This is indeed bad news. I heard those were the best.....which leaves the homebox as far as good grow tents go. Damn.

Please post specific info about this recall. Like mentioned in another thread, I think you have them mixed up with Hydrohut/Habitat tents which actually are having a recall and issues with the tents putting off a poisonous gas.

Great info everyone!!! Mr. Bojangles, we seem 2 be sportn the same setup
what ype of ladies u running in there?

Hi ShawnyBoy

Right now I have 2 Nirvana K2 plants in there, 1 Ultra Haze #1, 1 Strawberry Haze, and 1 bagseed sativa plant. I swear I ran out of bagseed making test plants for the Hydrohut after trying replacing parts and cleanings and etc.. Had to dip into my less expensive seeds at the end there, but I had been reassured the replacement Habitat tent was cool, which turned out to be incorrect. My instinct to not break out the Diesel seeds just yet was spot on though hehe.

Those K2's are really stable plants, the buds have a sweet/skunky odor and are quite large & crystallized at one month of flowering. The Haze plants & the bagseed look like 3 month strains, but are developing as expected.

Next in there will be Hashberry in a few days, then Strawberry Diesel & Jock Horror which are just about ready to start veg growth.

After all this BS with the bad Hydrohut and bad replacement Habitat, I see a bit of serendipity in that it honestly looks like I will have some K2 ready to smoke on exactly 4/20 :joint:

With mediocre dank priced at 120 a quarter around my parts, it has been a while since I've had good stuff to smoke too! Since the pre-hydrohut crop ran out a couple of months ago really.

Good luck with your setup, and don't sweat this mixed up talk about the Jardin Tents.. Everyone out there reports smooth sailing with them, myself included.

This is my dr120 and its current occupants, a grabbag of survivors from my messed up Hydrohut & its messed up Habitat replacement.

They've had a bit to recover and have been switched to 12/12 like a day ago.

Smooth sailing so far in the Jardin tent, so I give it an initial recommendation.

I don't care for the sock ducting things though, and I'm using the Hydrohut duct flanges instead with holes I cut myself.

what fan are u using to pull air thru your filter? i have the same tent and i plan on using a 600 hps...

Hi lioni

I use 2 6 inch vortex fans for exhaust. The one going to the filter is at 60% or so with a speed controller though, so likely pulling around 200-230cfm at the filter itself. I basically have it matched to the intake fan that runs when the lights are on so it just barely maintains negative pressure in the tent. I have determined that running the vortex at like 75% speed was letting a little smell through, so I turned it down to the minimum I could and still maintain negative pressure.

I mention this in case you are considering using one strong fan to pull air through the filter and light, which would work with a 600w in terms of heat removal, but you may have to pull too much air through a can33 sized filter to maintain full odor removal at the same time.

Woo look at the time.. 4:20 around here just about, and I'm rambling, so I'm out..

Good luck with your setup!

I've done a lot of research and Secret Jardin Dark Room are definitly the best grow tents / huts whatever. check out my thread on a perpetual 1000 watt harvest, I think I have a better ducting setup idea then what Mr. Bojangles has.

I plan on having one ducting system with two fans and one long carbon scrubber. Here is the chain Fan-Carbon Scrubber-Light-Fan; Air from the grow room gets sucked into the fan and pushed out of the carbon scrubber gets cleaned, then pases over the 1000 watt HPS cooling it, then it leaves the grow room with no smell. Can anyone point me to threads where others have done this,

Hey rokuez

Your idea of running everything in series like that would definitely get more air going over the light, with equivalent fans.

That said, since you called me out and all hehe, I will say that in my opinion, your idea is way inferior to mine. Not that I am the setup master or anything, but I see a number of problems you may have not considered. But its cool, I appreciate that my hybrid jardin exhaust setup is thrown out there as a standard to be improved upon, not that it isn't just a work-around to set up my tent's airflow like the handy-people who build their own boxes.

Anyways, check this out..

You'll need about 450cfm of airflow to the 1000w to cool it without a/c. in my experience.

