right its time to bring this thread back to life lol, the plants are still doing fine apart from the bottom fan leaves keep yellowing off and dying, heres a couple of pics..







as you can see it appears to be happening on both plants but only on the bottom set of leaves. does this look like they are hungry? cheers in advance guys

Those lower leaves look calcium related...... have your plants lost any lower leaves below the spotting issue?
Calcium normally starts in the middle area which is why I am asking if your leaves fell off cause if they did, then those leaves even though they are the lowest, would have been around the middle area of the plant even though they don't show it

Also damaged leaves won't recover they will stay that way....


Have you tested the pH lately? You using RO water?

ive tested the ph and its coming in at about 8 or 7.8 or something, whats RO water? im using straight tap water left out for a couple of days - im feeding with biocanna vega every other feed but at full strength now. to be honest i think its just the lowest leaves that are dieing - the first fan leaves have now crinkled and fallen off and now its the second set that are going crispy?

RO is reverse osmosis water....... it's water that is filtered process through osmosis.

im using john innes no1 with a small amount of bone meal and around 40% perlite, im using a ph pen for that reading. so 7 is neutral am i right? what does it need to be brought down to? ill have to go and get some ph down! im not sure if its hard or soft, is there a way to check? thanks mate

No, you want phosphoric acid kind, since I don't know what that one contains I am saying no for the fact a lot of pH down for aquarium uses sodium which is not what you want.

So as long as it says safe for plants when you get it from a pet store/ebay or anywhere it's fine to use.

Im gettin a bit more concerned as one of my plants only has 2 of the big fan leaves left and ive just spotted a brown mark on one of them, which appears to be how it starts! What is the optimum ph?

Edit.. Just remembered the guy in the hydro shop said that i wouldnt have 2 adjust the ph with the nutes i brought which i was supprised by, i guess he was talkin shit lol?

I have never used the canna stuff, it's made for cannabis though so you can listen to there directions and such.

You have other additives in your mixture which throw the pH off so this is why you will need to take in account for.

WHat is jonnhes ins 1 mixture?
Is this a mixture you made yourself?

If not, what does the mixture contain? Can you list what is in the mixture from the back of the bag? That way I can tell you what your pH range needs to be.

Here's some stuff I found. This is the soil correct?


"There were four different grades of the composts originally, containing loam, peat and sand with varying amounts of nutrients depending on the use for the final product. All were sterilised with steam to remove fungal or other microbial pathogens which could damage the plants.
Seed Compost - has the lowest nutrient content and was formulated for seeds, soft cuttings and pricking out delicate seedlings, all of which can be damaged if the fertility is too high."
No. 1 - for sowing large seeds and pricking out most other seedlings and rooted cuttings.
No. 2 - for potting-on most plants it contains twice the added nutrients of No.1.
No. 3 - has the highest nutrient content for potting mature plants and shrubs.

2 parts sand 0.6kg ground limestone

Your mixture is a soiless mixture which needs to be in the range of 5.5 to 6.3 range.
