What's new

Vertical NGB 150HPS

jim i didn't see that thread until you gave the link or fully understand what your trying to do. now i see what your up to, and very cool idea to do this with DWC(notorious for root growth). i bet it makes a ridiculous amount of bud.

what do you think your veg time would be? to be honest i don't see a need, hydro veg completely pee's on the soil veg growth. i think it's freakin awesome for outdoor plants as you don't really have control of the lights like you do indoor. not only that but the stretch that you get with hydro is jaw dropping compared to soil. not that they stretch more, but the amount of growth during the stretch.

i hope you got a lot of room for that dude! i would really be interested in following that diary.

Still vegging... one of the clones is beginning to swell where it looks as if a root
may begin to show, things finally seem to be back on track. :joint:

stke_fingas: I am a micro grower so I do NOT have the room(at least the room i
wish that i had for this particular project:joint:.) However I train my plants and
wouldnt mind the extra roots for more balanced plant growth.

When i bend my plant, and then begin to train, buds located closest to the
roots grow much more vigorously, so having two sets of roots can also
hopefully promote more consistent access to nutes.

OR

I can make a pretty sweet ass bonsai mom!

Thanks for checking out the thread jmn2dmb.
Samm things are much smoother now everything is just working like it supposed to again...
In fact one of my cuts is so healthy its showing hairs in 24/0. (No roots though)

Ive actually noticed a few on the mother as well i think that she is ready to go into
12/12, just waiting on some damn roots!

It's go time after 7 weeks of recovery...

It's go time after 7 weeks of recovery...

Ok so just approcahing 7 weeks of vegging I have decided enough is enough its
time to get this thing going.

The plant before the trimming...

And after the trimming, fresh transition nutes, brand new aerators for the DWC... :joint:

Full shot of the plant and roots, as for the clones... no roots, but i have faith!

Timers are set to go and once my light is on i will be moving my large plant
under the HPS.

Looks like root rot. Make your reservoir lightproof, and add a wee bit of H2O2 to try to clean the roots up a bit. Notice how the new root growth is a nice shiny white.. then look at the rest of the root mass. Good luck man.. never have I seen a plant grow like this, let alone recover!

I was careless when doing the res change and actually left the roots to dangle
about 20 thus i got the brown roots, they looked much much better before i let
them dry out... hopefully thye will be fine over the next few days :bashhead:

Camera I got over xmas break can take a nice HPS pic:joint:, its official, 12/12 begins...

As for my seedling that hasnt shown roots, i have a feeling i will be seeing roots
as soon as tommorow. :jump:

***EDIT: To take your advice, i have a frozen water bottle in the res now just to keep
things a little cooler, but the res is def light proof (i check with every res swap) thanks purplepotion :joint:

Clones just over 2 weeks, the DWC cloner never ceases to amaze me :joint:

They still patiently await their transplant (the healthier of the two will vegetate
and the other I will either toss out our transplant into flowering.)
So far no real action with the original plant 5 days into 12/12, still waiting on
that stretch...

Shiva Skunk now 10 days of 12/12

Shiva Skunk now 10 days of 12/12

May have had a brief power outage over the past few nights but nothing significant
has really come of the minor 5-10min brownouts in the past, i guess.

This plant is confusing me it looks like it is just ready to flower, no signs of a
stretch ten days in, but pistils begin to fill up the top of all my shoots.

Not much excitement just the usual

Not much excitement just the usual

A week later 17 days into 12/12:

Cant complain but i still hope the stretch is yet to come, i would like to see these
shoots get through the screen a little more before they start to beef up...

Clones now full vegetating plants...

Yeah so a little harsh on the nutes it shows when it comes to hydro, problem has
been dealt with (check out the green growth on top.)

Its time that I figured out what to do with these two, so far my best plan
includes a new res, bending each of these plants, rerooting the plants, then
throwing them into flower under my CFLs. When my main plant finishes up
they can move under the HPS and finish. :joint:

But if i were to do this idea a small veg chamber would need to hold a couple
clones for a few weeks, I am considering a PC grower as a temporary solution.

Shiva Skunk, just over 3 weeks...

Shiva Skunk, just over 3 weeks...

Now 24 Days since 12/12:

Ok so the canpoy and side shot. The plant is still really short and there is alot
of room for it to stretch under the HPS and temps have been great in there.

The the red box from the picture on the left is pictured right, zoomed in. The
plant has progressed in the last week but a little more slow than I would like.
Dunno if this thing is gonna stretch, without a stretcht there isnt much to it as
of right now... but even if it doesn't i hope to be flowering my clones soon
anyways. :joint:

Hey Samm, really nice to see u posting in here again... I was getting lonely:D

Quick shot of the resevoir swap

Not much thought used in the transplant and lost some fan leaves in the process
of moving the plant pictured on the left.

Both of these plants will grow up another week or so, trimming the shoots of an
entire side of the plant off and bending it down at the base at a 90 degree angle

The tops of one of the clones will be trained to be "rerooted" into my DWC, the
other will grow out. Both plants will flower and we should have a pretty good
idea if double rooting works well with DWC, if it helps balance growth on the plant,
or if it simply has no effect at all, either way I am having a "controlled experiment"
here and may open a new thread for just this concept.

And another week...

And another week...

Now on 31 Days of 12/12:

Same ol canopy but a week later... crystals have become visible in the past few days :joint:

Here is the side shot you can see the shoots sticking out the top of the screen
and the second shot here is just showing how much light is still managing to
get though the canopy, i feel i could vegged another week or so... oh well

Next in line... these ladies are healthy although the plant on the right is obviously
feeling a little more healthy than the left plant. Both were bent a few days
ago and i am considering 12/12 as soon as i attempt to do that rerooting thing.
