The hardest part will be worrying their safety while you're away...LOL!

Hi all:

Thanks for the 13 weeks recommendation. I think that's what I am going to do.

Trics are still mostly all clear this morning when i checked. Maybe a cloudy one here and there but rare.

I'm already late for work so here are the pics. You can see lower leaves finally yellowing. She is very frosty. Buds could swell more and I wouldn't complain but she is a very nice hazey looking plant.

pedro, those are looking really, really tastey... the buds are swelling up nice and the plant looks very healthy. It refreshing to see someone with so much patience and love for the ssh.
i flowered her under 12/12 and harvested around 11-12 wks. She had a nice golden color to her and a real spicey bite.

hopefully a smoke report is in the works

First,
Thanks to all of you for the great comments and compliments.
I would also like to say that whatever success I have with my SSH girl...a large part of that goes to many of you folks on ICMAG. Especially those boys on the Revival of the Ultimate Sativa Thread . There are folks there who have MANY MANY years experience growing sativas and sativa hybrids like SSH. So I owe them. We should all be grateful they are willing to share all that experience and expertise with the rest of us nubs!!

IF you do visit Motaco's thread, please be polite. There is a wealth of info there for those willing to scroll through the 180 odd pages. Sativa growers from all over the world post there. Some are world class breeders and/or growers who grow these wonderful plants purely for the thrill of doing it.

Here are pics from today...maybe a bit better so you can see how she's doing. In "normal" lighting her buds have an almost bluish cast much like a "Blue Spruce" tree has. I think it is probably the effect the trichomes have on the light and viewing angle. It looks f'ing COOL though!! And the smell is just too good to describe. Just carrying her to the bathroom for pics agitated her enough so that the bathroom smelled like this complexpiney/minty/spicey fragrance, and it is VERY fragrant...I shoudn't say smell or odor LOL!! insulting to my girl!!!

She is 11 weeks into flower...and I have decide to let her go on to 13 weeks rather than cut her now. Trichomes just not there yet. I really can't find an amber one, and very few cloudy ones.

I have noticed her metabolism has slowed. Up till recently she was taking right at 2 liters every 3 days. She got 2l last Monday. Still not dry enuf to water today. And I think it was 4-5 days between last watering before that. I take that as a sign of her finishing finally.

I do hope she will swell up those calyxes a bit more though.

And as always comments and/or suggestions are fine with me.

Hi thanks for the compliment!

She is about 40-44" tall. I topped her twice and supercropped her to get the shape I wanted. I was limited in vertical space so I grew her as a "bush" of sorts.

Yes, it's taken patience. This is my first grow of a truly top strain like this, and first one of a very sativa dominant pheno.

I had a LOT of good help and advice from some folks on the Ult. Sativa thread. There are some VERY smart people over there and I was lucky to get some good advice. And every single one of them ALL agreed on one thing:

You must wait these heavily sativa phenos out and let them mature if you want the best smoke.

And so I just bit the bullet and kept on watching them. My Skunk haze will be 95 days flowering tonight when she gets harvested. I have another thread on that girl someplace goiung now LOL. I jusat did a bowl LOL.

I won't know how they smoke for a couple months. The same folks mentioend about also say(not universally though) you must cure SSH a minimum of 60 days. Now THAT will be hard to do without "cheating" hehehehehehehe!!!

I tend to believe that though. My ThaiTanic and Satori improved a lot in tatse, smell and just overall smokability the longer it cured(still curing).

So she will come down tonight or maybe in the AM. You reall get sort of attached to these sativas. They are marvelous plants to grow. I'll hate chopping her in a way, but I'm sure I'll love the smoke.

I have these lil babies coming on though

They are 7-15 days old today. I'm doing another thread on them. I'm going to try and show how easy it is to grow a top quality strain. I'm going to try and show just how I topped this one to get a nice fairly symetrical bush for my limited space. stuff like that. Things I found that worked for me and I think will work for many of you inexperienced growers like me.

Hi all!

This is a cut and paste of my harvest post on the Ultimate Sativa Thread. I have just been too busy with work and new grow to do more than this for the moment. I do apologize for my laziness.

Hey everyone:

I would like to thank all you folks on here who have advised and helped me with my grow this time. I doubt I would have had the success I did without it.

To you other newbies like me...
These guys on this thread "know their stuff" when it comes to growing these sativas. We should all be grateful for their help!!!!!!!!!

I chopped my SSH from Mr Nice on Feb 17, after 93 days of 10/14 flowering. These are not great pics, especially of the pics after trimming...but you'll get an idea of whatI got from her. You CAN tell from the pics they have a lot of resin because of the sorta bluish cast the buds have compared to the leaves. Trichomes finally did change when I was away. Most were cloudy....some maybe 10-20% were amber....very few clear.

The GREEN harvest weight, immediately after cutting and trimming was:

275 grams. That's as you see it pictured..

I figure after drying and curing I may get about 50 grams dry weight. That's not too bad IMO for my first try with SSH. The yield was down because I did 10/14 flowering period lighting...and kept the plant relatively small, about 40-44"(100-110cm) tall at harvest.

I am going to try to reveg the plant since from all I've been told it is a nice "haze" pheno and not the most common pheno of the 3 phenotypes Mr Nice's SSH generally makes.

I smoked a lil piece of a small lower bud that weighed < .1 grams freshly cut...so dry it would weigh nearly nothing. This SSH could be pretty potent. That lil piece gave me a nice buzz for about an hour

Buds despite the pics are VERY coated with resin. I didn't do a lot of trimming of the tiny sugar leaves. Too much hassle and I don't care if they give it a bit of taste later on after curing. I hated to trim off all those leaves. The buds are VERY sativa looking from what I can see. Those funny looking "stacked calyxes"...not like a indica bud at all. I'm not much of a hash maker yet. I saved the trim, maybe 40-50 grams. I'll dry sift it.










The green weights of each branch from left to right are:
27,35,34,20,23,20, 20,15,14,12 grams


There are 55 grams(green wt) on the paper plate. They are all the lil buds , mostly from lower branches pictured above.
