratios of the numbers should be 3-1-2 for veg and 1-3-2 for flower. What you use doesn't matter much. For Nitrogen you could use alfalfa meal, dried blood or Mexican bat guano. For Phosphorous try bone meal, Jamacian bat guano or Neptune's Harvest fish. And for Potassium it's kelp meal, seaweed or Earth Juice Meta-K. And there are others.

Anything thats 1-3-2 or along these NPK analysis will work...

i just bought bone meal for phosphorous, but neither of my ferts have much potassium.
my fish emul. has 5-1-1 and the bone meal is 6-12-0. ( i also use superthrive and grandmas molasses.

will i need to supplement with something for potassium?

organic only with X-X-X values and components or what it's made from please.

I'm with quadracer on the comfrey. Just soak the leaves in some water and a few weeks later when its stinking real good, dilute and feed. NPK 8:2.6:20.5 for the concentrate.

Also, dandelions are another great source of potassium. How bout' a little comfrey/nettle/dandelion tea? mmmmmmm :joint:

Do not use the Super Thrive in bloom. I like it in veg and when transplanting, but never in bloom. Some folks don't like it at all. It just comes down to personal preference.

please tell me why not superthrive in bloom, not arguing just like to know the why behind things and thanks to all the great people who have put up suggestions, keep them coming.

Check the ingredients of super-site (I mean super-thrive) it's a chemicle dump. NOT organic. I don't use it but:
1. eather has nitrogen in it or makes the plant use nirtogen in a way unconducive to flower development.
2. i'ts a chem (thats why i don't use it) your buds will taist like monsanto's Butt.
Don't read chem company propaganda read IC Mag Organic Soil Regulars B1, S, Dig and the rest.

do you use them together or separate.

not much x-X-x in the sea-kelp, i was under the impression that this is the primary bloom nute

i do understand it's chemical, but i've heard (read) it's praises sung right here on icam.

tried to look up ingredients on bottle and website and could not find them, can you site the specific chemicals you are referring to?

thank you for your feedback, keep it coming!
