hmmm....well I think I'll have to cut in a 8 x 8 darkroom louver in an effort to get my temps down, that is unless someone knows of a source for a smaller size, say 4 x4 - 6 x 6.....

Fragrance and trich production are increasing...I am considering upgrading my carbon filter, either DIY style or buying one...any thoughts on the security of procuring on online?

not sure on the louver but im sure ordering a filter online would be fine. just use a money order and fake name, should be fine. make sure to buy from a shop that ships discreetly, many will tell you this in the faq or something. later!

Well after 1 1/2 hours and $50 I've constructed a larger carbon filter, it'll get the smoke-test when the little lady comes home from work and either complains about the smell or says nothing...I shamelessly followed DurbanPoison's excellent tutorial and feel I've saved money and not risked my security by building my own...

Also a very good thing, 2 of my 4 new clones are showing roots through their jiffy pellets. Hopefully the other two will show in the next day or so. If not well 50% sure beats my original 0% survival rate. Now if they can only grow large enough to provide clones for the next run, which should be in about 6 weeks or so...

Do you have a humidome over your clones???? Have you ever thought about a bubble cloner? Their cheap easy to build and you will almost get 100 % survival rate.

Scrog is where it's at. I have been playing around with various methods to see what works best. Did some LST this time around, but will probably go back to SCROG

Connoisseur300 - Yup, they've got a humidome on them, I'm thinking about a bubble cloner or wick cloner for the next batch of clones...but checked on them this morning, #3 has roots, oh and my stoner ass couldn't remember how many clones I'd taken, 5 not 4, so we're currently at 3/5, for 60%...

SoulShine- How's it going? I love Gov't Mule, catch them everytime they come around. I've definately run out of vertical room, will need to scrogg next time to take advantage of my horizontal space. BTW nice looking roots.

Murphy - The temps are maxing out at 86, which I think is too high. One day when it was unusually warm the box crept into the low 90's. I'm going to add a 8x8 darkroom louver to increase the airflow...next round I'm going to go with the CMH. Maybe Freezerboy can chime in on this, how much cooler do they run? Also I've got a cool-tube setup will that be detrimental to the CMH spectrum?

I'm using a 400 watt cmh in a cab that I can have a total grow space of less then 8 square feet (I can raise it up to make more). I keep my temps in the upper 70's to low 80's. Only a 4 inch axial fan blowing on the bulb and a 4 inch inline fan and carbon scrubber. Depending on the way you set it up, you can get the temps down. Here's a couple of shots from last week of the grow area. I don't use a cool tube or an air cooled reflector. It's an umbrella reflector I keep the plant tops about 6 inches from the bulb. I had it as low as 4 inches but got some slight light burn on a few leaves.



CMH at it's best! keeping temps cool for Cabinet or Freezer growers!!!

well hope the pix are of interest...I've spent some serious stoner time gazing into my cab and I've got some ideas for the next run.
1st - Turn the HPS 45 degrees closer to being perpindicular with the door... increasing light coverage while not hurting the exhaust ventilation

2nd- Run 4 containers in a scrog while cutting in an 8x8 darkroom louver in the center of the floor

pretty simple actually copied panopticist (sp?)

took 2 50 cd spindle covers and stuck them into each other and drilled 4 1/2" holes in the nested spindle cover( if that makes sense ) then I cut a cotton washcloth into strips and folded them over so they fit in the 1/2" holes. Then I put some filtered water in the bottom spindle (the resevoir) with 2 drops of superthrive. Next I filled the top with perlite and added 2 clones in peat pucks to the mix, scooped out little holes for them. hoping it works great.....

I have used pucks for clones myself and I have put perlite around the bottom of each one but I have never did a reservoir thing. I know from my experience with clones the main idea is to have them warm and humidified like in a dome and on a heat pad they hardly need watering. But keep us updated I would like to know how that works for you. peace & and thanks for sharing your grow!

Well a quick update, 4 of the 5 clones have rooted and been transplanted, here's to hoping they take off quick so I can get some cuts for the next round. I'm not to worried about the other clone as she came from a very leafy phenotype. It's rather strange, all the others have IMHO a decent calyx to leaf ratio but this girl has massive amounts of leaf and has barely started to produce trichs...such a shame too as her main cola is about 13"...oh well. Anyway I'd say the wick cloner is a success and will be used again. Hope everyone had a good 4/20

so these CMH bulbs are just as good as anyother MH HID and thay burn cooler????? I don't know didlly squat about these bulbs.

Well I can't speak from experience as I haven't ordered one yet, but from everything I've read the burn cooler and emit a better spectrum of light. I'm definately going to find one for my next grow, don't know if any electrical supply houses around here stock them...might just have to bite the bullet and order online. Pix coming tomorrow hopefully...

The 5th clone, which is off the different pheno still hasn't rooted but I'm waiting patiently. I'm thinking about giving the clones a 1/4 dose of Superthrive and FF's Big Bloom when they need some H20...thoughts on this idea?

On a side note I'm planning on acquiring some tot locks and 2 midget darkroom louvers, I'll let everyone know how those go.