As I was mentioning above, I have to run my can 33 vortex at about 200cfm to keep it effective, any more and I catch some smell coming through with a full tent o' buds as I am blessed to have, so, you would need a significant upgrade in terms of filter airflow capacity to run enough airflow to cool the light and still keep the air scrubbed properly.

A can66 inline would work in theory, but the minimum airflow is listed at 200cfm, and the maximum is 412. Maybe just enough to cool the 1000w light, and you'd barely be cutting it for exhaust when you cut off one fan during lights off assuming you tried to make that work. Certainly don't want to ride the margins when it comes to odor control though.

Can doesn't seem to make a bigger inline filter, but the next step up which makes sense given the airflow demands would be the can75 which is comfortable between 300 and 600cfm. That filter uses 61 pounds of carbon and the total weight is 79 pounds, so plan on finding something similar inline or building one yourself. Perfect for 2 fans at like 250-300cfm each, but a filter that size would be quite large for a 5x5 tent.

Another problem I see is that you'll be cooling your light with heated air from the tent. This will result in a gradual increase in temperature in the tent, though with the volume of air movement in this scenario I don't think it would be a deal breaker, just another consideration.

One more thing to keep in mind.. If you're pulling 400-500cfm of air OUT of the tent, then you'll need to pump around that amount of air IN to the tent or the efficiency of your setup will be drastically reduced as your 2 fans struggle to pull more air into the tent. So you'll basically need a 3rd large fan like a 6'' vortex for intake. Trust me man, it is LOUD in my room with 1 6'' vortex at full speed and one at half. People describe them like little airplane engines, which I think is a bit extreme, but not too far off the mark. As I type this from the other side of the house, if I pause the music, I can hear the gentle whooshing of sweet marijuana being made. Like a 2nd air conditioner is on in the house or something.

I'm rambling, but, I'm trying to say, that 3rd large fan may put you over the frustration zone or require extreme soundproofing measures.

Well I think that is my thesis on the idea of running 2 fans and a scrubber in series with a 1000w light.

Good luck however you proceed rokuez!

hey everybody! i am a former hydrohut user seeking the light aka secret jardin dr80 to start with.

is it possible to put a 600w aircooled hps in the dr80?

i plan on using a stanley blower and would like to know how to incorporate it in the setup of the dr80. inside or outside? mods?

thanks guys! i don't even know if the new canvas they send me for my HH will be perfectly infection-free...

I need a cheap safe way to get my light at the VERY top of my DR120 so I can maximize vertical growth... Here is how I have it now:

The idea I have so far is to get 4 S-hooks and put them through the holes on the reflector, have a small piece of chain they would both hook on to, and hook those chains to chains/S-hooks on the top, instead of using the metal triangles on top...that still wouldn't be to the very top though, might give me another 2-3 inches....any ideas to hang it at the very top?

Thanks!

Nirvana k2 @ 50 days (same bud pictured above):

Pretty cool what 20 days can do!

Here's my other k2, this one is more x-mas tree style:

Good times in the Jardin tent!

i am resurrecting this thread with a progress report.

i ordered a dr 80 from bghydro.com and they were very helpful. the order arrived very quickly.

for those who are interested the exterior of the plain cardboard box says "secret jardin darkroom dr 80," and also has the weight and physical dimensions. it was nice and low key, although the truly paranoid might not like that it says anything at all other than the shipping information.

WTF is up with that? I'm trying to get my order killed because of this post and also BGhydro makes no mention that the street version isn't really 100% lightproof and that is where the money savings comes from. I'm pissed.

Don't be cheap and you usually won't have these kinds of problems :D

:rasta: got my DR120 a few days ago.. setting it up in the next week. 400W CMH & 600W HPS :D Gonna be a lightfest in there haha

Well, it's your earlier post about them glowing in the dark that really takes the cake. Hopefully I can get things corrected.
Thanks for the information.

what else would street edition mean? so cheap you can slang it on the street corner to some noobs who don't care about extra widgets and lightproofing. just erase street edition out of your mind and get a regular one. save yourself some trouble...
